What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

Maybe if I had enough time to learn to use all the features, I would like it. I do not have time for excessive training. This needs to be more user-friendly, "intuitive". After 2 years, I still don't know how to pull up the class results so I can see which questions were the most missed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

It should not take so long for a reasonably intelligent person to learn how to use this. Just to setup the "trackers" is not obvious and takes far too many steps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MasteryConnect solving and how is that benefiting you?

None. I have found the PD and "community" options far too time consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

I love using this program as a warm up for students in the beginning of class. It is useful to review and introduce topics. I also use it to demonstrate test-taking skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

The website can be a bit difficult to navigate if you are not familiar with it. When assigning assessments to multiple classes, it can become time-consuming because you have to go through class by class to get the code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am solving issues with student learning gaps. I can use the system to gather data on what skills students are struggling with, so I can go spend more time in those particular areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

The one saving grace is that when you do manage to find what your looking for it is a treasure trove of useful data and meaningful analytics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

This program was designed by a data genius who is organizationally incompetent. The website is one of the slowest website I've ever been on. The organization is comparable to navigating the attic of a hoarder. Finding the relevant data is an excursion into the unknown. Posting tests to students is always confusing even after 2 years of use. This is not a matter of tweaking things here and there. The whole site should be overhauled! It's horrible! I'd rather trek through a jungle with snakes than try to navigate MasteryConnect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MasteryConnect solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is so difficult to use that I avoid using it at all costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

Assessments are uploaded and students can take them without the teacher having to grade tests. Mastery Connect grades for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

It is sometimes confusing when trying to find a specific quiz or test after students have taken it. In addition, if a student is in two classes in one discipline, his or her mastery overlaps the information of the two teachers. For instance, a student in a reading class (ELA standards) who is also in a grade-level ELA class will have his or her mastery of standards showing within the same area. Both teachers will see the information, making it quite confusing. Another negative is that tests can no longer be taken with audio for those students who need tests read to them. Teachers must then read the test, which ties up the teacher during test time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering MasteryConnect:

I would really check out Mastery Connect before you decide to purchase this program. Check out the ease of use as it can be quite confusing at times. There are some good things, but overall, I am not pleased with it. After spending $21K for the program about four years ago, my school system is now looking for a new program to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MasteryConnect solving and how is that benefiting you?

Benefits are that the teacher does not have to grade the test, other than writing portions or solved problems on math tests. The program does provide mastery of standards in one place, so the teacher can see who did and did not master a standard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

Mastery Connect allows teachers to design tests and quizzes that can be graded through photo scan for lack of better words. Kids take a test or quiz, fill in a bubble sheet to record their answers, walk to my laptop and hold their paper in front on the camera and it's graded and recorded. Both teacher and parent can see results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

Every test uses standards so each type of question needs to be aligned to a standard. Not that this is a negative, it just takes time and effort to design your quizzes and tests. Sometimes parents feel overwhelmed with too much info. They have commented to me that they just want to know if they kid passed the test in general not standard by standard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering MasteryConnect:

This software is easy to learn and really allows the teacher to analyze data by standard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MasteryConnect solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mastery Connect allows districts to share common core tests among its teachers. As an individual I'm able to create and share my work if I wamt, or keep it private. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

With Mastery Connect, you can create assessments, grade them, and see where your students have grown and need additional support in over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

Navigation through different parts of the website can be cumbersome. It is not particularly initiative, and when you are trying to get to different reports, you have to re-navigate through for different classes/trackers. You also can't use the same standards in more than one unit, which means spiraled curriculum cannot be divided into units. It would also be nice if it could "talk" to the program we use for student grades. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MasteryConnect solving and how is that benefiting you?

Data collection, time management, productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MasteryConnect?

Like all software in education, there's a time and place for it. I have seen Mastery Connect implemented beautifully and horribly, to no fault of Mastery Connect. Here are the pros:

- Comprehensive platform for assessing students and benchmarking

- Well organized and user-friendly for both teachers and students

- Tons of standards-based assessments are loaded and ready to be utilized

- Student knowledge can be gauged in real time with immediate feedback

- Teachers can critically analyze data and most of the heavy lifting is done by the software

- Linked to to Common Core standards

- Exceptional amount of content, specifically for ELA and Math

- Editable assessments that can be saved and shared, as well as downloaded. Some assessments are peer reviewed.

- Ability to enter raw scores and rubrics

- Grades can be exported to student gradebooks

- Includes a parent portal feature Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MasteryConnect?

Few cons come to mind regarding the actual platform, but I do feel that there is a steep learning curve. In my experience, a trainer was provided to help orient and provide an overview; however, it was not very helpful. Another concern is that this is a pricey platform. I get it - they are an edtech company, but the price makes this difficult for some districts to justify. This isn't something a sole teacher could really use, either. Another concern is with how school leadership chooses to implement this platform - it is not designed to be a one stop shop for all assessments and it cannot replace other tried and true assessment methods (informal, formative, project-based, etc.), though some leaders insist on forcing to be used that way. So please proceed with that in mind if you are on a leadership team at your district or school. All in all, few cons with the actual platform other than the fact that it is a bit overwhelming at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
