Our company started using Salesforce in 2012 and had stayed in Classic for over a decade. It took us several years to get our employees on board to use Salesforce Classic so while we knew we needed to upgrade to Lightning, we were hesitant to do so. But many of the features we want to use are only available in Lightning and we finally decided to rip the bandaid off. When starting my position at Greater Louisville Inc., the systems they were using in our Salesforce account and the way it was set up were not at all aligned with how an Economic Developement agency works. Therefore, there were no efficiencies, it was not self-explanatory in any way, and everyone previous to our current team used it differently so the way data was input into the system varied by user. Start with a discovery process as an initial/independent project (like UCP did). Once you have that process complete, then decide what your organization can support from a resource and financial standpoint.
