I have been using Ghost Inspector on the job for about 3 years now, and I can't imagine going back to Selenium. The amount of time Ghost Inspector SAVES you when you are recording and writing your tests is amazing. Need a test to check your contact us page? 15 minutes, how about a test to book a hotel room, and check that you received the email to a certain email address? 30 minutes tops. Need to repair your scripts after some selectors have changed? It is pretty much effortless!

This tool will save you time.

I've had a lot of trouble getting the drag and drop functionality to work.

There is no built in function to provide you with an external number to help you the run you need when looking through online logs - PHPSESSION ID (they do however give you the ability to write one yourself) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The support team is really good and worked with us to restore some QA test suites that were deleted and needed to be recovered.

The tool can be used by anyone, from non-technical employees to experienced developers. Because Javascript is allowed in the tests, it allows for incredibly powerful tests to be written.

The Ghost Inspector team is great, too. We've always received prompt responses to support tickets and they've even implemented a number of our change requests, each time very shortly after we requested it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lack of browser options make it a bit unsuited to Crossbrowser testing, unfortunately. Currently only Chrome and Firefox are supported. The screenshot compare feature is unfortunately not that useful, as it will fail a test when the content on a site moves even just a few pixels up or down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love using Ghost Inspector! I have created hundreds of tests that we use for regression testing and monitoring our app with this easy to use software. The customer service is fantastic! - The browser extension allows you to record browser sessions and play them back to act as an automated check

- You have the ability to use vanilla JavaScript in your tests to further enhance them

- It has a dark theme! :P

- Test runs are recorded as videos which allow you to watch the test playback

- Screenshot is taken at the end of a test run which compares it with your "baseline" image, this alerts you for any potential visual regression.

- I find the majority of the issues I have with GI are down to the user experience.

- I personally find their API a little bit limiting. I'd prefer it if all the actions that could be performed on the frontend were available through the API (Changing test concurrency etc.)

- It's a challenge to keep your tests DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself), so you'll rely on a lot of "import" test steps in GI to sort of replicate the Page Object Model. When viewing your tests, there's no obvious separation between the imported and the actual steps in your tests which is always a point of confusion with other tests in our team.

- The tool currently only supports Chrome and FireFox, which isn't a HUGE dealbreaker for us personally as the vast majority of our traffic is Chrome but having Safari support would be nice.

That I was able to teach a Customer Service agent how to use it so that they can add to our testing suite. This way as bugs are reported we can add new tests to prevent the issue from happening in the the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
