What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

Webmail client is well laid out and easy to use. Management takes some getting used to, but needed functions aren't buried too deep. As a server for imap and pop clients it is a nice piece of software. Cost is reasonable. Support is good for the issues they have fixes for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

The MDaemon connector for outlook leaves a lot to be desired. Undo frequently fails. Sorting and searching frequently fail. As mailboxes get bigger with many attachments, the client gets buggier and buggier. Part of Alt-N's response is to add an exclusion to the directory of your email store. I consider this practice unacceptable. As someone who migrated from Exchange Server, I was able to reasonably replicate most of the Exchange features we used. What I could not do was provide my outlook users those functions and a stable platform. We are moving back to Exchange. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MDaemon Email Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had a 12yr old exchange server and needed to replace the hardware and software. The total cost to implement madaemon was less than 20% of the cost to implement an on-premises exchange server. It fulfilled most of our email needs except for edge cases ... of course, edge cases are mostly upper management who insisted we implement the less expensive option. Three years with mdaemon, and they are now more receptive to paying for Exchange. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Most excellent logging/intelligence you'll find"

What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

MDaemon is filled to the brim with features, true, but my favourite aspect of it is the logging. Whatever is happening on your mail server, you'll be able to trace exactly what is going on, when, and where. Nobody likes pouring through thousands of lines of log files, but all mail administrators know that it's part of the job, and you'd rather have all the data there ready for you when you need it. MDaemon gives you the intel you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Some of its components can be a tad unstable at times (i.e., content filter engine getting stuck at 99% CPU and requiring an application restart), but on a server that's up 24/7, this happens seldom and is only a minor annoyance. Also, we have had slight issues with one of the antivirus engines the product employs (it uses two concurrently). The above problems have been relatively easy to deal with, and MDaemon's support was very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering MDaemon Email Server:

Even if you don't use it for full-blown mailbox access, using it as a perimeter/edge gateway in concert with another product like Microsoft Exchange is excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MDaemon Email Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

Again, the intelligence factor is critical. Sometimes clients need to know where their email is going or why their clients claim they haven't received something. Being able to tell my clients with absolute certainty that the message reached the destination and the problem isn't on their end is wonderful and gives them confidence in their systems and our support. "Superb and extremely reliable replacement for Microsoft Exchange"

What do you like best about MDaemon Email Server?

We are a very long time user of Mdaemon email server (going back to the late 90's). I especially enjoy the very easy and straightforward server management it provides. We have also used Microsoft Exchange and, without any hesitation, will always choose Mdaemon over Exchange. There is really no comparison when it comes to ease of management and disaster recovery. I also love the fact I can watch, in real time, email flow and server handshakes. This makes it extremely easy to troubleshoot mail flow issues between servers. The logging is also extremely thorough. Also, the fact that all messages are stored as standard text based .msg files means it is extremely simple to backup and restore mailboxes and perform disaster recovery (if ever needed).

Lastly, there is the price advantage. Mdaemon pricing simply blows all other comparable options out of the water. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MDaemon Email Server?

Honestly, there is nothing I dislike about Mdaemon. It performs exactly as needed and is extremely powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Mdaemon is a great SMTP tool that makes it easy to send out automated reports, efficiently send mail without significant network overhead, and allows control of what is being sent. To show emails as conversations:

> log into your MDaemon Email account > Settings > Personalize > under Inbox Settings, check the box next to Enable Message List Threading.

To display shared calendar events in the same color for all calendar users:

*please note, only global and domain admins can change the default domain categories and personal categories, and they can enforce the personal categories and their colors*

>in MDaemon Remote Admin > under Main > Webmail Settings > Categories, admins can manage Domain categories and default User personal categories and the colors that are used for those categories.
