Another thing is asking for specific changes to better fit my company on the platform. This proved to be quite the time and budget saver for our company. There are a lot of features that can be customized to meet specific business needs, and limit changes needed to well established internal processes or practices. We use the system daily. **What do you dislike about Descartes Shipper TMS?** Much of our data in the Descartes applications are managed by Descartes personnel. So when we need changes made, removals, additions, etc it takes a request to service desk. We are not able to make these changes quickly ourselves. **What problems is Descartes Shipper TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our business utilizes Descartes TMS to manage all FTL and LTL (both inbound and outbound) loads. Our coordinators are able to consolidate shipments into one load for efficiency and tender the loads to the carriers directly from the load in the system. We also use Descartes to manage all our carriers, rates, dedicated contracts, and quotes. We use the dock appointment scheduler for our carrier appointments. All of our carriers must have a Descartes assigned appt confirmation number to be allowed onto our lots. We utilize TMS for tracking of our shipments. We utilize the reporting functionality in TMS to create custom reports for analyses, carrier score cards, yard turn around time, etc. ### 9. Even with testing and review of release notes, issues seem to arise regularly when upgrades that are not detected during testing. At times, these issues are quickly resolved by Customer Support while other times the issue continues for an extened period of time. They are also personal and I feel I could build a relationship with them. That made me feel comfortable developing with them. Something like excel that we could input need information would be very helpful. Currently, you need to place your information in .txt files and they have to be within a specific spaced locations. It seems like it would require little development effort to produce a program that could intake excel files and place the necessary data into the excel and spit out a .txt file that is best compliant. Like the ability to add feature suggestions. It has been easy enough to train multiple people on the system quickly. Schedulign of shipments (LTL) is worth the cost by elimination of internal labor. Loved the additon of our suggestion to add a hazmat symbol to hazmat loads as a visual cue to carriers. **What do you dislike about Descartes Shipper TMS?** We use the TMS a little differently than others. It is not a smooth process to create dummy orders to pre-schedule trucks before the system orders come in. Bid process captures current market rates. We use very few contract rates for truckloads, but the process is easy to update rates. Issues or tickets are always brought to quick resolution. They are always willing to help onboard new carriers, helping them get acclimated with Best Shippers, including offering training. The ease of use is really appealing to our end users and carriers, as we have many users who use and rely on Best Shippers daily. We've had future roadmap meetings over the years, strategizing about future functionality that'll help make their product and our process better. They are a valued business partner. **What do you dislike about Descartes Shipper TMS?** We have a custom process with Descartes Shipper TMS, which adds complexity with setting up new Shipper accounts. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear there's a setup document that outlines all of the different configurations, setups, tables, etc. that make creating a new Shipper account easy. We would like to see a repository of this information so that we have a checklist of steps that can be marked off when creating and testing new Shipper accounts. Most of the people involved in the early startup and integration are gone, so some of that knowledge has been lost. We've worked hard over the years to overcome this. **What problems is Descartes Shipper TMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are our TMS for all of our manufacturing plants and is used by our plants and centralized transporation team. I can quote and tender LTL shipments out to carriers in the same place I can spot quote full truckload shipments.
