LucidLink has great support. We were given everything we needed to implement the system. It always runs super stable and if you need help to set up individual users differently, you get help quickly. The integration itself is fast (a few minus points for Mac users). Overall it is super easy to use and we use it every day with 110 employees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The compatibility with Mac chips is still very awkward. Especially in a company like ours, where there are many remote employees. They have to go through the -not so complicated - process themselves. Sharing files with external people is still difficult. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I never have to think about it! It is so rare to have a business software that does NOT need constant teddy bearing, but LucidLink is one such software. Since I've set it up on my mac and mounted the space I'm working with, I have not had to think about what LucidLink does, how it does it, or anything. The connection wakes up by itself when my Mac wakes or after it has been rebooted. And it just works. This software is really helpful for us being in the e-commerce space. We host and collaborate on all of our creatives - videos, ads, pictures, packaging materials, product design, everything. Even the feed files for Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That there is no iOS app! This is my biggest drama, honestly. Sometimes, I have a thought while on the go and I know that if I could just open a pdf that is hosted in our company LucidLink space, I can just see what I need and allow my thought to continue... It is pretty minor though, since that only happens when I'm not at work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly LucidLink has completely changed my entire editing teams workflow. Our team all work remotely and before using LucidLink we were either having to meetup to transfer footage or having to upload it to G Drive and then download it. This was a major hassle and massively slowed down our entire process. I also really like that I can pin files so they are saved locally (especially useful when the internet isn't up to par)
Now we can literally send one message to each other and say can you take a look at a project and they can instantly open it up and continue working on the project. Other than the editing software itself, this is now the most essential tool we have for editing.
I would recommend trying this if you work with a team or have to work from more than one computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside is unpinning files I have saved locally. I wish there was an easier way to see all the files I've pinned so I could quickly select all and unpin them (maybe there is a way to do this, but I can't seem to find it) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had thought this software too good to be true however, it has been monumental in the transformation of our company's video editing workflows. We've a team nationwide and this has saved me a great deal of time and money. We previously were purchasing hard drives, transferring footage to a workable drive and a back-up drive then sending to our editors via post.
Now we simply back-up, create proxy files, and upload to Lucid Link and have editors jumping onto the project immediately.
Game changer! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downfalls i've found are to do with the user interface of the desktop app. Lucid are naively assuming when it comes to the customers' understanding of applying the product. When setting up, if you're not familiar with coding / computer science terminology you may need assistance to get right from the start. For example; it asks you to define a filespace with a root path. Establishing cache sizes and understanding local pathways i found confusing having only ever used Mac. I switched to Lucid Link around April 2024, and it has been a GAME CHANGER for my team and I. Between editing photos and videos and managing social media, it's so lovely to have access to all the files from any of our computers and to have changes almost instantly on every end. I recommend it to all my friends. Their customer service is incredible, too. I once had a few questions, and they got on a Zoom call with me and walked me through everything in real time together, which was very appreciated and helpful because I am more of a visual learner. It felt a little daunting and scary to set up. In the end, it wasn't bad, but I remember that being something that at the time felt annoying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LucidLink enables our production company to embrace a distributed workflow during production (dailies and general edit assist workflows) and post in a way we have not been able to before. We've been working somewhat remotely for many years, but Lucidlink removes a huge amount of friction around drive clones and keeping files an projects up-to-date between the editorial team. The convenience, transparency to workflow and cost savings are significant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We lost a day's work when our internet connection went down and we couldn't access the server. All media was of course backed up and we could restore the proejct happily, but our short outage meant that by the time the project was up and running from our backups, we were back online with LucidLink. Some forwawrd planning to avoid these shorter outages to the LucidLink sever (and be able to switch to local drivs quickly) has become a part of our backup regime and workflow. Our team is very small and completely remote. LucidLink is a fantastic way for us to share and store files. Its so seamless we forget we're using it!
We've also been using it share with vendors/outsource teams and its been so simple to onboard new members and connect with the teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
After over a year working with LucidLink, I really don't see any down sides to working with the platform Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LucidLink offers a seamless and effective solution for us as a remote and globally scattered Marketing team. I love that we can collaborate in real time on shared work files and assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, nothing! We've been using it for a little over a year now and it is a game-changer. I will NEVER go back to a different way of working as a remote team.
If I have to say one thing, which is not a deal breaker, but sometimes LucidLink doesn't support the file naming convention I choose. It doesn't allow for some symbols or characters to be used. But not a major issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
LucidLink makes remote collaboration effortless. The ability to access large files instantly without downloading them is a game-changer, especially for teams working with video, design, and other heavy assets. It feels just like working off a local drive, even when you're halfway across the world. The real-time syncing and file-locking features also prevent version conflicts, making teamwork much smoother. While LucidLink is great, it does require a strong internet connection to function seamlessly. If your connection is slow or unstable, you might experience lag or delays when accessing files. Also, the pricing can be a bit steep for smaller teams or solo users compared to traditional cloud storage options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
