Using it since 2009, since its first version, Anything and everything an e-commerce application may need are in-built Magento. Regular updates and a huge marketplace for extensions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Spaghetti Code, Fine-tune server configuration via experts for optimal performance. Dependency on 3rd party extension and compatibility issues due to version upgrades. High licensing cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Payment and shipping options are good for ecom devel;opment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
for me magento its expoensive as i got very few clinets to afford this price so they are switching for other competetive and reasonable option! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best CMS for ecommerce. Complete, stable, powerful. It has everything you need and can be expanded by any kind of plugin. Perfect in the management of warehouses and sales flows. Customizable in every aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Magento is often heavy, has a very slow learning curve, and is suitable for experts only. Not suitable for small projects and small budgets Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The amount of customization possible with Magento is off-the-charts
As an open-source software, it provides a lot of flexibility to build powerful e-commerce sites. Complete e-commerce features can be customized and built from scratch.
Within the Magento community there are bast resources to get material to help you build. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Given the complexity of its features, it gets challenging to implement and maintain. Updating pricing lists and products master lists required long amount of time. It's easy to get lost inside its bast features. Magento's configuration panel is not intuitive at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The caching system is very good. It is possible to have tens of thousands of products with incredible performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The discount system. Magento works based on discounts for the same product and not with products, for example, in the same category. It would be ideal for discounts like buy 2 get 3. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like Magento because it is based on PHP, and it has its JavaScript architecture, which includes knockout JS, requireJS, jQuery, and a lot more. I like the way we can create modules to extend or give new functionality to Magento. I also like the Magento training section where Magento has provided courses in frontend development, backend development and for merchandizers as well as solution specialists. I like the Magento's one page checkout which is a single page application built on knockout javascript library and it is also not very difficult to work on it's customization. Magento has a very big community of users so it is also very good in terms of pull request review and ask for any coding help and support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are only a few small things that I don't like, but that's not a big deal, so I wouldn't mention it here because those are something you can easily ignore without any issue. I also don't like some of the courses which Magento provide because of their complexity and difficulty to understand what it is trying to explain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lots of customizations options. With the help of a developer for most things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Difficult to use. Lots of bugs and errors. We are constantly working with a developer to fix minor issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I would suggest using Magento when we are planning to develop e-commerce apps. Magento open source is free to use and also supports various options for libraries which makes development easy. The competitors for Magento are open-cart and woo commerce, but I would rather suggest Magento when you are intended to develop small size apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I faced a very bad experience with Magento. In the past, I have developed one application in Magento, there was a cache issue and due to that I was not able to see my updated code over there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pagebuilder was built-in and intuitive. It also had functionality to create custom blocks and templates to minimize repeatedly entering code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setup was not as straight-forward and required setup of external libraries like elasticsearch, containerization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Our e-commerce system being hosted by Magento, allows us to customize our internal search engine for functions we need. We can easily add or remove things we do not consider useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Exporting CSV reports could be a little more organized, but it reports what we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
