The best part is that by using Quickbooks Payroll I have confidence that the payroll calculations are correct. I do not need to be an expert on how to figure payroll taxes as the software does it for me. Quickbooks Payroll prompts me when it is time for a software update, which has been quite often this past year due to all fo the changes to payroll taxes associated with the CARES Act. I'm not too fond of that I am not reminded by email that it is time to run payroll, file reports, and pay my payroll liabilities. If I don't log in to Quickbooks and go to the payroll section regularly, I might miss a due date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is straightforward to use and does all the calculating itself. As long as you know the basic numbers all you have to do is input Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Calculating can be a bit slow at times and has a tendency to give unnecessary error message Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Quickbooks Payroll is extremely easy to use and integrates flawlessly into the general ledger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is definitely best for smaller companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Payroll is super easy. We can set up auto-pay for salaried employees. Our federal and state taxes are calculated automatically, and paperwork filed when needed. We give our employees their log-in info so that they can access their paystubs at will. If I need to edit a pay rate, I can do so in the middle of running payroll without losing my place. Adding a garnishment is extremely simple and it gives you multiple options. It's also very easy to run reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's nothing that I dislike about it. I do wish that it would send me email reminders to run payroll. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The program is a bit expensive, but it saves the salary of a payroll accounting employee Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The direct deposit feature in QB is the bomb, so fast and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The speed of the overall software is not the best, but it gets the job done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Quickbooks is mainly used for accounting purposes and bookkeeping in our company, but we have used it as a payroll provider for our executive team and we have found that what we liked was:
- It is automatic. Meaning you can set it up and let it run by itself. No need to constantly check in or make sure everything is good. Set it and forget it. This applies to salaried employees. For hourly employees, I would be checking their time sheets.
- It integrates with a lot of applications such as T-sheets which is a great option for hourly employees.
- It integrates seamlessly with your accounting (of course), which makes it very easy for you and your accountant to go over come tax season. (Your accountant can get special access to your QB which makes life easier for the both of you).
- Quickbooks produces reports that you can download and use for accounting, loan, or projections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Quickbooks is great as an accounting tool and I like that you can connect your payroll directly to your accounting, but Quickbooks had a lot of negative sides to it as a Payroll provider.
- It was not easily understandable how to use the program and thus we spent a lot of wasted time trying to figure out how to understand it and how we could use it.
- Additionally, it was not easy to understand their reports. They seem to be geared too much towards people with actual Accounting experience.
- For running such a small payroll as we were, the pricing was high. I am sure that if we ran the payroll we do for the entire company and not just a small portion of it (the rest we use Square for), it would be cheaper, but something to consider!
- Unlike Square, Quickbooks doesn't file all forms for you. Some, they do, but mostly you are on your own with remembering and filing the right forms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like how easy it is to keep up with invoices, what's been paid and what hasn't. I love how you just put the hours in payroll and if you have your employees set up with their hourly rate, it takes care of everything for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really can't think of anything I don't like about QuickBooks right now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the fact that I don't have to import and re-enter payroll information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Running final checks can be a little bit of a challenge sometimes. The system overwrites when you are trying to pay out final hours worked and accrued vacation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ERP system and financial reporting are exactly what I need for reporting to my board of directors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Their payroll is difficult to use at scale and when I got past ten FTE and ten 1099. It made it too hard for me to manage anniversaries and other important milestones and did not really offer the types and permission levels associated with employees to the level I required which necessitated my move to a pEO Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
