Using Mobilize lets us have a closed group of around 120 so that anyone in the group can get in touch with others and broadcast announcements or needs at any time without waiting for one of the leaders to generate an email to everyone. At one point, a subgroup went on a trip, and Mobilize was an excellent way for everyone in that group to constantly communicate as trip departure came near without disturbing or distracting the main group. It is great to use on computer or smart phone. Overall it’s been a great choice for us in keeping up with our group members and for them to be able to find and contact each other. One con for us is that administrators are not able to go in and add a photo for someone. We’ve also noticed sometimes it’s hard to follow a message thread or to make sure you are replying in the correct portion. Another con for our specific group is that people seem afraid to jump in and use it for announcements but want the leaders to still make announcements for them. Mobilize has been a blessing for us connecting small communities with the supports and resources they need during the Australian bushfire recovery and COVID19. We love how accessible it is, that we can post private messages and allow people to organise themselves into networks, and self-manage their connections and activities. Not having access to the sms feature without a higher subscription. The bushfires meant that internet access was interrupted so emergency sms feature would have been helpful. We had to use a different system for that .
