It helps make designs for civil engineering projects faster and more accurate. What I like most are its customizable designs and tools, which make difficult processes like grading, roadway design, and pipe networks easier. Using GIS data and tools to create surfaces and terrains also makes the work more comfortable for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Civil 3D has many good features, but there are some challenges that users experience. It needs a powerful computer to work properly, especially for big projects. Sometimes, it crashes when too many files are open, and there are times when files do not save. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Uno de los puntos débiles es el autosalvado, si no eres cuidadoso tienes que repetir nuevamente el trabajo. El lado flaco de Civil 3d es la exportación al formato IFC, si requieres datos en este formato tendrás que editarlos con otro software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
AutoCAD is super productive for 2D drawings (drafting and annotation). It allows me to create multiple or very large, technical drawings (blue prints) and building plans, with less fear for error due to broken relationships, which is perculiar to paramaetric desgin softwares. AutoCAD has unique abilites like use of layers, blocks, xrefence and Osnaps, which make your drafting experince unforgetable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
AutoCAD's files structure doesnt feature categorizing a design file into parts, componets and bodies, its sees all as one, making it less suitable for 3D designs practices
AutoCAD design is mostly manipulated geometrically instead of parametrically, certain operations and task would be difficult and time consuming to carry out manually and repetitively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Once you understand the interface and options menu, it’s easy to use.
- Consistency in the UI, even for such a massive software.
- You can literally export anything you create, with complete control over every single line, thickness, family, color, and property.
- Integrations, integrations, and more integrations—you can connect it to almost anything, its easy to implement!
- Cloud services are top-tier.
- Supports electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and architectural work seamlessly. Tons of featuers as well
- Allows you to create and edit families with ease.
- A huge library of websites offers ready-made families for use.
- A massive community of Revit add-ins enhances the software, adding new features or improving specific ones like thermal analysis, exporting options, layouts, and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Be cautious when saving files and working across different Revit versions, as files cannot be saved in older formats.
- The interface can feel overwhelming at times, which may be a challenge for new users.
- Certain tools behave differently from the main tools, so it’s essential to keep that in mind.
- Performance tends to slow down with larger projects, which is understandable but still
- The rendering engine isn’t the best, but you can easily export to or use other engines.
- It can be expensive, especially if you rely on multiple Autodesk software programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- The easiest 2D drafting software! I’ve been using it almost daily for work and university since around the 2010 versions.
- I can easily save and import files to other Autodesk software, like Revit.
- 3D drafting is also available if needed. While it’s not my main focus, I’ve used it for a while, and it’s easy to learn and implement, even in 3D.
- An industry-standard software—enough said.
- They have many agencies for customer support across multiple countries. I haven’t needed them yet because I’ve never had an issue!
- Tons of tutorials are available everywhere.
- Sharing files is seamless and straightforward.
- Frequent updates and new versions with exciting features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- The price, obviously. Students can get it for free for a few years, but for standalone designers, it’s a significant expense.
- Same issue with subscriptions—it sometimes feels very strict.
- I’ve always used the Windows version, but I recently had to switch to Mac, and there are slight changes in the interface and settings. It can be a bit confusing. Just make it universal!
- I know there’s a cheaper, lighter version for designers, but what if you suddenly need all the features for just one small instance? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Supports various file formats and makes colaboration easier. It has a good customer support and online resources to support beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Requires high perofrmance hardware to support big files. It does not have ample data when compared with other 3d softwares. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Revit is reasonably simple to learn and use, and has remained very consistent over the decade or so that I have used it. It is surprisingly versatile and has ben able to handle almost anything I've thrown at it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I generally find that new features are slow to roll out, and tend to focus on major flashy integrations that attempt to expand the software, rather than the minor little tweaks and improvements which would actually improve daily processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
AutoCad has a very broad user base and it's the defacto standard for manufacturers and suppliers distributing blocks and other CAD entities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The basic problem for us was that AutoDesk's business practices were inconsistent with the relationship we needed. The basic AutoCad software is quite mature but doesn't really undergo significant upgrades or improvements (that's a user's perspective, not the AutoDesk marketing department's) but the price keeps going up and service keeps going down.
We weren't impressed and really couldn't use the multiple little software products they kept adding and trying to bundle. As a small firm, we needed the simple, solid product we'd had at a reasonable price. ultimately left AutoCad as it became way too expensive and there was no customer service for firms of our size.
While I regretted leaving we left be we understood that we were unimportant to AutoDesk. Autodesk saw no profit in serving us if you look at it on a customer-by-customer basis. Better to sell one site license for 100 seats than 100 seats 5 seats at a time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Working with AutoCAD makes you easy to draft any 2d circuit and schematic drawing by easy commands you won't need to learn and enter the shortcuts which makes easy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As I am working on AutoCAD from the past 3 years the downside of AutoCAD is that you have to use the repeated commands while doing drafting which consumes time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
