There still is nothing like Domino. Imagine a single platform that does unlimited on-prem or cloud corporate email, has rapid-develop applications that you can custom build and hosted on the same server, incorporates all of the latest technologies. In a world that only uses binary terminology, Microsoft and Google, Domino is a platform that ticks all the same boxes from Microsoft and Google, but without being the phishing and hacking target that they have become. HCL has done a much better job in developing new technology, but could be a little more innovative. While all enterprise features are here that you could want, some minor calendaring (iCal) and mail features are slightly limited, but not enough to impact productivity. A few features would be nice to compete with Outlook. (Multiple accounts per user in client, (not just delegated) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Domino / Notes has been a stable of our companies systems for years. Its bredth of capability is unmatched within a single platform. We have found that doing things in the Domino platform much easier then other platforms.
The simplicity of building quality applications in little time has made this a great platform. The new Nomad interface has made the system much easier to use and configure for our users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unfortunately for the platform, its previous owner sat on the technology for two long with its current stack. HCL has made great improvements since taking over but the 'low-code' market is now very competitive.
It is a real shame as its previous inability to use modern technologies make it poor to integrate with and kept it isolated from our other enterprise applications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Users may not all be used to HCL Domino, but as an admin it is made very easy to administer the whole system and help users (e.g. if they are more familiar with Outlook).
Updates are easy to install and are usually free of major bugs. This is my experience after almost 20 years with Domino.
Customer support is always helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes there are problems with compatibility with other systems.
Users complain about the user interface and sometimes about options that are too hidden. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is very easy to use HCL domino for the new users or the new commers in the developoment. Implemetation of the things is easy. Customer support helps in the cases where we are unable to find solution. There are many more number of features we can use for the development of worflow and process it. Integration is easy for common and reusable components. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HCL domino can improve quality of search and they can make search faster throughout. Some of the security features we can upgrade. Cost is high, so only big players can use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flexibility, Programmability in various languages. Thereby possibility to integrate with almost every othe application server.
Extremely good downward compatibility. We still run applications that have been developed back in 1998 without any problems. Installation and backup is very easy. Administration is simple and transparent.
Domino replication is still unmatched as is security configuration for Domino applications.
Since we are power users of Domino we make extensive use of the seamless integration of mail and document management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have some serious issues with TLS encryption.
The Notes client has become increasingly crash-prone in the last year or so. We believe that quality assurance has been somewhat neglected, since in the past the client was very stable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HCL / IBM Domino is realiable and stable system. Never had any problems with databases or data coruption, databases without official support can last for decades. Vendors and dedicted software developers are very skilled and proffesional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The mailing part of the server bearly is up to date. Mail exhange standards supports are implemented with big wait time. We must implement workarounds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is extremely configurable. If you have the right coding skills the system can do a lot. You can create bespoke applications and databases to meet many peoples requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It requires developers to do almost anything. The system is painfully dated looking and doesn't easily integrate well. Without the required developer coding skills it's expensive to maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best thing about HCL Domino is the low-code development environment which allows any newbie to start developing applications.
Also, with the no-code solution, the Domino Leap, enterprise apps can be built without coding knowledge. Small businesses can develop and deploy their applications very fast for market testing.
The apps are faster to access on a browser through the Nomad web. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some features of HCL Domino rely on Notes Client which is a limitation for migration of software.
There is limited third-party service integration which restricts someone to migrate to HCL Domino.
The support community is small which prolongs issue resolution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Domino is and has always been the fastest rapid development platform enabling IT teams to respond to application/process requirements within hours or days compared to other tech platforms that would require weeks or months til delivery.
Another important plus for Domino is it’s scalability when it comes to running multiple functions such as email, apps and chat and more on a single server where other vendors would need several servers thus the cost of operations of Domino is outstandingly attractive. It’s difficult to name real downsides running the Domino platform. It‘s an application and collaboration and messaging platform and the appearance/UI of apps strongly depends on the developers. Just writing that since the „old school“ UI has in some cases been a point of criticism. But honestly, it’s not the platform, it’s the capability and feeling for good design of the respective development team that makes apps work well and look modern. The Notes applications are very helpful and very easy to develop.
Also, very secure documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some limitations to Notes development.
1. Unable to hide table column – only row is hid able.
2.Unable to categorize multiple fields within the same form as a separate sub category.
3.Unable to ‘Auto Suggest’ lists from views in Dialog list. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
