What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I love the fact that I can search for something like 'logo' and instantly all my logo variations appear. I can then just as quickly share them with colleagues or external designers via a link. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

When people forget to tag their images - it's such a simple thing to do and without tags it makes files so much harder to find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Quick and simple file retrieval and sharing. Download of pre-set images for websites and social channels. Colleagues searching for their own imags instead of asking marketing. What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

So far, we have found Photoshelter for Brands user-friendly, affordable, and reliable. Customer service has been helpful and responsive to any concerns we've had, and most issues have been resolved quickly and easily. Onboarding has been straight forward even with us opting to do the process folder by folder to ensure we weren't taking over old, unneeded files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The one issue of concern right now is specific to the Adobe CC Connector extension. As of August 2021, when working in InDesign, file formats with transparency (PNG, PSD) are NOT placed as their original file format and instead are placed as a low res JPEG image that, of course, ignores transparency. This is problematic for us, but we understand from our CS rep that this is being worked on, and we're hopeful it will be resolved soon. The only other concern is that PDF file handling isn't as robust as we'd like, with no ability to preview multiple page PDFs or place page 2+ into an InDesign document without downloading first. We understand that this is a feature that's also currently in process and should be available in 2022 -- for now the workaround of downloading multi-page PDFs isn't a serious problem for us as it's not something we need to do frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have large product and logo/branding image libraries that before Photoshelter for Brands were stored on an in-house server. The old system was not indexed or easily searchable, and file naming was inconsistent (because images come directly to us from multiple manufacturers), which made it difficult and time-consuming to find the images we needed. Preview images were also VERY slow to load, which further hindered the process. With Photoshelter, these libraries are all quick-loading, and it's easy to scan through visually to identify the images we need. The metadata tagging (something we're still in the process of adding) also makes these images quickly serachable. These two features alone literally save us hours of time searching for the images we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

PhotoShelter has solved our social media needs for in-game content. I have a live editor who pulls from the account and uploads for their needs once the images are cropped and toned. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The search function on Photoshelter has been such a life-saver! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The Libris app has its issues; sometimes when you try to download a photo the app completely shuts off. It also logs users out often. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

The tagging and search function have been life-savers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

The search function has saved us so much time and allowed us to give photos a longer shelf life. If we were looking for a photo of a fan, there might be something awesome from 2015 that we would never use again if we couldn't search. We would just pull from the most recent gallery. What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I love how easy it is to work with. I also love how user friendly and how easy it is to get content to my athletes. It saves me so much time and it a HUGE help to our league. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Sometimes it can be a bit glitchy and can crash. It also sometimes shuffles the content I have uploaded, making it hard to find content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm working a lot with metadata and figuring out the best way to get our metadata down so that people who have access to only a few folders can still use those search words in the folders they can see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

After using Libris for sometime, I feel like it's a good place for your photos to live. There are many features that let you add keyword/metadata to make searching easier, as well as some useful filters like date uploaded and IPTC dates. That feature helps me a lot if a photo hasn't been keyword properly.

It also is very visual and doesn't bury information about the photos in odd places, and allows you to batch attach necessary information to many photos at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I don't like the gallery/collection system search. I find I rarely use it. It doesn't work the way the "File Search" does and is usually useless to me when trying to find something. It may just be how we have our own system set up that makes it not useable, but "File Search" is far more intuitive than the search bar through the galleries/collections that shows up when you log in.

It also doesn't mention if you've already uploaded a photo with the same name, so if you have several photos with the same numbering (ex. DSC_104), it won't alert you to create another name, it'll just assign it an extra number (ex. DSC_104_01) instead. Having a feature that can recognize duplicates would be useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have used it to help match photos to model releases, which is helpful when searching for something useful. I like that it's easy to see if a release has been attached, but it would be nice if in doing that the silhouette turned green on its own rather than having to remember to manually click it.

The problem about not mentioning duplicates is another issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I like that it's easy for external constituents to use Photoshelter with minimal or no training. It generally does all we need it to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

It keeps getting more expensive, and we aren't even using many new features that are causing this. Also, the inflexibility with ongoing issues. For example, the simple fact that you can not search by photographer name. This was something the salesperson told us was possible, and then when we loaded up our images found out it was not. After multiple complaints, it's been something I have been told they're "working on" for four years. It would be nice if the keywords would also stay in the order they are placed in. It switches to alphabetical order on the portal, and if there are multiple people, there is confusion as to who is who when I have spent the time putting the names from left to right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

It's a good option at a lower price point for a DAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

It makes it easy for anyone at our University to find photos using keywords. It has made it so people rely less on me to find photos for them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I love the ability to share globally and give people access to specific files. We are working with Workspaces and trying to make our teams work together without photo access being a bottleneck. It has made our collections more usable and we have been able to link up the approval process for sensitive material. I am glad that users can upload photos to their own workspace, and use this to communicate with their group. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

The search engine is very old. Hard to search only a collection. On the portal, the search engine is very limited. Tagging and downloading as a batch from thumbnails is not possible. Would love to work from thumbnails more. Like to see large photos when I want to. To move photos from Galleries to your workspace you have to move them one by one. Administrators do not have this problem but my clients do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhotoShelter for Brands:

Easy to set up. Make sure your file structures are the way you want them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhotoShelter for Brands solving and how is that benefiting you?

The ability for designers and creators of photos to work together. Having permissions means I can limit access and set up the parameters. They can also work independently of me... once I give them access, they can find photos and then use them.

I am currently helping contributors use Libris as the hub. I will also start to train people in story gathering and photography using both Zoom and Libris together. This gives us access to more content in a timely way. I will be testing out how this works with our partners in Africa and other parts of the world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhotoShelter for Brands?

Photoshelter is excellent for managing digital assets and allowing user to collaborate on multiple projects. I personally enjoy the Lightboxes feature, which allows me to collect photos based on specific topics. I use these Lightboxes repeatedly when I have a project that requires specific campus shots. I also like the organization and ability to grant access to specific users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhotoShelter for Brands?

I'm not too fond of the clunky nature of the PhotoShelter site or the slow load time it takes when searching for photos. It can take a few seconds to load all the photos, and then the page jumps around when I'm scrolling depending on what browser I use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

PhotoShelter is excellent for managing digital assets and establishing a workflow between multiple collaborators. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

PhotoShelter allows our photographers to easily upload and manage their assets with people across campus and within our department. We use it to download content for multiple projects, and it allows us to collaborate more easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
