The off-line login is cumbersome. There is a feature to remember your credentials for off-line logging in but it does not work. This is problematic when there is not access to WiFi to validate license credentials. The focus of the product offerings are on with higher education customers where some of cost is differed to the student and they can take advantage of on-line features and app. The only way to take advantage of most features is to require attendees or participants to download an app which works for internal employees and students but not so much with corporate customers, adult education, conferences, and tradeshow applications. We use the response cards which limits the features and options available. Not a fan of using G2 to solicit feedback. There are other, less invasive feedback tools. Echo360 makes it extremely easy to create videos with and without the installable application. With the introduction of their Browser Based Capture, end users can easily use the same functionality of the downloaded application without needing to download anything. The best part of these recordings is that you have a super clear side by side recording. One full window of your screen share, and one full window of your camera capture. This is very useful for faculty and students who are sharing presentations. Echo360 also includes a very basic editor that is great for quick editing funcitons. There is not much I have found to dislike with Echo360. My main issue would most likely be the licensing structure. Four our industry, it goes by number of active users, which includes users who have only logged in one time the entire year. It is a cumulative number that grows the first time each user logs in. I'm using Echo 360in almost all training sessions. It allows me to keep the audience engaged, check their emotional response, verify the acquisition of knowledge and stimulate their problem-solving skills. It is easy to use (especially with the AI question-generator), completely and smoothly inegrated into the presentation, very intuitive to use and apply. Ask the audience to scan a QR code on the screen or monitor and your'e in business, live or online. Other features allow me to create groups for competitions, contests, etc. Reporting is simple, detailed and easy to analyze. Pefect for synchronous and asynchronous training. I like that it is integrated into PowerPoint for seamless polling through a software application I'm using everyday anyway. Once students have done there part the usage is very stable. I also like that I can upload quizzes right after class in about 2 minutes. One unexpected advantage of daily quizzes has been the ability to see who is struggling and have a pattern of performance (attendance, scores, etc.) when engaging in correction or intervention. I use a few of the advanced features at times, but even just sticking with the basics has become a strength of the class. The energy rises when the bar graph shows 50/50 on a true/false. Sometimes I reveal a winner, sometimes I will quickly repoll and say "convince someone your right!" and more often than not the correct answer comes in at a higher percentage.
Customer support has generally been strong over my time using the program. New student videos for how to register have come in timely manner. In addition, I've literally sent problem session files and had experts help me out. I've used it for many years and have never felt like I've been left without a solution. I'm sure everyone has there wish list of additional features. My current top three are to be able to set a session value instead of just a question value so I could consistently say that each daily quiz is 15 points. Currently it depends on how many questions I ask or I need to manually adjust each question. Secondly, I wish it could scatterplot but that may be a PowerPoint limitation. Finally, I wish it would tell me who is answering in the room vs. remote. I do want sick students to stay home, but I'd like to be able to see any patters of concern. I use PointSolutions for most all my class sessions. The ability to gather student feedback in real time is crucial to ensuring student understanding while fostering active engagement. I love how it integrates with Canvas allowing for quick grading. I like that the desktop applications get an upgrade on a regular basis but this does mean that I need to coordinate the update with our tech team for our classroom tech carts. This can occasionally cause an issue if I don't plan ahead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Echo360 is our chosen solution for lecture capture at our institution. It offers active learning features and analytics that the faculty find extremely helpful for delivery of asynchronous content, and synchronous classes equally use it for polling and review options. From an institutional perspective, Echo offers us an affordable cloud-based solution for video storage, which would otherwise not be feasible in our LMS. Additionally, we have had an excellent experience with support needs, as their support team has consistently addressed needs quickly, including feature requests. While it is beneficial to have more than one integration option for Echo360, some of them can be technically clunky, requiring multiple clicks and back end work, particularly when trying to use video across multiple semesters and having to clone sections. Echo360 has gone through some hiccups with branding and roadmaps, making big (and ultimately positive) interface changes at inopportune times, or mentioning new features and tools to be launched with no real development timelines. This can make it a challenge to keep documentation up to date. Because Echo360 can do so many things, there are a lot of ways to accomplish the same task which can be confusing to convey to users. And the company has had several shifts in support/contact representatives in recent years which have caused minor issues with support times and getting timely information. Although I am sure most people will talk about Echos many features here or their ease of use, but the thing that I like the most about echo is their customer support.
