I have really enjoyed getting familiar with the Camtasia editing platform, and have found it to be intuitive to use - even for someone who is not trained in video editing. I use it fairly frequently, and have found it easy to find locate supporting information to assist me with learning more about things I don't immediately know how to do. I like the ease in which I can upload my projects in different formats or to different destinations. I think the pricing is appropriate for the capabilities, and plan to continue using it as my primary video editing tool at the office and at home. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I believe some of the graphic tools or elements are a bit rudimentary or old-fashioned, so I have not really utilized those things. I would also like to see better tools for editing color, clarity, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Though it is a software with many options and features, it is not necessary to master all those in order to be able to produce high quality videos. I have been using Camtasia for producing my videos since 2008 and the company keeps updating and improving the sofware. Over time a lot of new functions were added without encumbering its usage. It is only getting better and the speed of processing improved a lot and now it saves me much time. I also like a lot the ability to add markers wherever I want on the timeline and create that invaluable menu that helps my subscribers. If I need to edit or cut out something, it is very easy and very precise, it allows you to pinpoint the exact section you want to delete or move.
Over the years I had several times issues with the software where I needed help and the customer support did not let me down. They were prompt and consistent in their handing of my questions. All issues I had were resolved to my full satisfaction.
I produce at least 5 videos per week. Videos of about 45-60 minutes each. I came to trust the quality and reliablility of the software early on and I have not been let down by sudden or unfortunate crashes. It is also easy to refer back to projects that I did and recover or select sections to be used again in other contexts.
Once the video is ready for uploading to my website, it is an easy and a smooth process. There are various options to upload the end product.
So I would not hesitate to recommend this software to anyone seeking a robust, yet intuitive and flexible software that has plenty of options to prepare even highly elaborate visual presentations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In the current version, I have not noticed any problematic features or drawbacks. There were some issues in past versions but the company worked on them. It is a company that listens to its cusomers.
One aspect that I have not investigated fully but may be a shortcoming is that if one goes back over a decade and a tried to run old videos recorded with older versions, you might run into problems if you try to access and play those old files with the latest version. I guess this is a normal thing in our high tech, fast progressing world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Really enjoy using Camtasia as its so intuitive and easy to figure out. It has all the features you would expect and is easy to navigate. Love that they keep adding features that are useful with new releases Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Only complaint is the auto captioning. If the words arent picked up properly you cant add in more words than it thinks it heard. I'd love to be able to upload the SRT but use the formats that are available in the auto captioning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Product is pretty easy to use, and can be used to cut and record videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The exported file size could be reduced. /A teams room recordig might end up fem hunded MB, while converted and exprted in camtasia 10x size.
The fps algorith could be more flexible./
I would like functionalty like MS teams, with web-camera filters to provide background image blur, setting cam background image. (when camera is recorded).
Audio nosie filters to remove noise.
HEIC HDR format support
Subscription pricing is high especially if you need Audiate for full functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best thing about Camtasia is the ease with which you can edit various layers. The drag-and-drop feature and the ability to edit on the fly make it easy and efficient to create and edit videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At first, it takes some understanding of how to interact with and use Camtasia, which may be difficult for those who are unfamiliar with this type of software. However, once you understand the basics of how Camtasia works, it is very easy to use and learn. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how simple Camtasia Audiate is to use. As someone coming from no background in audio or video production, I was able to get right into Audiate and use it to help make my internal training videos professional and engaging. It also seamlessly integrates into Camtasia and allows me to edit whole or specific track and import them right back in with transcriptions included! I use both Camtasia and Camtasia Audiate on almost a daily basis in my job and it has allowed me to grow in ways I had never imagined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside I have found to Camtasia Audiate is when using the AI audio scripts, it doesn't allow for intonation adjustments. I'd also love to see Audiate further develop its background noise removal feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We love how easy the entire app is to use. It's very user friendly, even for beginners. We not only use Camtasia for our own business, but we also refer and teach our clients how to use it as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Would love to see Audiate being included at no additional charge, as both subscriptions gets very expensive, and way beyond what Descript charges.
The only other challenge we have is the audio. Clicks can be heard between two clips but only while editing...it thankfully isn't heard in the final. In addition to this, the audio metering is horrible. I can't easily tell how loud the audio levels are, so I often have to export the video into Final Cut Pro and use their meters, adjusting, then outputting the final render. I love that I can literally edit out long pauses and hesitations (ums & ahs!) quickly and without any hassle. It's easy to use - and while I pay for it myself (the universities that I work for don't have it available for me to use) the combination of Camtasia / Audiate / Screencast is worth my while as it saves me so much time and lets me create content that I can 'tweak' ever semester. I would rather spend my time getting the content right and working with my students than editing videos!
I make content for classes - one of the universities I work for as a sessional lecturer has moved to 100% online video lectures and all tutorials need to be recorded. I'm a long time user of camtasia, but let's face it the reasons I'm a good lecturer have nothing to do with my acting / video editing skills. I don't script - if I did I'd be reading out lound - so there are a lot of hesitations. Being able to pull them out (I don't even check any more the process is so good) is worth it to me.
I have had a few issues and I'm in Australia and Customer Support is - I assume - in the USA. But they have always been super responsive and helpful - and I feel like they are genuinely interested in resolving my issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Audiate really doesn't like it if the files are not on your local hard disk when you're working. I work in a Microsoft365 environment, so even when things are on my hard disk they are also in the cloud and this has caused issues a number of times. There's nothing more frustrating than taking the time to edit a long video only to find out that it won't sync... and the message saying it won't sync only comes AFTER you've set it to sync (which for a recording of a 2 hour tutorial can be a really really long time!).
There are some 'missing' features that I'd love to see - for example, wouldn't it be great if you could put markers in the audiate file to create your chapters? Even better if the AI would suggest where these go. That would definitely save me a tonne of time.
I've had some issues with random bugginess - Customer support has been fantastic, but there are still occassional 'won't sync' issues. My work around is to cut the soundtrack into smaller bits and do them separately - but I never really know whether it will work or not. It certainly less buggy now than it was a year ago and its never been so buggy that its not worth using - but there's more work to be done there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There's a few features of Camtasia Audiate that have made my podcast editing workflow much more efficient and effective: 1) text-based audio and video editing: it's very easy to remove filler words, reduce gaps and pauses, edit entire sequences, correct the auto-generated text, etc; 2) audio improvement features: I've recorded podcast episodes that have different speakers with vastly different recording situations and I've been able to apply audio improvement profiles to correct issues with reverb, plosives, essing, distortion and clipping. It's also been helpful to save some of these audio settings in chains to reuse.
I have yet to implement the AI features around text generation or audio generation but hope to try those out soon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only downside is when you have multiple segments in your Camtasia pipeline and you'd like to edit as one in Audiate. That might be more of a user error or user education. I've also seen that the temporary files can get pretty big but it's a minor niggle (plus, you can easily set those temp files to be removed). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Easy of use - you really cn get going in 5 minutes in you knw how to use a mouse! The 'track' idea is fairly common plac ein editing and works exactly as you think it would.
But once you've mastered the basics, there are so many great features.
I am enjoying working with Audiate now. The AI voices are now 'on the cusp' of sounding human. With just a little help (eg spelling out words for sets of initials) you can find a good AI voice to deliver your text. Tje great thing aobut that is that when you want to change the text, you just type and publish - no need to record a whole seciton again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have to be gones,t the down dizde is the price. I think it's worth it, but if you are just making a one off video, yes, that would be pricey. But f you are making regular content, it will soon pay for itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
