What is KORONA POS?

KORONA POS was founded in 2011 and is a cloud-based point of sale built for retailers, quick-service dining, and ticketing businesses. It was built to help businesses automate operations, gain insight into performance, and effectively scale. KORONA POS software comes with a user-friendly and fully customizable front-end cashier system. Users can create unique button layouts, change prices and buttons, add images and descriptions, set different user permissions, add automated prompts, and adjust the customer-facing screen with different messaging, loyalty logins, or advertising. The back-end of KORONA POS is called KORONA Studio. Here, merchants are offered vast inventory management features, robust sales reporting and KPI metrics, employee management, vendor relations, gift card management, customizable promotions, ticketing features, loss prevention features, self-checkout solutions, RFID technology, and modern payment options. It's also fully integrated with card processing, eCommerce, accounting, payroll and scheduling apps, and CRM systems and contains an open API through which any merchant or partner can build any integration to KORONA POS. KORONA POS is a subscription-based cloud POS system. Each account is billed by the number of terminals and includes automated updates, full customer support, and no additional fees. The KORONA POS cloud is updated quarterly with new features and integrations. Merchants can also use existing hardware solutions that run on Windows or Linux operating systems. Customer support is included in every subscription and is reachable promptly by phone, chat, and email, and emergency phone support is available 24/7. What do you like best about KORONA POS?

We switched over from an older POS to Korona almost 5 years ago. The system is great! Fast, efficient, customizable, and has great reporting tools as well! We use it everyday, with only minor issues here and there. A quick call to the support staff will always fix it, they are are very friendly and based in the USA! What do you dislike about KORONA POS?

The system software is originally from Germany, so there was a slight learning curve trying to figure out POS button sequences. It's the most efficient, but it takes some getting used to. There are also a lot of features, which is a plus, but they aren't all explained very well without multiple emails/calls with the support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about KORONA POS?

The "all-in-one" system capabilities such as ticketing, retail, food/beverage, online sales, and more. Having one POS that can be sufficient in multiple different areas is extremely beneficial for both reporting and operational purposes. The ticketing portion of Korona is fantastic for validation of tickets, reloading wristbands, scanning at turnstiles and handheld devices, and more.

The customer service is also consistent and very helpful. We have worked with other systems that do not have good customer service and can be impossible to reach. The team really cares about solving issues and coming up with solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about KORONA POS?

What do you like best about KORONA POS?

6+ years, have never added Invoicing functionality for net terms clients

SW updates happen without notice, without documentation

SW updates consistently worse. Remove functions like checking stock and store prices in 3 clicks to a 20 click exercise. Every time you save a Quote, it throws up a splash screen/click OK. Why? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is KORONA POS solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's OK for tracking COGS. Have to export Supplier data monthly, and an Org Report, lots of copying and pasting into our acctg SW. They had advertised a QuickBooks linkage, but oddly the data exchanged imports your Inventory value (current asset) but does not add a corresponding liability (Supplier AP) to balance. So that is completely absurd and actually was a big problem to undo that data import.

We like the B2B aspect of having Customer Groups (Retail, Commercial, etc) and pricing assigned to such groups, BUT there still is no Invoicing on Net Terms despite requesting this feature over 6+ years now.

The data exports are OK, except certain critical fields are LOCKED and they will not let us gain access to our own data necessary to migrate to other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This user went live with KORONA POS despite the team, from the very start of the sales process, recommending alternative software and advising him that KORONA was not a good fit for his business. He went live anyway and continued using KORONA POS for several years despite continuing to receive that feedback and multiple offers to help him transition to a new system. He consistently asked for new features and tools that we had long told him were not in our development plans and complained when they didn't appear on product updates. The team at KORONA repeatedly told him that there would not be invoicing functionality for net terms clients. Plus, all software updates happen quarterly and come with cloud updates, email notifications to all users (unless the user unsubscribed from emails as he did), and thorough manual pages explaining the changes. Updates also have never included a 20-click process for checking stock prices, but it's this type of exaggeration that made offering helpful support to this user impossible. He has since moved on to a POS solution that is better suited to his business, with our support team's continued assistance, despite his hostile demeanor and offensive phone calls. We pride ourselves on full transparency and honesty during the sales process and will continue to do so. We know that our POS solution, like any, can never be the right fit for all business types, but instead must focus on serving specific niches exceedingly well. This is what we will always strive to do.

Speed, reliability and robust feature sets are critical for a retail business. Korona has an amazing architecture that enables these key concepts, plus a solid discipline in releasing new improvements on a regular basis without any interruption in business. Korona is a robust POS solution and includes many features that you may not ever use, however, they are there when you need them. It is not efficient to learn all of these features at the beginning of deployment, so this slows down implementations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is KORONA POS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Korona POS is delivering all of the key features any size of retailer might need. Their POS functions are second to none with even customizability, while the cloud back end includes most reporting and stock management functionality a retailer needs. They also enable endless 3rd party integration capability, which has been proven over and over again. They have even added an integration services module that allows for hosting of custom modules and real time integrations with other solutions. One key component is user viewable error logging for troubleshooting. So, the key here is that they are providing a platform that is future proof and works for most retail types, including ticketing and event scheduling, which dynamic retailers need. What do you like best about KORONA POS?

Our store has been using Korona POS and it has made running our buisness easier. The system allows for us to enter and remove things from inventory easily and frequently. When we have hiccups we are able to reach their customer service who is responsive and quick with answers. The instilation was not too difficult to complete. What do you dislike about KORONA POS?

The back end of the system is not as accesable for general users. You need a higher lever of technology skill set to work the back end of the system, which we run into issues with when people are not used to or have not been directly taught how to run the system. Another thing that would be nice is creating a program where you can update your equipment i.e. the computer/physical POS. It would be nice if there was a way to return old equipment to update to new equipment without having to pay outright for the new stuff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about KORONA POS?

I like how straightforward the back office is when looking for data, and seeing so much important information at a one-shot glance on the dashboard is very nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Customer profiles are not that useful currently. I would like to see a payment integration on file when you use customer look-up; it would be nice to have the card on file ready to go in the payment screen instead of ALT-TAB from back office browser to the POS software typing the numbers into the keypad.
