What do you like best about Lookback?

I like that we can invite our own users for usability testing, whether moderated or not. I like that it records the sessions and stores them. It is convenient to be able to create different projects and add descriptions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

Users have a lot of difficulty with the plug-in, which sometimes causes no-shows. I found out that some of the users came to the session, but we could not see each other for some reason. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

We currently use Lookback for interviews but we are planning on using it for recruiting our users for usability tests by embedding the the link. This will help us channel our resources by reducing the time spent recruiting users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Lookback?

I never had any difficulty navigating through Lookback. The UI is easy to figure out, it's easy to integrate into other platforms, video is easy to analyze and splice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

Lookback is a remote user interview tool, that does what it's supposed to do well.

When we were using it they didn't offer a transcription tool that would have been valuable to have but they may have upgraded it since we used it a couple years ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

It was an excellent preliminary UX tool, but we moved on to other platforms that offered more holistic solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like the most is that many people can observe the interviews live and comment on what is happening with the interviewer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

nothing in particular. Maybe some more features could be added to ease the technical problems on the team side (poor connection for example) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

It is easy to use and you will have the feeling that user interviews are not rocket science! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lookback shorten the distance between the scrum teams and the discovery work, as it puts in the loop everyone very easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Lookback?

My favorite feature was that a participant during a user interview has no idea how many other observers are there. It's so valuable for team members (designers, engineers, product, etc.) to hear things directly from users during a testing session; however, in some tools, they can see every person on the call. When they see all of those names, they sometimes clam up and aren't as open with their feedback during a research session.

I also loved the ability to communicate directly with observers in the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

Some users had trouble getting into a session through the tool. They needed to download the app and allow several permissions before they were connected with me. Without another contact method (which I usually didn't have because of PII concerns), it wasn't easy to troubleshoot. When I sent out a 1-page PDF with step-by-step instructions and screenshots of what to do, that helped a bit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

Key benefit is a tool with high-quality video that allows me to have multiple observers without compromising the research quality.

I'm using Lookback to conduct user testing sessions (mostly usability and concept tests). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Lookback?

When lookback works, it's absolutely perfect!

Most users go through the installation process just fine because of the clear instructions.

Audio and video are usually pretty clear (but this depends on the user's bandwidth).

I LOVE the notes with timestamping and the ability to have observers go back and rewatch sessions! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

When a user is even *slightly* tech illiterate, or there are bandwidth issues, lookback suffers from the same problems as every other similar service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use lookback mainly for remote usability testing for new software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Lookback?

The moderated sessions, it has a nice panel for interviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

Technical issues arise. Also there is no good categorization for highlighting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

Very nice tool just for doing your user interviews. Also it can support unmoderated sessions. Be careful though, not good analysis afterwards. I would thoroughly recommend it if you are conducting interviews as it is one really value for money tool, compared to other options in the market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

I run the user testing sessions for my company. It is a simple and value for money tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Lookback?

My favorite feature is the ability to bookmark certain timestamps of recorded sessions and add notes. Our UXR then goes in to compile all this qualitative data into our UX Research repository for easy search of terms associated to certain features we were testing at the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

I wish there was a desktop notification through the browser letting us know that a user has joined and is waiting for the facilitator to start. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

I would recommend trying it out first. once you have a session recorded, change the speed of the playback so you can review your footage and notes a lot more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a small team of 7 UX Designers, UI Designers and UX Researchers that share the tasks of research in our company. Lookback lets us curate UX test sessions in an organized manner by providing tools for us to show user sentiment (camera on user) as well as share their screen. In addition to that we are able to input notes (qualitative data) right on the video via timestamps. I really like the highlight feature because these are the types of reactions we want to show our executives and stakeholders to help us defend our rationale. What do you like best about Lookback?

What I like the most about using lookback is while watching all the usability test recording is to add comments right on the seekback while watching and examining the videos. The fact that you can record screen and your camera facing the user is absolutely what I like the most in lookback. I can easily download twi version of the recordings, screen-shot and user facing the camera. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

Unfortunately lookback does NOT yet support any big screen/ smart TV as well as Apple for recording. We are a cross platform subscription service and would love to get this future available for us. In addition while sharing recorded videos with other teammates, its asking for additional fees. Sometimes video would go black and white and I know how to fix it. You no longer support Mac lookback application which I have more confident in using it while recording. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

For beginners this would be a fast and easy way to start user testing, remotely and without even an official lab. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are subscription based OTT service and monthly payment is required for our service. however making this commitment for the user is a brand new experience which we have to challenge our branding and sign-up process to gain their trust. User lookback while introducing new features, one of the simplest realization was adding security icons in our payment page. Making it more safe for the user. In result we had 8% conversation rate. What do you like best about Lookback?

I really like how I can add notes to the videos and also easily watch the old recordings and rewind/fast forward easily. I like the ease that lookback gives people, I am able to watch a live session from anywhere and also able to go back and refer to old recordings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

I really don't like how I cannot close the chat portion when viewing sessions on lookback. I usually use slack to contact the user research moderator instead of using the chat/comment portion. Because I want to make the video screen larger I wish I could close the chat part. I also wish the entire block would be clickable when trying to see old recordings instead of just the text link of the participant. I also wish I didn't have to click twice to join a live session. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

I think Lookback overall is pretty simple to use, but I would definitely tell others to check out other competitors. I think my favorite part of Lookback is really the ease of watching a live session, but the most frustrating part is not being able to minimize the chat portion Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lookback provides the benefits to employees of being able to watch and refer back to old recordings so we can analyze the user feedback later on. It helps us solve how users feel/respond to designs, content, etc. The main benefits I've seen is that employees can see the recordings live from anywhere which is awesome. Business wise, we are usually solving user problems, bringing in participants to see how they would respond, feel, or expect user flows and experiences to be. What do you like best about Lookback?

One of the real innovative features of Lookback is the real-time remote user research. You can communicate directly with the users and see what they see while getting their reactions as they happen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Lookback?

It can be frustrating when the connection drops. It's only happened to me personally twice but its not cool. It only happens for a few seconds but it always seems to be right at the point I am most interested. Murphy's Law I guess. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Lookback:

Consider what you are requiring to do with a user testing service as well as your budget. There are a number of services out there, you just need to find the one that's the best for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Lookback solving and how is that benefiting you?

I have used Lookback for a few different things. When we launched our new website it was helpful to get direct feedback from users. It saved us tons of time and money with the last phase of development. We also used Lookback to conduct post purchase interviews with clients. They were very impressed with the high-tech, sophisticated methods in which we conducted the interview (thanks Lookback). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
