What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

We enjoy the workflow features of Perceptive Content. We have clients at three universities comprising Undergraduate & Graduate Admissions, as well as Student Records. We designed pretty complicated business process flows in the backend of the software, but to the user, these appear very simple. Perceptive Content is very simple for the end users to use and utilize advanced features like workflow, digital signatures, and annotations.

Our system also integrates with PeopleSoft. We routinely receive data from our PeopleSoft system and pass data back to it. Perceptive Content makes integration easy with its Web Service options. With some development expertise you can very easily integrate via SOAP and their RESTful API to your business systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

Over the past several years Perceptive has acquired multiple companies and software technologies. This has presented challenges for both the end users and the company itself. Perceptive really needs to slow down their release cycles and focus more on integrating the technologies into the core product. Having to grapple with multiple brands, technologies, license structures is really difficult for both an administrator and an executive level. We have slowed down our purchasing because we aren't necessarily sure about how long a product would be around in the perceptive portfolio. While we really like the core technology, the quick pace of release along with a lack of integration of acquisitions into the main product leaves us apprehensive about the future. We are a SQL shop so the product NOLIJ from Perceptive Software fits into our shoes perfectly. We can maintain all tables and stored procedures via SQL syntax at the back end which is convenient for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

This software is built using Java so the initial setup on each computer is consuming time. Besides, Oracle is constantly upgrading the version for Java so we need to confirm with the company each time to make sure we can allow the end users to update their Java; otherwise, the users will experience an incompatible issue with the newer version. What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

The ease of use of the interface, the flexibility using java/vb scripts and the lower professional services and software costs.

Newer employees are able to learn the software more quickly thanks to the interface, increasing adoption.

The flexibility allows us to expand our use across the organization to include ERP, Clinical and ancillary services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

Occasionally the solutions and products are not as mature as competitors. You may be a beta tester for a new solution (although to their credit you usually get additional professional services hours for free). Additionally they have moved much of their support offshore, it is frustrating to deal with those tier 1 support prior to being referred Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

Perceptive ImageNow (aka Content) is a great CMS for workflow management and process automation. With the right tricks, you can integrate with a variety of other business software and services thanks to iScripts (written in JavaScript) and the import client.

From an information security stand point the images are saved in a (from what I gather) proprietary way which prevents any would be intruders from easily accessing the data. However, the key fields are stored in an MS SQL database so data mining is easy as pie.

Perceptive support is very proactive and I never had trouble contacting them or resolving any issues with ImageNow. If not for the excellent product support I may have reviewed them a bit lower due to my experiences with eForms-- but they do stand by their products and help out clients quickly and effectively.

We did not use BI, Reports, or Brainware- however the demo for Brainware (if they haven't renamed it yet) made the technology seem very useful.

What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

eForms have the potential to be a great feature-- however be warned they are run in Java and may not be the best solution for any internet forms as users will receive a security warning message due to recent security exploits with Java. For this reason, our company did not follow through with our eForms implementation and wound up eating the cost of the license. eForms also has a rather tedious development environment-- the form designer it was packaged with wasn't even finished when we received the module. The demo provided via a remote session was also very misleading. My worst experience with Perceptive was definitely eForms.

Licensing for additional modules is expensive for smaller companies! Every time I asked for a quote regarding a module the price was out of our budget. Some modules are based on usage, which does help, however some of them would benefit from tiered pricing.

Not a big deal really, but Perceptive seems to be unable to decide on a final name for any of their products. I remember they were trying to rename Perceptive ImageNow to Perceptive Content and it seemed to result in a fair amount of confusion during an Inspire conference. What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

We began using ImageNow from Perceptive for routing approval and storage of our AP invoices. we have since expanded the usage to include our driver qualifications department, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, capital expenditures approvals and much more. Our best liked feature is the workflow approvals but the retention policy manager runs a close second. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The biggest problem we have had is turnover in personnel handling our account. We have gone through several account managers and had some issues of personnel changes on projects that has caused some delays. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

Perceptive Software has a fantastic platform that is easily extended to just about any other platform. As a longtime data architect, DBA and now CTO, I have had the opportunity to build integrations between in-house systems and the Perceptive platform; their API just works, no surprises, it just delivers. What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

Frankly, for the work that I did, there wasn't anything to dislike. From the points of contact to the products themselves, everything worked as expected and many times exceeded expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

We've been using ImageNow for the past four years for our admissions and financial aid processes. It's eliminated the need to file paper and has introduced great efficiency into our operation through the use of workflow and custom iScripts to automate document import process and document movement through workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

Overall it's a very solid product, however Perceptive can be slow to fix product issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

The ease of configuration is remarkable - non-technical consultants can design workflows in minutes. The workflow designer gui is logical and systematic, regardless of how complex the workflow structure may be. I have also found that debugging is straight forward on concise. What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

The integration with some products can be tricky; while the majority of products' integration is simple with Window Walker technology, I have found two products that required custom iScripting. So, while not impossible it is more tedious than usual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Perceptive Content?

ImageNow allowed our team to digitize over 500,000 documents during a strategic streamlining of our paper-based document processes over a fairly short amount of time. We then used the digitized documents to enable a robust process for document retrieval. Overall, the effort to digitize was not only necessary but also extremely beneficial. We were able to introduce workflows to easily retrieve documents for business use and to also allow auditors to easily locate the right document and content. What do you dislike about Perceptive Content?

The ImageNow workflow tool, while powerful, becomes a bit more difficult to manage with growing complexities. By the end of it, we created a spider web of connections between the various elements in the workflow package. It would be rather difficult to make changes to the workflow at this point and would probably be easier to start from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
