What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

I’ve partnered with PSP at several companies, and most recently hired them for a study that went beyond their standard win/loss program and added custom persona research to help us understand who buys, why they buy, and how they buy. Although I anticipated high-quality work based on my previous experience, I was blown away by the thoroughness of the interviews and analysis notes from the research. We didn't just get a summary analysis. Each interview came with extensive notes and transcripts that allowed us to go deep and really understand the perspectives of each customer’s approach to the purchase as well as the detailed reasons for the win or loss.

The personal service we received from PSP is outstanding. I appreciated that PSP spent time sharing the results with us in a small forum, and then offered to have as many briefings as needed to share insights with other stakeholders in the company.

We got real expert analysis. My fear with some of these services is that we will get sold by an expert and then the work will be handed to some junior associate who spends very little time on our account and doesn't really go deep. That's not at all what we got with PSP. Ken is an expert researcher who knows our technology and buyers well, and he spent tons of time on us, and he treated us like we were his only client. That kind of depth and expertise is exactly what we wanted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

It’s hard to find faults with this service. PSP came up to speed on our space on their own, wrote a custom interview guide which required little if any additional input from us, and did all the outreach for us. All of our interviews were blind, so we did not need to even introduce the customers. PSP sent us transcripts steadily as they worked through the contact list and got all the interviews done despite a somewhat limited number of contacts to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

It’s critical to select appropriate deals for PSP (or any win/loss consultant, for that matter) to interview. PSP is very clear that they are looking for customers who considered us carefully and would have a lot to tell us, good or bad, about how we compared with our competition. If your CRM system doesn’t have good information, you will need to review deals with sales reps to make sure that they are good for win/loss interviewing. I knew coming in that this is an important step, and so we did that in this project. This very much helped us reach our target response rate and meet our project deadline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

The learnings we got from the research have helped us to better train our sellers and identify ways that we can maximize our results. We were extremely impressed by the depth and thoroughness of the analysis, which revealed several surprising and even startling insights, both tactical and strategic. Our work with PSP continues at the strategic level to help us improve our packaging, pricing and go-to-market planning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

The level of detail provided to our organization in the interviews is very useful. Each interview provides multiple pages worth of details on the factors that influenced either or win or loss decision, and provides us with an understanding of our performance and the performance of our competitors. During the interviews, PSP dives deep into the factors that influenced the buyer's decision and we really value the deep insights we are able to collect from these interviews. Ken is also very personable and has a gift in getting people to really candidly discuss their decisions with him. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

I cannot think of anything that I dislike about the vendor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

We have leveraged PSP's services since 2020 and our experience with with the vendor has been very positive. One recommendation I would make for others considering PSP Enterprises is to ensure there is a feedback mechanism all the way to the top of your organizations so that the right adjustments in strategy can be made and that there is alignment across the organization. The interview feedback is only as useful as what actions your organization takes to adjust your strategy based on the insights you recieve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

As more competition entered our market, our organization struggled with a lack of insights into why we were starting to lose deals. We also wanted to better understand and leverage our strengths from the deals that we did win. We leverage the PSP Enterprise win/loss interview services to support setting our growth and marketing strategy. Based on the insights we receive from our win/loss interviews, we can better understand where we can make changes in our messaging, pricing strategy, and other areas. What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

We’ve used PSP since 2020, and over that time PSP has transformed our approach to market intelligence with blind and anonymous interviews, sales training and market intelligence analysis that has won the trust of our sales people and our executives. Their balanced interview techniques delve into customer issues thoroughly, exploring unmentioned areas without leading, and providing clarity on individual deals as well as broader market trends. This approach ensures strategic prioritization based on real business impact.

PSP’s consultants know our space and the complicated history of legacy products that our customers use. This depth is obvious to the person being interviewed, so they quickly start to talk “inside baseball” about what motivated their evaluation and move quickly from generalities to the specific issues that drove the business.

PSP’s technical depth also makes them very adaptable to our changing needs. We’ve used PSP to help us launch several new strategic initiatives, and they did it with minimal briefings from us because they understood the market and technology well enough that all we had to do was explain our strategy and they could create a new interview guide and start interviewing our new customers immediately.

Last but not least, PSP works really hard to make our program successful. Executing win/loss requires a lot of disciplined operational focus, and PSP’s program management and CRM integration help us keep the program moving efficiently. Especially when we are executing new product launches, there are never enough customers to interview. They help us review our candidate deal list to identify potential interview candidates. PSP treats every contact like gold, and creatively finds ways to interview people who at first seem unreachable. They consistently achieve surprisingly high response rates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

Honestly, there really is nothing to dislike. I am always excited to open an email from PSP to read a new interview because I know, win or lose, that I am going to learn something important. Since 2010, I have worked for three companies that have used PSP and seen hundreds of their interviews and dozens of executive reports. They have been extraordinarily consistent. They nailed their basic methodology from the start and continually built on that with new ideas for analysis and insights they can provide. It’s been a pleasure to work with PSP and to evolve with them over that time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

PSP includes sales training sessions as part of their standard consulting package, and I recommend that all PSP clients use this. The approach and the material are both of very high quality and represent many years of application in the real world. Their sales training sessions, based on blind and anonymous feedback from customers, are highly credible and valued by our sales team at kickoffs and quarterly sales meetings. I appreciate that PSP makes these available at short notice and at no additional cost, because this makes it easy to flexibly integrate them into “quick drop” sales training seminars that we create as part of new feature launches or in response to market news. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

Over the past four years, our strategic partnership with PSP has been vital in providing the reliable market intelligence necessary for critical executive decision-making and successfully guiding complex market entries and product launches. Their ability to deliver in-depth, actionable insights has solidified PSP Enterprises' status as an indispensable partner for us. PSP gets my highest recommendation. What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

We get honest customer feedback from PSP’s anonymous interviews. The reports show us many kinds of invisible realities that we didn’t know about our competitors and how customers think about them and us. The interviewer understands our product technology and strategy and how we sell to customers, so he gets us insight into all aspects. The interviews are extremely fine-grained and thorough but also come with concise summaries with intelligent recommendations we can use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

I have no complaints. They are very easy to work with and always professional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

I would use them again and strongly recommend them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

I did win/loss internally for 6 years on the product side and I found out many things I did not know with PSP. I was surprised that things like customer support and presales are often more important than features when customers are choosing products. We have been using the analysis in our product roadmap, support policy, website marketing, and sales training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

PSP has worked with us over the last year to do win/loss analysis on deals in the US, Europe, and Asia. Our technology is very specialized, but PSP had no trouble coming up to speed on our space and customizing the interviews and process to fit what we needed in different areas. The interviews and analysis are very detailed and give us the specifics at both the technical and commercial levels that we need for both sales training and product strategy planning. They are extremely diligent in their outreach, which has been particularly useful for getting valuable feedback from lost opportunities. Their anonymized interviews are especially compelling because we get candid feedback that we would not get if we asked it ourselves. We are extremely happy with their work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

We haven’t had any issues. We meet with PSP weekly, and they review with us each interview as they’re completed. We don’t have a lot of deals to work with in some new areas for us, so each and every one counts. It’s clear that they are working very hard for us to get every interview possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

Contact them and have a chat with them. Their expertise and professionalism will be self-evident. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have lots of customer insight from our customer roadmap briefing discussions and input from sales, but we also need consistent, in-depth insights from prospects for both wins and losses. Our target audience has many technologies to choose from in the market, so it’s often very hard to judge what’s really working and not working for us. In some places, we were on the right track, and PSP validated and helped us focus with more confidence. More importantly, there were some issues that we might have heard about but didn’t realize how important they were to our customers and that it was causing losses. We have been making adjustments based on what we are learning and then watching new interviews to see how they are received. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

PSP offers a personal and tailored approach to win/loss analysis. The post engagement data and analysis was informative in addressing our needs. We knew exactly where to adjust our process, strategy and train our sales and marketing teams to make a difference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

We've had an amazing experience with PSP and have nothing but good to say about their process, and the results that were provided to us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

We sell products and services in a lengthly and complex multi-disciplinary decision process. With many stakeholders at the decision table, we were struggling to understand, at the root, why were facilities choosing our products and services as well as why were we loosing. PSP did an amazing job helping us undersand the "why" behind customers purchasing decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

PSP's interview notes and transcripts were super-detailed! Our PSP contact worked with us to refine the questions to maximize the value of the interviews and made it a point to understand our technology to ensure that he could dig deeper into the discussions. Our buyers are quite specialized, so it was important for our PSP contact to connect with them; he reached a point where he could anticipate the questions we would have asked the interviewees without us telling him. What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

I've run several market research initiatives in the past, and I have to say PSP did a great job helping us conduct this one. They were easy to work with and did a great job providing us the material we needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

PSP helped us understand our strengths in the market by conducting interviews with external stakeholders. Their findings and analysis helped solidify some hypotheses we had internally and sparked ideas for new strategies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Describe the project or task PSP Enterprises helped with:

While previously working at a mid-market enterprise software company I used PSP to study the key win/loss factors for a FinTech product (automated trading software, specifically) being sold into highly competitive mature and growth markets worldwide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

The most helpful outcome at the time was the quantitative analysis for both winning and losing factors, above and beyond the qualitative description of the buyer interviews. Sourcing the data from anonymous 3rd party interviews of both wins and losses within the potential customer base gave us an unbiased view of the truth that wasn't possible internally. But the bigger problem we needed to solve was the ability to apply that truth to the distinct reasons we won and lost deals, for instance by feeding those results into the marketing messaging and sales enablement collateral. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

Nothing to dislike. We did use the results to help create new go-to-market plans and tweak existing marketing and sales campaigns. What would have been further helpful at the time, which seems to be available now, is the further ability to model the revenue impact of changes to the product that could have swayed wins and losses on what turned out to be the key competitive factors. This would be useful as both a product development input, and a business case input for sales. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

The key benefit we realized was the ability to create competitive sales and marketing messaging for campaigns against specific competitors. We noticed that our main competitors had competitive messaging against our product, and we needed to equip our sales teams with they same capability to sell against known competitors in key accounts. Describe the project or task PSP Enterprises helped with:

PSP has done outstanding win/loss consulting for us this year. We compete in a very fast-growing and fragmented industry where we had trouble getting details on the true capabilities of our many competitors. We wanted to know what we could do to improve our win rate in sales, inform our brand/marketing message planning, as well as our product management and strategic acquisitions teams. PSP did blind/anonymous interviews for us and provided executive analysis to our VPs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Describe the project or task PSP Enterprises helped with:

We use PSP to do win/loss interviewing and competitive consulting. They interview our customers and find out what we did right and wrong and what we can learn from the competition for next time. Compared to the post-mortems we had done ourselves before using PSP, what we are learning is night and day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

First and foremost, PSP is a fantastic business partner. They’re easy to work with, sharp as hell and always available and eager to help us apply what they’ve found out in our sales training as well as marketing and product planning.

The quality of interviews is impressive. They ask the executives we sell to for 30-40 minutes of time but usually get a full hour, and use that time intelligently to cover all the bases and drill down into the issues which really made a difference to the customer. It’s all unscripted and shows that PSP did their homework to study our product and industry, which is pretty specialized. The transcripts are detailed and very specific about how we can improve our selling as well as our product.

PSP’s analysis and executive recommendations are also excellent. Every point they raise is a specific issue with smart suggestions, many unexpected, about what we can do. There are no generalities or arm-waving. They showed us what’s statistically significant and what’s not, and backed up every point with multiple customer quotes.

I also want to highlight PSP’s interview batting average. I used another agency to do win/loss at another company, and it was like pulling teeth to get customers to agree to interviews and we had to do a lot of the work. With PSP, I give them a list of contacts and they do the rest, getting interviews with around 1/3-1/2 of the contacts I give them. And that’s with blind interviews where the customer doesn’t know who is paying for the research. The other agency had us introduce them and they still struggled to get the interviews done, which was extremely frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

Nothing - these guys are great - highly recommended. They don’t advertise this, but PSP also have very good ideas about how to do sales training and efficient ways to gather competitive feedback from salespeople. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have leveraged win/loss in product marketing (competitive training, customer journey, messaging, branding), product management (new feature prioritization and ideas), and sales (new hire training, quarterly training, competitive alerts). It’s something I consider now a core part of the way we run the business, and based on field feedback alone, the program has paid for itself many times over. Describe the project or task PSP Enterprises helped with:

As a leading mid size enterprise software company, we hired PSP Enterprises at first to do a blind and anonymous win/loss study of 16 interviews for one product line. The results were well received so we extended the contract for that product line and over time added three more product lines to the program. We also sponsored interviews for our ISV partners to help them improve their competitiveness, which in turn, helped us win more deals. In all, PSP did over 200 interviews for us while I was on the CI team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PSP Enterprises?

The win/loss program was a big hit with our global sales organization. Salespeople were very eager to see what customers said in interviews of their own customers and they liked to compare their experience and get ideas from reading interviews of other rep’s deals. We made battlecards and sales training based on what we learned and because the salespeople knew where the information came from, they trusted and used them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PSP Enterprises?

No complaints. The work was always done very fast and quality was excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PSP Enterprises:

When designing the interview guide, don’t make too many fine-grained criteria or you won’t see patterns appear until you do many more interviews. Keep the criteria reasonably high-level and look to customer comments to discuss why an issue is coming up and causing you to win or lose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PSP Enterprises solving and how is that benefiting you?

It was very broadly used throughout the company. Inside the CI team, we used the results of win-loss to produce our own competitive sales training and support materials, some internal-only (e.g., battlecards), and some customer-facing. Our product marketing team used win-loss reports and analysis to define and prioritize market messages. Our Sales Engineering team in North America reorganized, based on win-loss feedback. Our product management teams used it to guide decisions and design of product features and demo development. Our corporate development team used it for due diligence on acquisitions. The analyst relations people showed industry analysts what we had found. Investment relations used it to present to financial analysts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
