What do you like best about Box?

The idea that Box can provide full sync services, as well as back up your NAS drives, is great. It's also at a much better price point than most competitors. The best feature is the volume of storage you get—its unrivalled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

There are three key things that we strongly dislike.

ONE. The interface is simple and made to work with your operating system seamlessly. The biggest challenge is setup. There seems to be no place to set up what volumes you'd like to back up. Yet somehow, things magically back up. It isn't very clear how it works. There seems to be no documentation or tutorial around setting up specific backup folders.

TWO. Status updates. We have TBs of data stored with Box. We don't know when files are backing up. Box Drive is engineered to sync data instantly, but it doesn't. Eventually, things do back up but leave us wondering how much we can trust that our files are current.

THREE. Price. Yes, the price is reasonable, but you need to buy a minimum of 3 accounts. Why should I sit on two unused accounts for my small business? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Box:

Thoroughly and aggressively test the trial. Box has failed to meet all of their promises. Applications don't work, system won't sync. That is the system's most important job, if not its sole purpose for existence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

We chose Box as a backup and Cloud solution for our design business. The fact that you can browse files straight from your OS like a file folder is brilliant—although similar to other services now. What is really special is the ability to edit Photoshop PSDs without downloading them. Not that's special. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Box allows us to upload any type of file and access that data from anywhere with an Internet connection. The user interface is intuitive, and I really like that it can be integrated directly with the computer to save us time, I have managed to integrate it with other tools without any problem, and all the plans it offers give unlimited storage. Thanks to its unlimited storage and useful features, it has helped our company save time and be more productive. Another aspect to consider is that it works well for teams involving employees from different departments or offices, and it also helps keep all ongoing tasks organized. For my day-to-day work, Box has been an invaluable tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

On rare occasions, even with my lightning-fast Internet, I've seen both uploads and downloads become painfully slow. I don't know what causes this; these are isolated incidents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is one of our primary cloud storage solutions since we utilize it internally to distribute all kinds of data. It's utilized across the board in our administrative functions, and its widespread adoption has given our employees confidence in their ability to tackle the data sharing, backup, and other modern business difficulties that lie ahead. Having a tool that allows us to work and collaborate from anywhere on any device has been crucial to us, so it helps us meet the demands of efficient file delivery without the hassle of sending and receiving hard drives or USB drives. Our business has greatly benefited from it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Box is a fantastic platform; it's perfect for cloud storage, it has an easy to understand interface, it's clean and all I have to do is log in to store what I need. Great for backups, easy to set up and use. As our company grows and we take on more clients, projects and team members, it adapts to the document needs. The ability to sync with individual folders streamlines the process of storing, retrieving and sharing files and documents. A well-prepared and professional appearance is an asset to any business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

As far as I can tell, it's the ideal tool; there's nothing wrong with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

Box has helped us increase accessibility and security, make it easier to find and share files, and streamline our workflow. It's all gone well, and it's a huge improvement; it does what it says it does, and it makes things easy to find and change, which improves the end product. The fact that we can access the data from any device, whether it's a desktop computer, laptop or even a cell phone, is a huge plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Well I used to really like it and then it got so expensive and they started with these high pressure tactics to set up all these meetings and then upsell you stuff you don't need, then they end up just looking at your plan and making up reasons to double your costs when it's already exorbitantly priced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

High pressure salespeople unilaterally jacking your costs during the middle of the BFCM holiday rush. Random disparate offerings that don't really add value that they try to push on you all the time. Really people? Read the room. Have a touch of class. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's not solving any problems now. We were a major proponent of it, but now they are just money grubbing high pressure sales people without class. The costs outweigh the benefits. Ready to find another platform and say goodbye. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Notable and strong security features of Box include compliance with regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, and FedRAMP, in addition to extensive permissions and audit controls. Box allows me to set up a cloud where any kind of file or document can be accessed by anyone with the simple click of a link. Due to its extensive security features, such as data encryption, two-factor authentication, and custom logins, I have depended significantly on it for all of my projects. Among its many useful document management features include a folder structure, copy/paste, and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

While it has done its job, we are aware that there are free options available that are just as good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

Since it is utilized throughout all of our departments, it is highly adaptable. It helps us meet our obligations to teams and clients while also facilitating the sharing, supporting, and managing of documents and files, which is fantastic for our business. For both our business and personal life, having a safe space to communicate, collaborate, and share files has been crucial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Box has a simpler and more user-friendly ecosystem, which permits the upload of files in a more organized and easy-to-locate way. Also, the option of signing documents is beneficial when it comes to having a bunch of people sign a document and not needing to send individual emails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

The only thing I would say is that it takes a little longer to upload files, compared, for example, to OneDrive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

It keeps me from having to send individual files or folders to my peers in order to share content. I'm a training coordinator, so I constantly am creating content and this is the easiest way to share it with my team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

However, the platform's full set of features may be more than what some casual users or small businesses need. The pricing structure, particularly for advanced features, may also be a consideration for smaller organizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

Within our organization, we use Box as a key platform for sharing essential campaign information. Through this tool, we manage and distribute editable files, such as Adobe InDesign documents, as well as links in JPG, .AI, and PDF formats.

At the end of each meeting, folders containing the most up-to-date campaign assets are shared via Box. This ensures that the entire team has quick and organized access to the necessary materials, allowing us to continue progressing efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

One drawback is the difficulty in visualizing files in .TIFF and .PSD formats. The current viewer for these formats could be improved to offer better clarity and ease of use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

I haven't encountered any issues with file uploads or downloads, as the process has always been simple and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

For many years I was a satisfied user of Box, when they had the now depreciated Box Sync App. All worked mostly fine, the pricing was ok, but not perfect Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

When Box forced me to upgrade to Box Driver, the trouble started. Box did a backup of my old files, which was good. However as it switched from Box Sync to Box Drive, not all files where transferred. The problem was, I did not know which ones were transferred and which ones weren't. So I had to check every file.

But the real trouble is, with Box Drive, they created Schroedinger's files on my computer. Not all files show up on Box.com, so I don't know whether they are fully updated to the cloud or are on my computer or somewhere else in the universe. The little update icons turned out to be pretty useless.

For context, I am using a 2017 iMac, so the old Mac might not be fully compatible with Box Drive. But if you offer cloud hosting it's your job to ensure compatibility across all devices.

I am now about to collect my files, move them to another cloud hosting and cancel and never return to Box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

Hosting files in the cloud. But it does not do so reliably. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Box?

What's not to love? It does not steal my data, does not sell my info to thrid parties and provides me with secure servers to backup my critical (and useless) data. Plenty of space on the free plan for you to make sure your Documents and Pictures folders are fully backed up (unless you're a hoarder, of course). Desktop sync is easy to set up and quite reliable. There are apps for all the major platforms (R.I.P. Palm, BB and BB10 but they where there when those were not EOL'd). The paid plans are affordable and do offer quality of life features the free plan could use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Box?

My dislikes are less about the BOX app than to the fact that the integration BB10/BOX had left everything else feeling like a poor knockoff - including their own Android app. I don't think Android (Google) would ever let them have that level of integration with the system, so this is kinda not on them. it is now 2024 and that sentiment has not changed.

They should update their plans. It's 2024. BOX still treats user data as if it was 2012. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Box:

If you need a free backup and sync solution and 10GB is enough for you, go for it. If you need robust file sync, go for it. It's easier than getting GDrive to work on Windows that's for sure! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Box solving and how is that benefiting you?

I no longer worry if any of my devices will go kaput because I know my critical data is safe and sound on BOX's servers and can easily be retrieved any time I want, on any device I need. Also instant backup and sync between devices I am logged on. Box allows me to backup, access and edit all my data. Securely. Privately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
