What do you like best about Mapbox?

The Mapbox team is top-notch. They are always ready to answer questions, provide support, and even take requests for bugfixes and new features. During our trial period, they even volunteered to create a custom map style just for our company, which looks stunning. Mapbox.js and Mapbox-gl-js are easy to learn and use, with large communities around them and a long list of examples. Finally, the Mapbox service itself is very affordable when compared with Google Maps, especially now that Google hiked up their prices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Mapbox?

The only thing I dislike about Mapbox is the fact that WebGL support is still spotty on some browsers, meaning you have to engineer a fallback to Mapbox.js (the old library) if you want to have robust browser support. Since Mapbox.js and Mapbox-gl-js have totally different APIs, this means you will be writing your map code twice. Also, the geocoding accuracy isn't all the way up to Google's level yet, but for most data this won't be a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Mapbox:

The two main issues are browser support and geocoding accuracy. Do some tests on their geocoder using a trial account, and run some analytics to see how many of your users are on IE9 and IE10. If you are pleased with those two situations, then I highly recommend Mapbox to everyone! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Mapbox solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our company could have paid hundreds of millions of dollars extra to Google after their price hikes. Instead, we are switching to Mapbox and rewriting our map code. Already, our maps look way better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
