"Versatile Orchestration Tool"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I find Control-M to be a versatile and highly flexible product. It allows for groups of jobs to be configured to match business rules and requirements for diverse teams without forcing all teams to operate in the same way. I also appreciate the job flow self-documentation by the flow design, which makes it easy to reference and explain upstream and downstream processing steps, especially to less technical parties. The enterprise single-pane-of-glass visibility and dependency relationship flow are incredibly useful, and documentation linkage within the job to further details with just a click simplifies the process. Recommendation “7” due to the compexity of the product, and it being a heavyweight product. This is not a bad thing, however it is not for everyone in my opinion. Look for the time and resource required for a 1+ year integration effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

The product has been around a while and it should be flawless, but that's not the case. It's well known for its quirks and inconsistencies, and there are items that work differently between patch releases. It feels like QA is too light prior to launch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized Automation with Room for UI Improvement"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I love how Control-M centralizes and automates complex batch processes, significantly reducing manual effort and minimizing the risk of human error. The centralized dashboard is particularly impressive as it allows me to see every job, dependency, and workflow in real-time. This feature lets me immediately view job statuses, dependencies, and potential bottlenecks without the need to dig through multiple screens, making it extremely efficient and user-friendly. Additionally, the tool integrates seamlessly with monitoring tools like Splunk and CloudWatch for tracking logs and alerts, and with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira for incident management and workflow tracking, ensuring a smooth operational workflow. The initial setup was straightforward, and the visual tools made defining workflows easier once the core setup was established. The comprehensive documentation is also a big help for getting started, although there is a learning curve. Overall, based on my experience, I confidently give Control-M a recommendation score of 10 out of 10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

Some areas of the Control-M interface still feel outdated and could benefit from a more modern, streamlined design. The visual layout can become crowded, especially when navigating large workflow maps. This makes improved zooming, grouping, or filtering options a desirable enhancement. Additionally, while the installation process was straightforward, configuring the environment, agents, security settings, and integrations required planning and technical knowledge. The documentation was helpful, but there remains a learning curve for new users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Job Management with Control-M"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I like how Control-M is a key orchestrator that handles the complex job dependencies, with quite a lot of options and endless combinations. It's amazing how it integrates with any application in the market today. I also find that using the SaaS version of Control-M is pretty straightforward, and the migration was quite easy compared to my previous experience with an on-prem solution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

The application integrated part can depend on the use cases and may create some issues. Setting up the control and sub support takes a good amount of time before it's properly end to end. On the SaaS version side, there are a lot of voices against the pricing model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlines Automation, Needs UI Modernization"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I really appreciate the user interface of Control-M, as it is both simple and effective. It features a design that is basic and decluttered, yet it resembles a control room dashboard, offering both simplicity and depth. This combination is refreshing and provides a lot of functional detail while remaining highly customizable. Control-M maintains a user-friendly approach that keeps things straightforward without sacrificing complexity for those who need to dive deeper. Additionally, the ability to visually arrange workflows through drag-and-drop is incredibly useful, allowing for easy adjustments and amendments as needed. The inclusion of analytics graphics, like pie charts, is also a significant advantage, making it easy to comprehend data at a glance. This is particularly beneficial for management, providing well-presented, good data that can be extracted seamlessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

I find the visual design of Control-M to be very dated due to the inability to change the color scheme easily. The current colors appear somewhat childish and reminiscent of an old-fashioned PowerPoint presentation. It would be beneficial if the software allowed for customization in alignment with our core branding to avoid having to modify the graphics through another tool post-generation. "Reliable and Efficient Workflow Management with Control-M"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I really appreciate how Control-M simplifies the management of complex workflows. The centralized dashboards are extremely valuable to me, enabling a comprehensive view of all my jobs, dependencies, and SLAs in one location. This centralization significantly improves my efficiency by providing quick access to critical information. I also love how swiftly I can troubleshoot failures thanks to the clear logs and alerts, which save me a lot of time. Overall, Control-M makes my batch processes more reliable, automated, and predictable. These features collectively streamline my operations and ensure that our workflows are both reliable and highly efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

I feel that the user interface of Control-M is a bit heavy and not very intuitive, especially for new users. This complexity sometimes leads to creating complex workflows requiring more clicks than anticipated. Additionally, the logs provided can be overly detailed, which makes identifying the exact error line time-consuming. While the platform is reliable once familiar, these initial challenges can be a hurdle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Workflow Management, But Pricey"
What do you like best about Control-M?

I appreciate Control-M for its ability to automate and manage various workflows, which significantly reduces the need for manual monitoring. It efficiently schedules jobs and tracks dependencies, ensuring that processes run smoothly, even when multiple systems are involved. One of the standout features for me is how it consolidates all workflows into a single platform, providing clear visibility over every job, its status, and its dependencies. This integration minimizes the need to switch between different tools, drastically reducing manual work and simplifying the management of complex processes. Overall, Control-M saves time, reduces errors, and enhances operational organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

I find Control-M to be somewhat complex initially, which slows down development. Its performance tends to be sluggish, particularly when managing multiple workflows. The pricing is quite complex and the licensing fees are very high, which makes the cost aspect challenging. Additionally, the user interface could use some improvement, and I feel that cloud integration needs to be enhanced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Workflow Automation and Seamless CI/CD Integration"
What do you like best about Control-M?

Control-M lets us design workflows as code and keep everything in Git. It fits well with CI/CD, so job changes can be tested and deployed just like application updates. This makes our automations more consistent and easier to maintain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Control-M?

Some advanced options take a while to learn, and creating new integrations often requires coordination with other teams. When multiple groups add jobs without a structure, the workspace can feel cluttered and harder to search through. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
