Through the setup of fundraising events, establishing event sponsors, and rolling our larger fundraising campaigns, Amy from Give Lively has provided not only technical support for the setup and implementation of the platform but strategic direction on how to engage with our community. Working with Amy weekly/bi-weekly has been so helpful to teach me how to strengthen our organization's messaging but also secure aligned partnerships. She also holds me accountable, following up on action items to move our work forward. She is consistently showing me how to add different features and link them to one campaign so we can track funding received towards our goals. We use the platform on a daily basis to ensure we are on track towards meeting our fundraising goals. Amy has also showed me to set up integrations with our website as we are revamping it. It's so smooth and easy to do! I didn't know what I didn't know. The presenation was so informative! It provided several compelling and creative ideas on how to reach our clients and how to inspire them to donate. We could not have had the impact we have had thus far without this knowledge that they shared. Amy Truong also invited me to share my information with her so that she could review it to make sure we were on the right track with our preparation. If that wasn't enough, Amy also emailed me once we launched our campaign to check in and see how the fundraising was going. Very easy to get answers to our questions. **What do you dislike about Give Lively?** One challenge we had with the peer fundraising was that many of the individuals who had fundraiser pages were frustrated that they could only see the total amount their page raised. These platforms charge roughly $150-400 a month for every additional feature we add. It creates good looking page designs, it integrates well with Salesforce, but the steps for payment are not ideal, and not optimized. It pushes donors to pay via apple pay or gpay or bank transfer. It hides the link to pay with CC which is what MOST people want. This is a very odd feature. There are other basic level things missing from this platform that make it less than ideal. 1. the org is not copied on donor receipts, 2. monthly donors do not receive monthly receipts. 3. you cannot edit the language about covering fees (and it is less than ideal). For a small org, these are issues you might be willing to overlook. But recently, Givelively announced that their 'free service' will include a mandatory question near the end of the payment process to ask donors to make a 'contribution' (non tax-deductible) directly to Give-Lively. This has left me completely convinced that they don't have any nonprofit experience on their board (who on earth could have thought this was a reasonable idea???), and very little on their staff. I will be looking for a new option before this gets rolled out to my org. **What do you dislike about Give Lively?** Little ability to review reports without downloading. Poor language used in the 'cover the fee' message, no ability to copy org on donor receipts, receipts are not standard for monthly donors, monthly donors cannot update their cc info without cancelling subscription. After your first donation is made to a campaign you can no longer edit some of the information. **they are rolling out a new mandatory feature that will ask YOUR donors to pay money directly to GiveLively, this will be a mandatory part of your payment process. Worst Idea I've Ever Heard Of **What problems is Give Lively solving and how is that benefiting you?** Givelively provides a low-cost donation portal to create attractive pages for ticket sales, donations, crowdfunding. It easily integrates with Salesforce which I why my org adopted it recently. But the detractors of this product have become too high and we are searching for an alternative solution at this time. **Official Response from Clair Lofthouse:** > Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re very pleased to hear about your successes using Give Lively for ticket sales, crowdfunding and our Salesforce integration, but concerned and sorry to learn about the disappointments. We also appreciate your meaningful feature requests. Since our founding, our product development roadmap has been guided by direct collaboration with nonprofits and we have always made a point of gathering and taking into account nonprofit feedback. We have been reflecting on yours and hope to continue this conversation with you on our publicly accessible platform for this at https://feedback.givelively.org. To answer some of your concerns, we’re excited to share the recent rollout of our second-generation payment form, in development since 2021, which solves for many of your requests. For example: - Apple Pay and Google Pay are no longer emphasized on the first screen, and they still only appear for donors who have these payment methods enabled on their own devices. - The credit card payment option is now listed prominently on the payment method screen. - We have updated the language about covering transaction fees, although legal constraints limit our ability to make it customizable. This new payment form has also allowed us to tackle other major improvements: - We just released the beta version of an updated data reporting system. It is now with a group of member nonprofits that volunteered to trial the upgraded data downloads (restructured CSVs with lots of new data) and on-screen data access (so that downloads are no longer required). - Receipts for recurring donations are already available as a beta feature that can be requested at any time. - We’re currently designing a way for donors to update and manage their subscriptions in their User Portal. We also greatly appreciated our earlier phone call and fully hear your frustration regarding voluntary contributions to Give Lively. In keeping with common practice on many other fundraising platforms, donors can indeed make a voluntary contribution (non tax-deductible) to Give Lively and join forces with our founder-funders in supporting the nonprofit community. We call this donor-powered generosity “pay free forward” because donor contributions extend the reach of our free products and services, thus helping nonprofits direct millions of dollars to their critical work, not digital fundraising software. First off - it is free! It drives me nuts how expensive so many of the equivalent services are. Even though it's free, it still performs as good or better than any other service I have used. GiveLively charges nothing so its only the fees from Stripe. The interface on the backend as well as user facing is really clean and easy to navigate. The widgets look really nice on a website. And they have Apple Pay which makes it easy to donate. They have text to give that works great, peer to peer fundraising, honestly everything. On top of it - and this is mind boggling since you aren't paying them- the customer service is amazing! I have gotten great help from everyone I have spoken with, they have a place where you can post changes you want to the platform and people can vote/comment on them so GiveLively can prioritize their ongoing improvement efforts based on user needs. They provide updates on what they are working on and really work to address any feedback. It's honestly the best - I have transitioned multiple nonprofits to using it and tell everyone they should switch to it. **What do you dislike about Give Lively?** Honestly nothing - it has been perfect for everything I have needed it for (using it for multiple nonprofits with various needs). I love it and the people who work there. Without the free, and powerful online donation and event tools Give Lively offers, and the thoughtful and individualized support, our volunteer leaders would simply not offer the option to donate online. While Stripe customer support has improved in recent months, it is obvious that Give Lively is designed to work with nonprofits, thank you, Give Lively! **Recommendations to others considering Give Lively:** You will be so glad to have a Give Lively account which provides an organizational presence, ease in online donating, and extra features other tools don't have, for free! **What problems is Give Lively solving and how is that benefiting you?** We expect our community volunteers to not only expand their online donations and begin using the event management tools but to use Give Lively tools to work in new ways to expand their networks of givers using peer-to-peer and social media features. ### 24. The customer support from giving Lively is wonderful, and they really care about the nonprofits they serve and always add new features to help us grow! Thank you Give Lively for all that you do! Love their product, and I will never leave them! **What do you dislike about Give Lively?** I really don't, but if I had to pick something, I'm hoping for a recurring feature on the events tools to be added. We use events for more than major galas, we use them for everyday meetups, peer groups, and training webinars. **What problems is Give Lively solving and how is that benefiting you?** We thought of using their Events tool which was more about galas in person, than everyday events for our community.
