We save a LOT of time doing data research. What used to take days or weeks now takes less than an hour. How a single field can be traced from where it is populated to everywhere it is used. What is there not to love about that? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The downsides with Octopai still have their upside. It takes time to fill in the blanks for the data catalog, but Octopai even figured out how to make that easy by uploading Excel spreadsheets with your details. The meta data discovery feature is most helpful. It is really helpful in doing the impact analysis. Reduces the time by almost 75%.

Visualization of lineage, cross-system visibility, great support - very quick responses. Ability to build data lineage on the fly. Sometimes loses track of connections for certain types of functions - such as renaming tables, the switch command, and the use of variables. The inner system lineage can be quite cumbersome for complex processes, such as stored procedures. The ability to hide certain objects and connections on the fly would be helpful. Also, a more dynamic resizing ability would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

User friendly enough for technical members, others may need a bit of getting used to. CSM is supportive and helping us with specific sessions/recordings.

Sometimes same searches that worked quickly, take longer than anticipated and not really sure what slows it down.

No sort option in most places where you expect them to be, making it really hard to find what you are looking for.

No advance search in some places where it is essential.

Could do with extract to excel in couple of places.

The problem is above functionality is available in the tool is some places but not all.

So the tool can handle sort/advance search/extract to Excel , but just not been designed consistently to have all the options everywhere. Which is strange!

Automated Data Catalog search is a bit too messy

User guides are a bit too basic or gives you obvious information. Need expanding a bit more.
