What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?

Palo Alto firewall is not just a firewall, it is more than a firewall. The best part of the firewall which I like most user friendly UI and robust firewall upgrade process which has 99.999% success rate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?

Well as such I don't have any dislike but yes some times when you work for small orgnization, you won't get chance to work on Palo Alto because it is bit costlier compare to other OEM's. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls solving and how is that benefiting you?

If I compare the Palo Alto NGFW with other OEM's in terms of performance, administration, User friendlyness, it will always have edge over them. And these are some real time challenges that we need to face during the firewall operation and I am happy to say Palo Alto is solving these challenges for us. What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?

Best thing about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls is Transparency and AppID.

Often times you'll find other vendors referencing max throughput which is measured in really strict conditions and/or without utilizing full security features on firewall. This is often times really missleading. When you look at PANW firewall throughput, it's measured while having all the beneficial services running.

AppID is really mind blowing part of the Firewall. From Reducing the attack surface by approving exactly what is the bare minimum of necessary apps. (Firewall it self offloads this for you, using the Policy Optimizer) all the way to knowing the impact of using such appliactions.

Generaly, features by themselves are something that you expect from firewall to have, however the approach that was taken, Reducing the Attack surface, is really what makes the ZTNA possible. All the way from segmentation, continuously inspecting the traffic, only from specific users/groups, and only allowed applications is a unbeatable combination. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?

I only dislike commit time, when you want to make a fast change and see result quickly, you must pass through commit that takes around 45 sec to complete. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls solving and how is that benefiting you?

PANW Firewall is providing a complete platform for enabling ZTNA.

From creating a security zones (aka Segments), and only allowing traffic within explicitly defined zones,

Implementing user identification (either transparent or explicit) which has endless posibilities.

Using Security Profiles to inspect allowed traffic.

Using Decryption that is not intrusive by default. (Firewall bypasses decryption on certain errors, so users are not escalating to support) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls?

The firewalls capabilty of handling traffic is top notch and the way you can develop custom App IDs are my favourite part and intergration of Palo Alto Firewalls with Gloabal Protect VPN is also amazing. We have 50+ firewalls in our organisation ranging from PA-220 and to PA-5000s series and we use panorama to manage these firewalls which makes the management easy. Also the URL firteling, WildLife threats and use of EDLs are also one of the great features of the firewalls. The options you have while implementing the new firewalls rules is something that is helpful where you can customize your rule however you want. It is very easy to implement the firewall rules, even a fresher in the security industry can easily grasp it.

Finally, the customer support, Palo Alto's customer support are very responsive and so far whatever engagement I had with them were always very prompt and very promising. They were able to help from technical to sales in a very excellent way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We are a university and firewalls are big part of our security infrastructure. We have custom requirements which we get on daily basis and the way the firewalls handles and helps in easing out the implementation is outstanding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
