If you know how to use a spreadsheet, you can use Equals. The dashboard feature and ability to connect across all the key datasources we use is amazing. We have it connected to Stripe, Postgres, and several others. Makes it super easy for the team to track key metrics.

We looked at other sytems (e.g. we used Looker at a previous company) but they were SO much more expensive and required engineers to setup everything.. which was a major overhead for an early stage startup like us.

There aren't many things we don't like. Maybe a Zapier integration would be nice so we coudl push data into a workbook based on other workflows. Equals is amazingly fast and combines the best of SQL with the best of spreadsheets. Extremely convenient not to have to export data from one tool, import to another, and manage KPIs in separate places. Equals team was extremely helpful getting our instance set up and is super responsive when you need things. Effortless natual language prompting. With your AI assitant you can descibe exactly what you're looking to acomplish and your AI assistant will not only write the formulas for you, but will add it directly to your target cell. The assistant is paired perfectly wih an intuitive query builder so if you're terrified of SQL or simply don't want to think about SQL you can simply choose which table and which columns you want and save or share the query. Being able to have a spreadsheet functionality attached directly to databases that I can query with SQL is honestly a game changer. That alone saves me probably 10 hours of manual work per week that I would have previously spent querying a data warehouse, downloading the CSV, and then copying that CSV into a spreadsheet. Particularly helpful is the Hubspot integration, because the native reporting functionality in Hubspot is very very poor.

The visualization and dashboard features + the auto updates of underlying data is great too.

I love the dashboard feature and the ability to automate queries. It does the job of several tools, all in one place. I can import, analyze, visualize, and export the data from the same tool. Equals is an incredibly powerful tool packed into a familiar "spreadsheet" form function. It allows anyone with a basic knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets to combine and analyze data across multiple datasources without having to know anything about databases. Like any nascent Company / technology, there are growing pains. Some of the charting features could use improvement and the spreadsheet functionality overall can feel clunky in comparison to today's modern Excel interface. As a BI / data analyst, Equals is pretty much a dream come true! We love their intuitive interface which takes your regular spreadsheet to a whole other level due to its seamless integration with a DBMS and a data visualization tool. We tried a bunch of other solutions but our finance and operations team just didn't adopt them because the learning curve was too steep.

Equals lets your team operate in an environment which is intimately familiar -- spreadsheets.

We had a complex google sheets environment that served us for many years: we had our data warehouse dumping nightly into source sheets that other people could pull into their models. As disciplined as we were this ended up being a very fragile solution.

Equals being able to query the source directly from the data warehouse means less interdependence on sources. An unexpected advantage of this pattern was we could stress less about how we added data into the data warehouse because we could transform it on the way out so easily. That simplified our whole data stack (we moved everything to AirByte).

Data Limits - Equals has incresed their data limits over time, but there is a cap on the amount of data you can query (currently I believe it's 1 million rows).
