Yes, they do all the typical PR activities, pitching, media relations, reporting, interview prep, etc. However, where they really excel is learning our industry, and going deep on our product knowledge so they have more than surface level understanding. They are excellent advisors. A company never wants to be in a "media relations crisis" and if you are to find yourself in such a situation, I would want BLASTmedia on my team.

They are an extension of our team.

BLASTmedia is the agency of record for Smartling, a language translation management software and services company. We engaged BLASTmedia to provide PR support to help reposition our brand and services in the market place. The result of our work was pretty incredible, including 121% goal achievement of service-line sales that we were trying to grow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PANBlast?

BLASTmedia didn't assign one person to our account. They didn't assign two people to our account or even three people to our account. For every check-in, there were FOUR people from BLASTmedia on the call.

I know. You're reading this and thinking it's the most inefficient use of your PR retainer. It isn't. It's maximizing your efficiency. Four smart, eloquent, driven people joined every call to strategize how my brand could get more exposure across every news media channel. We came up with good ideas, quickly discarded bad ideas, and optimized when misunderstandings about our complex offering were leading people down the wrong path.

Plus, every one of them has a dog that made an appearance on Zoom calls from time to time. 🐶 Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PANBlast?

Look. PR is tough. I used to do it myself. The hardest part about working with any agency is that they aren't actually on your team. PR has changed. There are 9x more publicist than journalists today, so it's competitive. I would like to see BLASTmedia come to me with more pitches that aren't necessarily focused on what we do that would get us more coverage. We went through a few lifecycles, so it's not like this didn't happen at all. Sometimes we were focused on niche publications and other times it was more broad. When you have in house PR, it's easier to get more stories from the field and leverage PR as a channel more organically than the traditional setup. And since PR is just one of many things I manage, it wasn't always my top priority. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We put together a brand campaign to help promote and sell a specific service line that we offer, and the team did amazing work. We got placement in Fast Company, Forbes, AdAge and Salesforce Marketing Cloudcast to name a few (Salesforce is one of my favorite interviews!). We realized 104% of our earned media goal achieved a stronger share of voice in the industry. And we get to promote a lot of different people at the company. What do you like best about PANBlast?

BLAST is the best agency I've ever teamed up with. I've worked with PR agencies of all stripes and sorts– from massive Manhattan-based agencies to niche-specific boutiques– and I experienced the same thing with all of them: copy+paste PR plans that promised the woerd and were then overseen and executed by a rotating cast of AEs, none of whom tried to truly dig in to understand our company, our personnel, and what our company's mission and vision were.

What BLAST offers is a high level of dedication, thoughtfulness, and throughput. The level of service and the results they repeatedly achieved were always impressive– and they didn't achieve it by working harder or throwing more bodies at challenges: they did it because they cared about us and our business a remarkable amount.
