Onboarding process & Technical support. Airflow and AWS Configuration Expertise. ROI is unmatched vs. building teams internally to build Enterprise Airflow. Ability to implement the newest version of Airflow without the headaches of managing EKS clusters on AWS. Their team is always there to provide support and make recommendations to improve our DAG ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I hope that Airflow will grow and be able to do larger data movement operations and eventually replace the need for separate Spark clusters. The expansion of XCOM's and Dynamic Task instances has been great but would still like to see more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Astro contains all the tooling we had planned on building ourselves internally. Not having to re-invent the wheel is great and saves us time. Having an environment that supports the most recent versions of Airflow is also nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The OpenLineage offering from Astro is not nearly as robust or well-documented as we expected. The lack of robustness is not a huge deal breaker, but it is somewhat annoying. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The support we received from Victoria Varney and Philippe Gagnon has been incredible while we're migrating over to astro (we're about 50% there - and would not be without Victoria and Philippe's patience and time to get us here). The astro ui, ability to dynamically spin up environments for various teams / use cases, and not having to worry about the infra is important to me as a data leader. Currently the only downside was the security hoops we had to go through to get everything connected properly in order for our initial dags to run. Once that was set up we had to tackle how to migrate our home grown packages but we finally got there, and now the migration is smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the easy CLI integrations, Docker-based deployments, and ease of development on Astro. These features make it a significant improvement over Google Cloud Composer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, so far, it has been great. The only thing I would point out is setting up the secrets manager and environment variables proved to be a bit confusing. But support was great, and we got through it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having different deployments, easy to create helped us a lot in enabling several teams within the company. In the past was difficult for us to manage different deployments, Astronomer did solve that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It requires non python expert users to adapt quite a lot to the language used. Even though this will be partially tackled with the IDE, it will cost us many more tasks.
Templating is missing! we had to create our repo that people clone and then adapt to have some examples Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- get started with Airflow quickly
- great learning resources created by Astronomer
- the Astro CLI enables an easy local development process
- Easy CI/CD through GitHub action
- Doesn't need to worry too much about the infrastructure Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- the pricing tier based on task runs limits the use cases for Airflow if you are not at scale Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Cloud platform to help support the jobs that need to run at any cadence. Integrates well with all the platforms used like Databricks and cloud services Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The initial setup can be challenging on the internal cloud services Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ability to test DAGs locally is second to none. You get complete exposure to what the DAG _should_ do locally so that there are no surprises when you move onto the staging or production environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Astronomer forces you to learn Docker. The curse here is that you may stumble upon a strange error message when running astro dev start from the command line if something in your Dockerfile is not correct. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
