As a TA, I use it to grade assignments for students and give them feedback. It's pretty good for educators as well as students. Students can read my feedback but also reply to it and ask for further clarification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The website when used on my desktop gives me no issues and works seamlessly but the mobile app can be very frustrating at times. It often will shut down and restart automatically saying the app 'ran into a problem'. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Without Canvas, organizing assignments (and staying organized) was a difficult thing for me. Papers would get lost, copies of assignments for absent students would be misplaced, etc. With Canvas, I no longer need to worry. Once it's uploaded and assigned, kids can access assignments (whether they are in school or not) and turn them in when they are done - no more paper. Grades sync with our grading system and communication is easy (parents can be observers to not only see what we are doing in class but to see comments from teachers and students made on assignments as well as grades. It's really an all-in-one program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't know about 'least helpful' but there is a bit of a learning curve. However, the Canvas tutorials are great and you can search for how to do things on the web. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Canvas integrates seamlessly with other educational tools and systems, such as plagiarism detection software, video conferencing platforms, content repositories, and learning analytics tools. This integration capability enables educators to leverage existing resources and enhance the learning experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As with any online platform, data security is a concern. While Canvas has robust security measures in place, there is always a potential risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to sensitive information. Institutions and users must take appropriate precautions to protect their data and privacy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I like best about Canvas as an LMS is the ability to allow teachers to control what students see, set pacing, and insert supplemental material to enhance student learning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is only one dislike about Canvas LMS and that is the user interface isn't as intuitive as I feel it could be. It is getting better, though....so KUDOS! Think of "Apple" phones vs. Andriod phones. Android phones are more customizable, but not as intuitive as Apple phones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the link integration and how it is much more intuitive than Blackboard. Having the app that functions well is extremely helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are so many different things that you can do with it that it is sometimes hard to learn how to implement it more effectivley. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Canvas LMS includes robust assessment and quiz features, allowing instructors to create and administer online quizzes and assessments. The platform supports various question types, including multiple-choice, essay, and matching questions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Canvas LMS is a commercial platform, and its pricing structure is typically based on a per-user or institutional licensing model. The cost of implementing and maintaining Canvas LMS may be a consideration for educational institutions, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Instructor Perspective: This allows me to customize the course on Canvas that is in alignment with my teaching methods. Moreso, it's very versatile allowing me to upload multiple formats of assignments such as video files, images, and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VERY glitchy on the mobile application which often causes me distress and annoyance. Its been ages and this issue is yet not been solved by them. The glitches really slow my work down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's really easy to use, mobile-friendly, and integrates well with lots of tools. There's been a noticeable drop in support requests after transitioning to Canvas from our previous LMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While Canvas is really easy to use, I don't like using New Quizzes. I've been intentional about not recommending it to faculty and generally avoiding it currently but I'm hopeful for future improvements from Instructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interaface is intuitive and easy to use. The mobile apps are a good adjunct to the full interface and ongoing development is solid. The competition is clunky by comparison. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some feature sets provide the bare minimum and never receive further development. I am looking at attendance and appointment scheduler in particular. And New Quizzes? Why is a quizzing engine still in beta after over ha;lf a decade? Too little for too long. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What I enjoy most about the Canvas LMS is it's flexibility to customize "Pages" to enhance the student's end user experience. It's definitely a positive to be able to customize course sites with ease and Canvas' functionality eliminates the need for students to endlessly scroll through a list of files to find what they need. There aren't many downsides to Canvas for me. Perhaps some easier options/workflows when it comes to linking internal documents, assignments etc while you're within the content editor. At present, it's just one too many clicks to get to where I need to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
