It's ok, I'm forced into it. I feel productive. I'll say it does the job well, accomplishes what we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The worst thing I'm battling with right now, which I added a post in the community for.
assert myVar == true, if that assertion fails, the test should fail, always.
I seems like it works when my test doesn't have a @TearDown, sometimes. That worries me.
I'm struggling with default values of variables. I don't think neither everything should be a GlobalVariable, nor I should have to define the each argument as a variable. Maybe it's just me but I find myself doing a lot of copy-pasting. In terms of a "scope variables", JMeter got that right. I have N tests in a folder, I can define variables for these tests once. The ease of starting automation with Katalon is amazing: during an internal course we were able to quickly make it work and have 10 users internally split worldwide script their first Web UI automated scenario with no technical issue or limitation like third party software install / library install / machine configuration...
The fact that a Docker image is provided for remote run with ease and all the capabilities which come with katalon Platform are great comapred to other tools: TestOps website to upload / centralize all tests results with screenshots and video records, visual testing simplified, etc...
Also Katalon does not stand idle and keeps innovating, bringing new features or product, and has both a very active and professional support in addition of a supportive forum community.
Last but not least Katalon still provides a free unlimited version of their studio, with less feature than paying version of course, but it's a clear advantage comapred to competition where often only full version 30 days trial are proposed which can be complicated for demo / training / PoC etc... Perfect for Web UI clearly, whereas not so great for Desktop App test automation...
I guess all this hard work to make Katalon such a great tool comes with a price, explaining why license prices increased significantly over the years and are now close to competition. Yet it is somthing to keep in mind that Katalon is not as affordable as it used to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Really easy and user friendly to use. Can quickly write the script for the component in minutes using both manual and script mode. Excelllent Error Log reporting through which you can isolate the issue Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The screen has too many options and difficult to see it all without scrolling. Had to attach an external monitor to see the entire screen Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like most about Katalon Studio is that it is a very complete and versatile tool. It allows you to carry out various types of testing, it allows you to upload the results of the execution of a Test Suite to the cloud, specifically on the Katalon TestOps platform, where you can easily see how the execution of each Test Case turned out. It even has CI/CD! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I dislike about Katalon is that I cannot run the Test Suites in CLI format if because I use the free version without a KRE license, therefore I cannot perform Continuous Integration, which is one of the most frequently performed activities today for agile and large-scale projects. If it had this, it would be the ideal tool without a doubt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Katalon is beginner friendly for desktop testing but has a complex setup for mobile Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The setup process is a bit lengthy and it was complex at times (particularly the mobile testing part).
To sum it up:
-You need to download large software packages like Android Studio (multiple GBs) and XCode for iOS (which alone takes around 12GB just for the simulator pack)
- The platform requires at least version 18 of Node to be compatible, and Katalon doesn’t manage/notify about this automatically. Without the correct version, even after installing everything, I ran into issues where tests simply don’t run.
- One of Katalon's biggest limitations is the lack of native real device testing support. It doesn’t offer real-device testing on its own unless you integrate it with a third-party service, and the only direct integration available is with BrowserStack Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Katalon has great built-in reporting and integration. I like its capability to generate detailed test reports with screenshots, logs, and execution history. Its also a great tool to integrate with Jira and Jenkins which makes it a great tool to work with in Agile team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Katalon is a bit slow when executing large Test Cases and the memory consuption is pretty high which leads to crashes or lag in long test runs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

low-coded testing and record web elements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some features like export report directly used for enterprise , so as a new user we need go to the folder which has the report Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like katalon's user interface as It is easy to use, user friendly and can be implemented easliy. I also like its extensive automation testing capabilities and can be easily integrated with various tools and frameworks. The manual mode feature is quite attractive as any person with less programing knowledge can also write script with this feature. Other thing which i most like is the Customer support is also easily accessible when we are facing any issues with the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The issues that i noticed with katalon is that it hangs when running complex automation scenarios or executing multiple test suites.Application gets freeze for some time when switching from one test case tab to another . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I enjoy using the Katalon tool as it helped with our automation framework and integrates with our current tools, for example, BitBucket. I hope to integrate with our future CICD deployment flow. Our regression test suites in Katalon keep growing as we add more features to them within our website products. I would appreciate it if it could be used from the Katalon TestCloud, which is all online and maintains everything on their server. The recording tool within is a plus, along with all the other features Katalon offers to the entire Enterprise. The Katalon Studio creates recording auto scripts, and TestOps offers to do the CICD and see Reporting. The test execution runtime engine is fun to watch, and Katalon enjoys doing the automation work. Able to test the following mobile, desktop, and API applications with reasonable solutions. There are plenty of features and many to go through as I am still learning to use them. Katalon also offers resources for their Academy to learn and has webinars and support tickets to ask questions. Overall, Katalon is incredible, and I would recommend trying out its tools and solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some challenging features to try and make work. It would be nice to have more trouble shooting or learning videos of how to's and maybe there are I just havent explored to see it. At times if I dont find on Katalon Academy or the Community. Have to refer to Chat GPT, You Tube.
Just a thought - It would be nice to conference or huddle with someone on the spot to work out issues when submit a ticket for support. Easier to demo and show and get to the answer instead of wasting tons of time researching and churn back and forth. A live technical consultant or customer support that knows what they are doing. Katalon has very small learning curv which allows manual tester to do the automation testing. Being a manger it is always difficult to manage Automation and Manula tester separatly, Katalon allows tester to become crossfunctional and work as functional and automation tester simultaniously. Katalon supports UI, API, and Mobile testing under same roof which reducese the hassle of handling differnt tools for differnt testing time. CI/CD Is another fearute(paid version) which helps to integrate your test is various cloud hosting providers in the market
Also, it has very good community support for free version and Customer support for paid vesrion Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Downside of Katalon is, you have to pay for license if you need to do CI/CD integration, Visual testing, Unlimited Analytical results on TestOps (plugin to show execution result) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
