Microsoft Power Automate Pros and Cons

I like the fact that there are a lot of connectors and applications you can connect to, whether it's Outlook, Gmail, or almost anything you can name. It is so easy to create flowcharts and connect different applications using Power Automate. I worked on a task where the system would send an email to people who booked a room in my application. I really like that powerautomate allows your to creatively solution for complex things. With clicks not code, and copilot - it makes solving autonomy easily. One of the things that stands out about Microsoft Power Automate is its user-friendly interface, I've played around with similar products before and they are not as intuitive as Microsoft's Power Automate. We utilized RPA on three large projects that were taking staff an average of 60 hours per month - now all the processes run automatically once a month and employees don't have to do mindless data entry for quite as long.

I was surprised how robust the bots capabilities are, and how easy it was to get it to work with our very niche ERP system. What I like most about it was its integration with the SharePoint ecosystem which my company bought into and basically all of our off data was somewhere within the SharePoint tenant, though unorganized. As a full stack web developer of over 20 years, I was frustrated by the fact that it used technologies like JavaScript in an unconventional way mixed in with proprietary schemas and class libraries. I guess I just wish that I could use the web technologies integrated in Power Automate more like I would with any other web app. I think power automate would benefit from becoming a more standardized web development platform powered by standardized a web accessible API. Microsoft Power Automate is very limited and falls short in environments where Microsoft is not the main source for digital processes. Often, in large organizations where digital processes are distributed across various environments like Google, Oracle, Dropbox, Cisco webex, Salesforce, and others, more universally compatible tools such as Nintex, offer greater flexibility with these applications and more advance RPA for complex procesess. Having the Power to Automate! It is like I have an assistant working when I am not working. Having the capability to automate has been a game changer in my line of work. What I dislike about Microsoft Power Automate is how my flow would perform correctly for multilple days and then all of sudden it crashes. That slows my productivity and the efficiency of the office. I work as a data analyst and data engineer. Power automate helps us to automate simple processes that are repititive or currently done manually. We automate about one new process per month, so we use it once a week. Its also nice that more junior team members can use it as it is easy to use and intuitive and the implementation or integration in teams or sharepoint usually works quite well.
