Blackbaud Student Information System Pros and Cons

A superb platform for managing student, parent, class, teacher, advisory, boarding and all student-related data. We have an extremely complicated daily schedule and the software is able to adapt to our needs. The LMS is flexible and integrates with the 3rd party applications we need it to. The only area in which Blackbaud has struggled of late is their support. As a 28 year user of the system, I can honestly say that my team and I know more about the Blackbaud products than the first several levels of tech support personnel. We struggle to quickly reach engineering and higher tier support personnel who can actually help us with our issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only thing is that I wish there was a way to upload photos better onto bulletin boards for my classes. This would allow me to share with parents easier. Possibly an app for mobile devices too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The navigation is simple and allows for faculty/staff/students/parents all the ability to easily locate where they need to be in the system. I am so glad that our school switched to Blackbaud 5 years ago. The system is very user-friendly and simple to use. I love being able to create and save note templates so that I can more quickly respond to inquiries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The user interface of Blackbaud in both the landing page for attendance, schedule, etc. is very easy to navigate. It is especially nice to have the the daily schedule laid out in the correct order and timing on the "My Day" page. Another nice feature in the gradebook section is the ability to see full labels for assignments (as opposed to a limited set of abbreviations in other platforms, which made it confusing to identify assignments). There are some small frustrations with the gradebook, such as a missing grade not automatically equaling a '0'. Teachers are also not able to see a students' overall schedule, which is something that does not come up often, but is not helpful when trying to assist a student in finding information. The only other complaint is that for teachers/faculty who also have children in the district, there is not a separate account for them to use to keep work and personal information separate.
