Labster Overview

What is Labster?

Labster is the world’s leading platform for virtual labs and science simulations.Students’ learning outcomes improve with Labster because we engage them with game-based elements that inspire them to explore science. Students then apply their knowledge to solve a real world problem within the context of a story. Inside the 3D environment of an immersive simulation, students master curriculum-aligned theory, interact with advanced equipment, learn techniques and perform experiments.Labster makes an educator’s job easier, integrating with the most popular LMS (learning management system) platforms and freeing up their time by automatically grading quiz questions and providing them with a dashboard of student performance data.

What do you like best about Labster?

The ease of use of the product for instructors as well as for students. In addition, it provides the opportunity for students to perform activities that otherwise we won't be able to do due to our limited resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Labster?

I don't have anything that I dislike about Labster. Although accessibility is something to be improved although I know students will be able to use Labster on an App this coming Fall, which I think is fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Labster solving and how is that benefiting you?

Labster provides the opportunity to do experiments virtually. This was a good alternative for laboratory experiments, especially during the pandemic were most of the classes are being conducted online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Labster?

The simulations are well designed and realistic! Students like the modern feel and the fact the simulation connects to real-life events. I appreciate the lab manual integrated in the simulations and the questions that keep students engaged during the process Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Labster?

Sometimes slow to load on a computer. The integration is tricky but once you follow instructions then you can copy the sections semester after semester. I would like for them to expand the offer for microbiology Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Labster solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am using labster now as a pre-laboratory activity that my students have to complete before meeting in the lab for the hands-on experiments. It also helps cut the time for the safety part at the beginning of the semester as I use their safety simulation which is engaging for students. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Labster?

There are many other virtual platforms out there today - however, Labster is different on many levels. Labster provides a challenging environment and diversified topics that are simply not found on other platforms. The gamification atmosphere is one that the students respond to. So, in a way, it is meeting the students where they are while at the same time enabling them to understand the content and explore labs that we just do not have the resources for them to conduct in a public school. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Labster?

While the virtual landscapes are beautiful, multi-layered, and provide real-world experiences for the students; sometimes they can be a little "too big" and glitch. The upside is that the tech support from Labster is beyond amazing and can walk you and your students through any difficulties that you may encounter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Labster:

My students can recall information and experiences within the Labster platform over a year later. This not only increases short-term gains of knowledge but enables you to continually build towards greater mastery because the learning is long-lasting. Are their other platforms out there, yes of course. However, this platform is different in that they have developed virtual labs about topics that I could only dream about conducting in my class. Now, the barrier of cost of running these labs is not there. You can either use these experiences as a pre/post assessment for a lab, or as an extension activity for those students who are truly excited about a topic. The other platforms simply do not have this breadth of topics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Labster solving and how is that benefiting you?

Labster directly reduces teacher workload by creating unique virtual lab experiences that both engages the students and teaches them valuable skills that they are able to recall longer than with traditional instruction methods. Additionally, the teacher dashboard provides real time data on student performance that can help you tailor your instruction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
