What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The software is super simple to use and navigate; it's easy to make uploads and view highlighted albums by an admin. The upload process is usually very fast and seamless, and my admin have not had any difficulties or issues viewing my uploaded work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I wish the upload process was a bit more informative...last I checked, it doesn't make it super clear that my photos have been confirmed to be uploaded and shared successfully (but I haven't had any problem with this process so that's a plus). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

For others considering PhotoShelter for Brands, I'd say it would be best to compare the services, functionality, and reliability of all of your options. PhotoShelter works very reliably for my organization and provides all of the services we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

My brand, Rice University, is using PhotoShelter for the Office of Admissions/Enrollment, allowing students to easily share candid photos of campus life and their experiences with the administration for marketing/social media. It makes it much easier for lots of photos to be organized and shared with the office, rather than having to use flash drives, separate storage solutions, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

It is easy to navigate around and create new folders and that hierarchy functions well when trying to use it as a team. We have been able to create a simple naming convention structure that allows us to jump around chronologically very easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Sharing privileges can get confusing at times. There are points when I am very unsure about flipping a switch for global privileges when really just wanting to give access to a small portion of files within an umbrella of folders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is keeping our team in sync when sharing photos in our office and to campus partners. We haven't used much of the external facing side of the software yet, and we do not utilize any of the photo sale possibilities, but I like knowing that they are there. I have even stored video footage on our photoshelter site before.

Overall, it is really nice using this platform as a way to get all kinds of photos into the hands of any person that needs them, and do so very quickly. The ability to resize photos within it on export is a really big advantage. It helps when working with our web team as sometimes they just want the thumbnail sizing to save on data and keep quick load times available on our pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Photoshelter and it's app are user friendly for quick deadlines, ease of use to send images to clients, and website/domain access for portfolio work to send to potential clients. The customer service and SEO/weekly email tips, classes are top notch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The only downside or suggestions I am to make Photoshelter more approachable to creatives alike (not just sports photographers) is more customization for the website aspect such as more layouts, working custom HTTL codes, and branding. At times, I think customizing the website has some very limited features and the linking Instagram section doesn't work for some reason all of a sudden. May just be user interface issues, but other than that i'm happy with PS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest obstacle I was having was sending clients proofs and image selects for their eyes only, and being able to use ONE tool vs 3 different photography apps to send clients work was confusing at times. For elaboration, I was posting images in Flickr galleries in private mode, with no password access code for publishers which was an issue and using a third party app getting charged $35 a month to send client images once dropbox was full. PS makes all of my turnover tools in ONE place, that's huge! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The capability to collaborate and share media securely for both internal and external use case is invaluable. The support is also very prompt and commendable!

Workspaces has provided more flexibility and accessibility for collaborating more efficiently than previously with lightboxes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Some of the UI and search functionality seems rigid or still in development. It's been constantly improving since I started working with Libris this year. I'd still like to see more options and features, even with the Portal search because that's where my colleagues and clients search through our vast library of 40,000+ images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

We've found the methods for creating galleries to be shared with very specific groups, such as event attendees, to be very handy. Being able to use a password protected gallery, or specific user group permissions really helps keep our media secure but easily accessible for those it's meant for.

Workspaces have been great for collaborating in selecting images across teams, and providing image downloads easily with approved collaborators without having to set and tool around with the gallery permissions on specific case basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Libris allows me to to upload, tag, and sort my photos with ease. Also, I am able to send quick-links to our student-athletes, sponsors and fans so that they are able to find what they are looking for easily. The quality of being able to view the site and download images is simply amazing! We are constantly getting request through our photo-microsite and it is astounding at the ease of sending images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Unfortunately, we aren't able to add a plug-in to our website (WordPress) which is a huge downfall for us - but they are apparently working on creating one! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

Would highly recommend at least sitting down and taking a look at your current resources and compare them to Libris. We did a full evaluation and Libris provided the best option for our needs and wants. I know that had our conversation and showcase not gone so well, we were going to move on. I made the quick decision that we should jump on Libris and quick! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are saving time! It's as simple as that. We can have photos coming in through FTP, being edited in Lightroom/PhotoMechanic and then tagged and put into an album simultaneously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Photoshelter makes it incredibly easier to store and share photos. As an organization we are constantly needing to share albums of photos with partners. Photoshelter makes it easy to sort and create albums, and send off a link all within their system.

Also the ability to create a way for many people to upload to a single album is huge for an organization that is dispersed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Only downside is the start-up interface - too many steps between log-in and getting to my gallery. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

Photoshelter is a great tool for creative asset management. You don't need massive amounts of experience in photo management for this tool to work great for your company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

While we are trying to implement tagging best practices, its not perfect. PhotoShelter makes it easy to search a whole host of attributes to find photos -- not just name or date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

PhotoShelter makes it easy to organize and access all of our photo assets. They ease of use and search capability are fantastic. I have dozens of collections and galleries that make it easy to sort photos and I keep our highest quality headshot images in one place for easy sharing to our elected officials and media partners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I would like to be able to access PhotoShelter for Brands via a mobile app. It would allow me to access my assets even easier for mobile and social media applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

We used to have assets all over the place, on file sharing services, network drives, personal devices and flash drives. This provides a simple, web-based, easy-to-use solution that holds everything in a organized way. My team has saved hundreds of hours of staff time this year with PhotoShelter for Brands. What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Two things I love about third light.

First: the team. Unlike many other providers in the space, you get to speak to real humans who genuinely care. This immediately elevates the experience.

Secondly, the software itself - we have a whooooole bunch of files, and the thing that really elevates Third Light is it's ease of use, particularly when delving through large swathes of files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

There is inevitably a learning curve with Third Light, and it depends on having a discipline when adding files to make sure everything is tagged in the appropriate way. When it is however, it elevates the experience massively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

Speak with the team - they genuinely care. Have in mind how you are going to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

The biggest problem was me: making sure everything was tagged appropriately. That being said, when I got into the practice, that became a problem no more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The knowledge and methodical approach the team takes to resolve any issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

My only dislike may be the response time due to our location (EST, NY) vs. your UK location. It would be nice if there is another level of support that addresses the locality of your customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The Developer and support team was about to create a fix with Project Sync within 24 hours. This is huge for my group since Project Sync plays a massive role in their daily workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Danny Smith of PhotoShelter for Brands

Thank you very much for this review, Wai! We really appreciate your feedback. It's good to hear that support in your timezone would be useful. While there are no plans for dedicated support outside of UK hours yet, I'll pass on your comments and let you know if this changes. I'm glad the support and development team were able to fix your issue in a timely manner.
