Ease of use, ease of setup, ease of administration, quality of support, everything in one place Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The feature dislikes involves time. In real estate sales it is location, location, location. This involves time, time, time -- such a valuable commodity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the way the time tracking is user friendly and provides options for time input, especially compared to other software serving the same function. You can set timers, reminders, look at daily or monthly billing, monitor what you were working on at a given time and most recent matters and events (documents). There are multiple ways to find and use documents in the system. The software updates regularly, but not so frequently that it's always crashing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Icons and labels are not as user friendly as other software, so there's a slight learning curve. Dates, documents and emails are grouped together in one search window, which can be difficult to use. Reminders sometimes blend with completed events and time entries when getting started. The search window is counter-intuitive and leads to erroneous searches and crashes when beginning. Marking items as complete is difficult and takes several steps. Preview screens occasionally crash the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ProLaw leverages data across all of its modules. For example, data about contacts is input once, then used for conflicts checking, matter management, document creation, and accounting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Problems that have existed for years continue to be problems, and there is no clear schedule for bug-fixes. The list of known bugs never lists all of the known bugs. Features that support has said for years should not be used continue to be listed in documentation as if they worked. Some bad choices in coding cause poor performance even on modern hardware. The database schema is both flawed and poorly documented.
Security is poorly implemented. The local executable must be run as administrator, which is generally a no-no. Every user is supposed to be given sysadmin access to the database; sophisticated malicious users can remove restrictions that should prevent them from accessing certain documents or even trash the whole database. The time entry function allows for the distinction between units and statement units. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The amount of bugs in the program and how slow it is. It is hard to enter in certain rules on a custom level sometimes. Sometimes we had to go in and create due dates that should have auto populated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ProLaw is an "all in one" solution, that combines all necessary functions to run your firm: document management, docketing, accounting, records management, Westlaw integration, etc. If you are a small firm or solo practice (under 10 lawyers), this software could be perfectly suited for you. At least, that's how the entire legal industry felt about 10 years ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Since acquiring ProLaw, Thomson Reuters has fallen severely behind with its development of the software. Every release, major or minor, essentially contains only bug fixes, and they tend to reveal as many new bugs as they resolve. It's a vicious cycle. In addition, none of the core features of the software work all that well, and document management is its weakest link. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's nice that time runs when you open a matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it difficult to use. It's inconvenient when opening and closing matters. Also difficult to manage manual entry. The client and page numbers are also difficult to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Once you do learn to use it, it's fairly easy to use. It allows us to track our cases in a large database. It's great to be able to share cases across the state and know the status of any case. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish we could use it remotely. It is also difficult and not very intuitive to use at first, but definitely becomes easier as you use it. Additionally, we have lost functionality for days and once for a whole week. It made representing our clients much more difficult and we lost a lot of confidence in our clients when we couldn't determine where their cases were at. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ProLaw is relatively easy to use (with some training) and makes legal-filing understandable and constantly accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes ProLaw can be fussy and there isn't a very easy way to export events or matters outside of individual exports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
