"We would choose Paddle again and again"
5/5
What do you like best about Paddle?

Paddle's sales tax management is why we chose paddle. They take over tax liabilities at time of chrage which gives us peice of mind. And they take headache out of collecting and paying taxes for multiple jurisdictions. Additionally, their transparent pricing is a breath of fresh air. Unlike other services, Paddle doesn't hit us with hidden fees, making budgeting much more predictable. Set-up was easy, and the customer support via Slack is great. Overall, Paddle has proven to be a valuable partner in helping us grow our business! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paddle?

I wish payouts we're faster - but we can manage this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent payment experience, and this is very clear from our customer reviews"
5/5
What do you like best about Paddle?

The thing I liked most about the Paddle service is the ease of payment for customers in many countries of the world using bank cards without complicated registration procedures from us as companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paddle?

We hope that there is an additional way to download the payment data fields without moving to another page and remaining on the payment page on our website. This is indeed what some customers asked me during payment processes, but I told them that this is beyond my control, as it is part of the programming of the payment gateway itself.

On another level, this increases the customer’s confidence during the payment process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best merchant of record alternative"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Paddle?

My app uses both Stripe and Paddle. Implementing Paddle was quick and easy. What's great with Paddle is that it acts as a merchant of record -- so you never have to worry about VAT and it also greatly simplifies accounting.

Features aren't as numerous as in Stripe, but I'd say that's enough for my use case. I've never had to reach out to customer support until now -- everything has been working great so far.

Overall, very satisfied with Paddle! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paddle?

The interface isn't as sleek as Stripe's, but it does the job. I also wish it had a better customer portal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The perfect solution for your SaaS billing"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Paddle?

Paddle solves all the hustle of charging for your SaaS company, including tax collection which makes it super easy to start and you can focus on buidling without having to worry on anything else.

Paddle API is also great to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paddle?

I think there are some small improvements that can be done in the portal UI. For example in the customer profile and orders be able to retry webhooks notifications related to the order instead of having to go and search for it based on the created date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not as good as expected."
3/5
What do you like best about Paddle?

A nice widget design which they updated recently.

It is convenient that all payments are collected in one place and come to the company in one transfer.

No need to worry about taxes - which is incredibly convenient for working around the world.

Fast and nice customer support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paddle?

We have been working with Paddle for over a year, but what did we expect from them? Payment system, Tax system, and Subscription management system. Unfortunately, the 3rd option is executed just terribly.

There is no option to unsubscribe at the end of the cycle and no option to change (downgrade) the plan at the end of the cycle. There is no way to implement "add-ons" other than to create another subscription plan. API events also leave much to be desired, for any change in the event we will receive an "update" event, and to understand what happened, we need to do dozens of ifs in the code.

Were it not for the widget changes, we would not have seen any changes and improvements. It seems that their entire R&D team is a couple of developers.

The customer support is fast and nice, but unhelpful lately as the quality has dropped a lot. We receive complaints from both employees and customers. If earlier Paddle tried to solve the problem directly with the client, now they answer that they "cannot CC client". We have the feeling that they are not serving us, but we are serving them.

Most recent examples from memory:

Support can ask us for the customer's email address, although we sent a subscription ID in the ticket, which is enough to find the email, and not wait a few more hours for a response.

Sometimes customers get a message that "something went wrong" INSIDE the Paddle widget. However, their support responds that there are issues with our website. The reply is not professional (just check the history of subscriptions for a day to make sure there are no issues), and they also spoil our reputation with customers.

Summary:

Given all these cons, we are nonetheless still happier with the Paddle than with the FastSpring from which we switched. At least Paddle has a nice design. And we hope that they will improve in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Bianca Dragan of Paddle

Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding Paddle. Your insights are invaluable to us and play a pivotal role in shaping our services.

It’s disheartening to hear of the concerns you’ve mentioned about our Subscription management system and API events. We’ve always aimed to offer a seamless experience, and your feedback underscores areas for refinement.

Please know regarding our support team and processes that we are in a phase of transition, actively enhancing our support and aiming to return, and exceed, the service levels you expect from us.

I’d like to highlight our recently introduced features in Paddle Billing. We believe these additions bring more versatility to our platform and encourage you to explore them. I'd also recommend checking out our new Paddle Billing documentation, which you can find at developer.paddle.com for a comprehensive understanding of the updates.
