It is very streamlined if you have the Blackbaud Student Information System (SIS) and it feeds that information directly into the LMS. It's great for parents to be able to see their child's class information all in one place too. It is difficult to sell the LMS if you are already using Google apps for education. Teachers can assign work in Google Classroom or have them navigate to Google Drive links elsewhere instead of posting it as an assignment in Blackbaud that then ultimately link to Google Drive anyway. The grading plans are difficult to build to your customizations and most importantly for our school, it is difficult to use the Report Cards and Transcripts with how our grading plans are set up. I appreciate the ability to have a lot of different information in one place. Grades, activities, contacts, the ability to send out communication. The transcript setup is very outdated and while we have asked dozens of times for a few, very common upgrades, we have been told the system is "unable to accommodate" such a request. We see transcripts from other schools daily, and the vast majority include these efficiencies - but these schools use platforms other than BB.

One other concern I have is that often when using customer support we are told very different things based on who we speak with. One tech might say "that is not possible" and another might say "I can definitley help you with that." It can be discouraging to be told "no" only to speak with someone from another BB school who says "oh yeah, they helped me set that up." There is a wide assortment of options and functions it offers to the users of all sorts whether it's a teacher or student. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It feels like there are often changes made (that aren't necessarily helpful on the user end) that lead to bugs that don't get fixed in a timely manner and Blackbaud support is only helpful so often. Often times, basic functions tend to abruptly stop working; items aren't displayed properly, files aren't able to get uploaded successfully. Ease of use varies frequently. Support also feels like a very hit or miss piece. It's frustrating that only some people can access support directly, not entirely sure if that's set by my place of work or by Blackbaud. It is very helpful to have all student documents (testing, assessments, outside testing, etc.) all stored within the student's profile. As a school for students with learning differences, we refer to these documents frequently and teachers have quick access to them without having to switch to Google Docs. While the LMS is very user-friendly, we have families who struggle with access. As a small school without an IT department, it takes a lot of time for our faculty /staff to assist families throughout the day. The feature set is pretty deep. We use the system every day in 100s of ways. Users are able to interact with the system in multiple helpful and simple ways. The UI needs updating and improvement. Though onboarding was good, continuous support is a mixed experience. Some (less central) features are underdeveloped. Similarly, some partnerships and API integration products are missing or underdeveloped. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We would like to be able to tailor Blackbaud's school forms to our school's specific needs. I'd also appreciate a dietery preference section as not all students have a specific allergy, but we need to honor their specific dietary needs and requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Blackbaud’s LMS is great because it connects easily with other Blackbaud tools, like the Student Information System.
