What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

Cartegraph is an intuitive, streamlined program, that offers a quick turnaround on efficiency while requiring relatively minimal experience from a new user. Managing assets, tasks, labor, etc. becomes second nature quickly, as the user interface for each aspect of the program is consistent. It makes it easy to review data against GIS records, and helps field crews ease into increasingly more detailed data collection and recording with increased use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

While Cartegraph enables an organization to begin managing assets across multiple departments and boosting interdepartmental buy-in in a short time, many of the more granular reporting mechanisms which can be extremely useful may be more difficult for new administrators or require more time to master. It's a minor problem, as CG Support has yet to be unable to directly help me custom tailor a report to exacting requirements if I have been unable to do so myself when a standardized report is not sufficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

As part of a City government charged not only with tracking infrastructure and assets, but also with being accountable for the use, maintenance, and efficiency of said assets, GIS offers the ability to detail every feature precisely. While this works well for my office, in a supportive role towards our actual Public Works departments, Cartegraph enables Superintendents and Department Heads to manage their areas of concern, delegate to the team leads, and reasonably expect timely data input from staff that improves the fidelity and usefulness of the GIS data, while reducing the strain of direct GIS proficiency solely to the GIS department. Useful information regarding assets, labor, materials, etc. is available easily to the Public Works staff, without the need for heavy technical experience, and the integration allows the near-real-time updating of GIS data for review and dissemination by my office, without personally field checking every asset, because the subject matter experts are using Cartegraph to make sure accurate data is being reflected. What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

It is a great idea for how to manage work and infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

We are currently two years into the "Professional Services" implementation, and not only do we have nothign to show for it, but OpenGov is putting the blame on our already-strained public works crew. We were sold a solution to a problem, but now we just have more problems and we're out almost $130k in taxpayer funds.

- Our account manager was unhelpful and coulnd't seem to find anyone who knows how the product works.

- When integrating with GIS, we lost data.

- There is no real integration with GIS systems, they simply ask for a username and password that they store in their database Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Cartegraph Asset Management has simply caused gaps in reporting and a decrease in morale. There has been no benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

Being able to efficiently manage infrastructure by the effective identification of asset conditions via task management, provides an ideal solution to knowing what you have, what state it's in, and how best to manage those infrastructures. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

It's not quite perfect yet. Although, it is continuously being updated based on user input and suggestions from community feedback. The advanced reporting aspect of Cartegraph needs to be more streamlined as this can prove difficult at times.

Unwanted data duplication and asset retirement do occasionally occur which can be frustrating to fix.

Scenario Builder could use more adjustments to better streamline user expected outcomes.

The mobile application display options can use more user adjustment selections.

Integration with third-party software can be rough at times.

It is, however, a great tool for municipalities requiring an edge in asset management of infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Cartegraph Asset Management:

Like every software product out there, it has its downsides. Continuous updates are needed but it is a better option when considering municipal asset infrastructure management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Employees' work performance has increased due to efficient time management. In addition, having an insight into the budgetary analysis for each fiscal year provides an advantage in the proper management of allocated tax dollars. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

Cartegraph OMS is a powerful asset management software that allows an organization to manage a wide range of assets. They are always improving, adding features that their users request. Its tie-in to GIS is using the best practice of connecting to your live GIS layers using a GIS Server so everything is in sync and up-to-date. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

There is a learning curve for the average user to become proficient in it. I don't know how you could provide such a powerful program without it being a little complicated, but they try to make it as user-friendly as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Cartegraph Asset Management:

I do think this is the best solution out there for asset management. If you don't have the budget, I could see using esri tools to do some of the same stuff, but it isn't going to be as cohesive, powerful, or as easy to manage as Cartegraph is. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps us in knowing the condition of our assets, managing and documenting work done on those assets, and providing data at the tip of employees' fingertips. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

It is extremely customizable yet user-friendly. The Cartegraph model encourages customization and the platform is flexible enough to allow clients to build workflows that work for them while also providing enough limitations to ensure database and program integrity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

When I'm limited by the current development. There are times I have envisioned a development plan for a particular workflow but the current state of development for the app is not where I need it to be to accomplish that. This is not a deal breaker however because there are always multitude other solutions to get to whatever end goal I'm reaching for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Cartegraph is helping us route our labor crews more efficiently. It is allowing us to improve the integrity of our utility asset databases and collect data real-time that is meaningful. It has improved the budgeting and reporting process for our utilities and it has helped us to identify areas of potential income. We are able to track our solid waste service more efficiently such that we can now tell when and why a cart may not have been picked up which results in greater accountability for our crews as well as our citizens. There are many ways in which Cartegraph has improved operations, possibly the greatest of which is customer communication and service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

I enjoy how responsive the staff is whether it be a support question or a customer service question. I always feel like a priority and never feel like a burden. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

The only downside about Cartegraph is how it can feel unintuitive when you first are introduced to it. I have found that once you work with it for a while it becomes much more intuitive, however, you have to get over that first hurdle when starting with the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our organization hasn't reached full Cartegraph implementation yet so it might be too early to tell. Looking ahead, I can see it benefiting us in budgeting and increasing our knowledge of our city's assets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cartegraph Asset Management?

Cartegraph OMS is a pleasure to work with as a company and a product. The product is very powerful, but not overwhelming for new users. They keep the interface consistent throughout the product, so once you learn one section of the software, it will seem familiar in other areas. The company supports its product directly. No third-party installers or foreign support groups to worry about, you work directly with the owner of the product. They are very responsive to their users and respond to user input. They take suggestions submitted by end-users to their customer Ideas portal and build new features and tweaks regularly. I wish other products I support were as easy to work with as Cartegraph OMS. They have become the benchmark that we use in our IT department to compare other products. Good stuff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cartegraph Asset Management?

Not a real downside to Cartegraph itself, more of an issue with working with a complex system. If you are starting fresh, then be prepared to put in the work and have support from management to the field. These types of systems will make you reevaluate how you do work. More than likely, things will change. Be open to the change and look at it as an opportunity to fix your business practices. This will NOT be a one-man endeavor. You will need a team for this to be successful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Cartegraph Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

There is a reason the product is called Operational Management System (OMS). It's much more than a work order system. It will give everyone in your organization access to the same data. Your field crews will be able to see that same historical data as your management. No more outdated paper map books. No more paper anything. You can start capturing just about everything digitally. Set up automations in the system to help automate repetitive tasks, or use them to trigger tasks based on conditions you set. You can forecast the condition of your assets to help build your budgets, and help decide where to spend that new budget. The more data you collect into the system, the more you realize the power of all of that data. It is a powerful tool that gives you the freedom to think outside of the box. Do you have automated rain gauges at your organization? Our organization is building an integration to pull the daily rain totals into Cartegraph and then have Influx and Infiltration tasks automatically generated based on a rainfall threshold. This gives us timely tasks generated for our crews and a record of work done on the issue. All automated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
