What do you like best about Audacity?

Audacity is easy to record into, using pretty much any microphone. Editing is intuitive and user-friendly. The effects library is great, particularly the noise reduction feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

Sometimes zooming in and out of different zones is a bit disorienting. However, this is not a deal-breaker; there's not much that I dislike! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Audacity for personal musical editing and have done so for 25+ years. I also now use it to edit voice-over recordings for eLearning modules. It has helped me do precision editing and noise reduction effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

It's reliable (it never fails, always a last resort when any other tool crashed) and it's really straightforward to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

It only has audio features, if you could record video as well it'd be useful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Recording voiceovers for videos and editing audio files to give it effects (radio effects, cleaning audio, restore noise, and others). The speed and ease of use makes tasks like this quite better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

Audacity makes it very easy for the user to record audios and edit them in real time. I have also had instances where I had to cut paste single words from one audio file into another. Since you can take care of the pauses and add or delete them per your wish, you can render almost natural-flowing audios with this tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

The desktop application needs to be a little more intuitive. New users can have some challenges looking at all the icons and not knowing what exactly needs to be done to get a certain function working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Audacity makes it incredibly easy for me to record and edit audios. I work in the learning design industry and we constantly need voiceovers for our courses. These voiceovers can be recorded and edited very easily in the Audacity app Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

It is light. Uses less space, very easy to understand and use. It is also highly performant. Its interface is easy to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

It has quite an old interface; I think recently they have not worked on this aspect. Also, there are limited codecs, encoders and plugins to make the software interactive with file formats Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

It fixes the problems of sound editing. The experience is quite a great specialty as a beginner in sound editing will not be so lost Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

The price (free!) is the best feature, but the software is not crippled by any means. Users can edit, blend, and apply special effects to most any sound files, then export them into a format suited for the intended use. Stereo tracks can be rendered in mono, if desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

The software has a significant learning curve, and there is no user's manual to speak of. There is a large user community one can rely on for crowdsourced tech support, but you shouldn't expect a quick answer. Your best shot at resolving a problem is to hope that someone had the same problem before you did and posted a question about it to the user community.

You'll also find that some add-in software is needed to create or convert certain file formats. Usually, the software will report that you need this or that add-in to create the format you want, and tells you where to find it. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries before the software is configured to do what you need it to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

There are probably one or more commercial sound editing packages available for purchase, but I'm unaware of them. I've always used Audacity for my (usually simple) sound editing chores. Because the software is open-source, the user community is continuously improving it and expanding its range of special effects and file formats. Most of the sound editing work I do is to create sound effects for a presentation or to record telephone interviews for transcription. Audacity has served me well for these tasks. What do you like best about Audacity?

Audacity is a free and open-source audio editing software with lots of features. It is easy to use and install. I used it to reduce the background noise, which was very irritating. Audacity saves my time and effort with this noise reduction feature. We can also tune our voice by audacity for better presentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

Sometimes it distorts my voice after using the noise reduction feature, but it's ok. We can solve it by tuning the voice with some EQ features. Otherwise, there are no flaws in audacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I do voice-over daily for a variety of contents. So I use it to enhance the audio levels impressively and reduce the extra noise from the audio. Audacity allows me to do it quickly with its custom templates feature, which is very cool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

I like its vital feature the best: multi-track recording and user-friendly interface. Additionally, its waveforms are more accurate than other audio processing software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

The one thing I don't like about Audacity is that some bugs can be why the program is unstable; plus, it does not offer virtual instrument functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Audacity provides all kinds of hardware inputs, which solves all problems and saves me money on getting specific hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Audacity?

Audacity is great! I can easily record right from multiple microphones straight into the program for editing. Audacity also has a lot of cool and handy features! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Audacity?

Audacity has a pretty steep learning curve for some of the more useful features. It also doesn't come with all the features, we have had to download 3rd party plugins to this app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Audacity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Audacity allows us to record straight into the app and save time rather than having to record it elsewhere and import it in. With that amount of hours we use this app, every minute we can save adds up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
