Altru's repetitive processes for completing tasks can be very helpful when you're starting out with it, this makes it easier to learn how to do things. The membership program management is very straightforward and doesn't take much to get the hang of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Has some glitches and the support team isn't always the quickest at responding/fixing things but they will get done in the end. At our organization we've also noticed a lot of connectivity issues with Altru specifically, it definitely is touchy when it comes to browsers and internet connection. It is a truly all-encompassing, one-stop shop for institutional constituent relationship management, providing tools--and lots of them--relevant to just about every possible department area. There is not much you wouldn't be able to accomplish with Altru, although it may take a while to figure out how to do something that isn't an intuitive major feature. While Altru has just about everything a ticketed institution could ever need, it isn't necessarily the best product on the market for each need/department/functional area. Some areas could use improvement or much greater customizability. And one of the biggest complaints I have heard from within my institution is that Altru does not directly integrate with other Blackbaud products we use in other departments (i.e. Financial Edge). This makes it quite difficult for cross-departmental coordination and requires staff to be trained in an additional system they should theoretically not need to work with. Blackbaud has some of the best customer service in the industry and is extremely helpful when issues arise. They can help walk you through how to build reports and address issues with ticket builds. The retail side for merchandise sales leaves a lot to be desired if you have a large inventory like we did. The inventory side of things can get dicey and it took us days to complete our annual inventory since we couldn't scan anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This is the most difficult museum software I've ever used. It takes forever to update events and I can run several different reports to see admission numbers and each report brings up different admission number and none match! Altru's more advanced functions are menacing and quite chaotic. From what I understand, the back end is quite limiting and I know that it is incompatible with certain modern features of websites (not sure of the specifics). Altru's interface and information architecture could also seriously use some reorganizing; I don't think I've ever intuivitely found something I was looking for. The organizational calendar is the bane of my colleagues' existence, but I think that's because it lacks quick updates and communication between people who need information about the events.
