Top Rated invoice ninja Alternatives

The layout of InvoiceNinja is basic, in a good way. It looks like a well oiled machine that has been around for a while, so it knows what to do and what not.
After the recent update, it became even a bit more polished. Things are easy to find, and the amount of features is plenty, even in the free version.
It also includes a lot of features in the free version that get you up and running your own small business in no time. Invoicing, sending quotes, and direct email to clients are all included and much needed for every business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At moments, the layout may look a bit clunky/outdated. But they fixed that in the new version.
Important to note is that you can also run InvoiceNinja on your server. It is a free-to-use/implement platform. This ties in a little bit with the design, but it is no deal-breaker in the end.
The amount of features and the usability in the software make up for this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I appreciate most about Invoice Ninja is its comprehensive web interface, which, despite feeling slightly outdated, offers a visually pleasing user experience. The platform has undergone significant improvements from v4 to v5, highlighting the developers' dedication to enhancing its capabilities. The array of features provided, especially considering the cost, presents exceptional value for freelancers or small businesses operating on a tight budget. The fact that Invoice Ninja offers such a robust set of tools at this price point is commendable and a strong reason to consider it for those who need a cost-effective invoicing solution. The migration from v4 to v5, although anticipated, was far from seamless, with a mere 13-day notice for the hard cutoff being particularly challenging. Despite the long development period, v5 was plagued with numerous bugs, UI, and UX issues, making our transition frustrating. Repeated requests to continue using v4 alongside v5 for a smoother transition were denied, leading to several days of downtime and inability to use the service effectively.
Customer support experiences have been mixed; while responses are typically received, the quality and relevance of the support have been lacking. The support team's tendency to provide brief, sometimes patronizing responses without fully addressing or remembering previous exchanges was disheartening. This approach made us feel undervalued and frustrated, as it seemed our concerns were not being taken seriously.
To seek effective resolutions, we found ourselves compelled to join external platforms such as GitHub and Slack to directly communicate with the programmers. This step, while it did offer a pathway to support, underscores a gap in the traditional customer service model that could alienate users not familiar with these platforms.
Moreover, the disparity between the web and desktop applications in terms of UI/UX presents an inconsistent user experience. A notable example is the differing color codes for paid expenses, which introduces unnecessary confusion.
In essence, while Invoice Ninja stands out for its affordability and feature-rich platform, ideal for freelancers and small businesses, the experience is marred by technical glitches, support challenges, and an outdated aesthetic. Prospective users should be prepared for the possibility of engaging with external developer platforms like GitHub and Slack to troubleshoot issues, alongside navigating the product's learning curve and support limitations. The most helpful upsides of using an invoice ninja are its time-saving capabilities and greater accuracy in billing. With such an app, business owners can quickly generate invoices for clients and customers in a fraction of the time it would take to do so with paper invoices. Furthermore, the app’s automated features reduce the risk of human error when calculating billing amounts. It also makes it easier to keep track of payments and ensure that customers are billed correctly and promptly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using an invoice ninja can be a great way to keep track of your finances and make sure that you are getting paid for the work you do. However, there are some downsides that come with using an invoice ninja. One of the least helpful ones is that it can be easy to get overwhelmed with all the features the app has to offer. It can be difficult to navigate all the options and find the ones that are the most useful for you Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Reasonable price. They answer questions reasonably quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Silly little things make the program difficult to use. Like when a firm has multiple contacts, you have to uncheck ALL the people you DON'T want getting the invoice. You can't just pick the one you want. They say they can't change that. And that just seems stupid to me. Very frustrating. What if a company I am billing has 100 contacts? I really have to uncheck 99 to make my contact selection!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's open-source, free, customizable PDF, and a customer portal. You can pay only $30/year if you don't want their logo on invoices (which is very accessible). The team behind the project is commited and very helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The new version 5 is unstable and sometimes breaks with upgrades. You can't have more than 1 price per item, and the taxes can't be "per line". There's no line for shipping charges, and the vendors/expenses side is not very developed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There's not much to dislike honestly. I do wish the software had a ticket management/helpdesk system integrated. I also feel the software moving to a cloud hosted paid solution, which is discouraging. There's limited documentation on developing 3rd party modules yourself as well. So much to say.... Very complete solution, Intuitive and easy to use, Online signing & payment for customers, AMAZING support, Affordable, I'm pretty much sure we've never encountered any software issue... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
