Descartes Shipper TMS is extremely reactive to any Help Desk tickets entered by our end users. Issues or tickets are always brought to quick resolution. They are always willing to help onboard new carriers, helping them get acclimated with Best Shippers, including offering training. The ease of use is really appealing to our end users and carriers, as we have many users who use and rely on Best Shippers daily. We've had future roadmap meetings over the years, strategizing about future functionality that'll help make their product and our process better. They are a valued business partner. We have a custom process with Descartes Shipper TMS, which adds complexity with setting up new Shipper accounts. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear there's a setup document that outlines all of the different configurations, setups, tables, etc. that make creating a new Shipper account easy. We would like to see a repository of this information so that we have a checklist of steps that can be marked off when creating and testing new Shipper accounts. Most of the people involved in the early startup and integration are gone, so some of that knowledge has been lost. We've worked hard over the years to overcome this. There are so many features and functionalities within the system, you can incorporate much of your business. This proved to be quite the time and budget saver for our company.
There are a lot of features that can be customized to meet specific business needs, and limit changes needed to well established internal processes or practices.

Much of our data in the Descartes applications are managed by Descartes personnel. So when we need changes made, removals, additions, etc it takes a request to service desk. We are not able to make these changes quickly ourselves. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Would like a better option for tiers when tendering to carriers. Would like tiers to be the main group that get tendered within each tier then after that tier the next tier would get tendered to. In the past it did not quite work that way and still based it on rates. It would allow for us to manage carriers that dont quite perform the best but offer good pricing. The Descartes Shipper TMS has given us the flexibility and tools needed to effectively manage our incoming freight needs while controling the dollars spent to achieve this function. The data we are able to pull from the system and report to stakeholders is useful and helps gain insight into areas we can target for improved efficiencies. The community created by Descartes for users from other companies to share ideas and find new opportunities to use additional features available helps to continue to grow the benefits of the system. This community is one of the best features and provides continued growth to the system to continue using resources available to us. Customer Support is available when issues are discovered to help us work through the problem and solve as best we can. Our Customer Success Manager is available to address any ongoing challenges we face and provides us additional support and resources to ensure we are having the best experience possible with Descartes. Our company spends time testing version upgrades in pre-production to ensure improvements flow correctly with updates. Even with testing and review of release notes, issues seem to arise regularly when upgrades that are not detected during testing. At times, these issues are quickly resolved by Customer Support while other times the issue continues for an extened period of time. Additional time and company resources are needed from us to communicate the issues with our users and ensure inbound freight continues to flow with the least amount of interuptions. I like that we are easily able to identify the best rates for shipping based on quotes provided by our shipping partners. the platform is also pretty easy to use and can be picked up quickly by virtually any user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Rate files are not downloadable to a spreadsheet for analysis. Fuel Surcharge application when differnt shippers have different scales is not currently possible. There is currently no functionality for rail/intermdoal shipments to calcualte accurate mileage when transloads take place, everything is calculated base on OTR truck routings.
