Top Rated OpCon Alternatives
Infinite capabilities; this tool will do anything. One of their consultants has told me in the past, "If a human can do it, our automation can do it." We've saved thousands of dollars in saved manhours, freeing up specialized and high-paid technicians from having to perform menial tasks. Furthermore, automation removes the potential for human-generated mistakes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Programming/configuring this system can be very complex. The support available is top-notch, so even though it can be a daunting task, there's always help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Once a schedule has been created/implemented within OpCon, I can be sure that it's going to run. The core engine underpinning the system is rock-solid. Our 'daily' tools allow us to easily see and forcast what jobs/schedules are due for the day allowing insight into up and coming work for our production staff. Many of the ancillary tools/services that are there to aid development can often be buggy, difficult to work with or have been targeted at scenarios far to specific to have a wide reach. Thus very often we end up implementing toolsets that OpCon has offerings for but ours end up executing work better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can handle jobs of any kind (scripts, REST APIs, Java applications and much more) on the most used platforms (Windows, Unix, z/OS). On top of this, OpCon adds visual interface, notification management, reporting and an evolving Web Interface. It's used by the IT department, but it can provide informations to the business management through a specific interface that can be configured with business-meaningful reports. It can read logs and access them remotely. Everything on a single machine from where you can control local or remote jobs via simple agents. It's powerful and complete. There is not to hide it: the learning curve for the product is steep. Configuring your first job will take time, and you will need much practice to master it. Sometimes some features are hard to find, and you have to be ready for some retries to get what you want. We had many jobs to migrate from the preexisting configuration and the process is slow at the beginning, since you have to gather all the informations and map them in OpCon. I have been using Opcon for 4 years now with great satisfaction. It allows you to schedule and precisely monitor our MVS, Linux, Windows jobs. The latest versions allow the writing of embedded scripts for better integration and versatile. It also has a rich set of connectors to interface with many different architectures (Linux, Windows, AIX, HP-UX, IBM i series, z / OS, SQL, OpenVMS, etc.), if necessary their talented developers can even create custom connectors (for example, for us they created a special connector for NTT's Unikix system). They even have a file transfer system between the various agents, and software to download files from a mail box to use their attachments and process them. And their technical support is really fast and very efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I found only one bug due to the different way of considering date formats if using the European format, but once we configured the server appropriately with the American date format, we no longer had any problems (no impact on job configuration, configuration impacts only at the server level).
Web browser management is incomplete but will be expanded with future releases.
The only limitation is that, since the system uses the comma as a field separator to generate events (for example, adding jobs, or email notification, or schedule builds), in certain situations it can be annoying and requires you to change your approach. In those (very few) cases I had to use other methods, for example giving up the SMArt Email component for the management of the mails, but it is the only limit and I have used other ways. I'm an OpCon customer and I'm very pleased with that. It has helped me to perform repetitive tasks, saved me energy, automated my important, repetitive tasks and made my work more accurate and entrepreneurial. All our departments have been using the tool and although it is not very much related to the field, the finance department can use it too. This software will give you an advantage over doubts, so you'll know who's right and what information you need to give them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't have any particular problems at this stage, it's a bit difficult to implement and requires training, but I can't comment on any shortcomings yet, because we improve them every day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has helped in creating projects in such a way that as a team, we are able to take our business one step forward. OpCon workload automation has enabled us to get rid of repeatable workflows by keeping the method in record, which we used in carrying out the particular task so that doing it next time it will automate it. It's hard to pick one feature. I love that it works on a wide range of systems (Windows, AIX, Linux) and is able to make my life simpler by eliminating tedious tasks from my daily routine. The self service web interface is also amazing, as it allows non technical users to run tasks in multiple systems with a couple of clicks. I also like the built in script repository that houses scripts in various scripting languages along with version control in one spot. This makes it much simpler since there is no need to hunt down where a script is stored. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find it hard to pinpoint anything I dislike. If anything, the system is overwhelming at first, but as long as you go through training and reach out to their excellent support team, you should be able to use this system to automate a wide range of tasks across numerous systems in your environment. I personally went through the training and found it enjoyable and relatable to my job and role. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
