There's nothing new I liked - I now have more control over our cloud based solutions at my current job, and switching to Egnyte is just something that's not even on the radar. I have no interest in it at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Egnyte in our engineering firm to manage large files across multiple offices. It allows us to access large CAD files along with other documents on the go without manual uploads, downloads, and conflicting copies. I like that it provides co-editing on supported documents like Microsoft Office files. Egnyte reduces the need to manage the logistical backend of file management, and being able to map the drives in the normal fashion Windows does makes file access simpler. The mobile app is beneficial because it hosts file readers for CAD files, which is great for discussing project details with clients on the go. Mapping drives also helps us operate normally, speeding up work efficiency. The integration with Microsoft backend for login and security access is useful as it reduces the need for another password for users. Leaving files open on a machine when it goes to sleep can cause Egnyte to disconnect and lose access to the files. This means that a local copy of the file may be cached and re-open as read-only then it needs to be reloaded. While reliability has been okay, it can become a bit slow from time to time. Egnyte has continued to streamline their integration with MacOS and Microsoft 365. The co-editing ability available directly from our file server, without the need to duplicate documents in SharePoint, has improved our workflows and made it possible to easily collaborate on Microsoft documents.

The native search feature in MacOS Finder now also searches Egnyte file folders, which makes in a lot easier to find documents without the need to open Egnyte's web application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is a minor issue that has a big impact, but I am finding that users are not paying attention to the alert from Egnyte that their files have not uploaded due to unsupported characters, or most commonly trailing spaces. What I like best about Egnyte is that it keeps everything in one place and makes it easy to stay organized without slowing us down. It’s simple to find the right file fast, share it securely with the right people, and control access so we’re not worried about the wrong version floating around or sensitive documents ending up in the wrong hands. The permissions and link-sharing options give a lot of peace of mind, and it works smoothly whether I’m in the office or remote. Overall, it helps us stay consistent, compliant, and efficient. What I dislike about Egnyte is that it can feel a little clunky and slower than it should at times—especially when you’re dealing with large folders, lots of files, or syncing. The desktop sync can be confusing (and it’s not always obvious what’s truly synced vs. just online), which can create version issues if someone isn’t careful. Search is usually decent, but it’s not always consistent, and permissions can get complicated to manage as the folder structure grows. Not being able to see exactly what each person has open makes things harder than they need to be, because I end up having to ask my teammates instead of just checking it myself.

The best thing about this platform is that it has a stable balance between security and usability. Honestly most users like me mention the mobile app could use a UI refresh. Also, advanced features can be a bit of a learning curve. Mobile app navigation could be more intuitive.
