Workflow and dependeny management for Enterprise level data lakes are well suited for Astronomer.
The product is more user friendly by supporting APIs, easy-to-build DAGs and graphical user interface.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Despite being an important tool, Astronomer still has room for improvement. We frequently experience realtime UI loading problems.
And aslo the documentation is adequate, adding more in-depth guides would be helpful, especially for advanced features.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifying Complex DAG management.
It also provides real time monitoring and visualisation which also improves troubleshooting and debugging efficient .
As a python developer makes me easy to code and deploy.

**Reviewed by:** Pedro F. | Business Unit Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The way the Astronomer development environment can be prepared and used with a simple CLI, the tight integration with the cloud enviroments, the easy way to deploy, secure and manage both workspaces, deployments and users, makes it a great solution a already great product that is Airflow.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Not much really... perhaps some of the technical requirements (both of networrking and security) in the initial cluster deployment makes it "hard to sell" in a corporate environment.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Is making the orchestration problem much easier to address, due to his easy of use.
Is also taking away the burden of installing Apache Airflow in a development enviroment.

  ### 3. Best in class Orchestration

Best in class orchestration tool with the best in UI interface.
Astro taken the Big data to next level.latest feature provide DAG linage.having tons of library which makes the developer job much easier.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Cost transparency need to enhanced and LOG tracking will also need some improvisation. POD errors are sometime headache. COSOMS library can have guided docs some places we are in lack of read me files,.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps to build the lineage with minimal effor which incur helps to reduces the developers cost. Also it helps to make the developer to be more productive by spending the time in best in class tools.

  ### 4. Love the Airflow Power Packed by Astronomer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** S K. | Data Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Love the timely updates, support whenever required.
The team is always available to help us whenever required, recently they were supporting us through the slack channel which they launched.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Costing, if they can improve on costing that would be the best thing.
Any which would not consider Airflow would be only because of high cost, but still I feel compared to other product it's way better.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Any new feature that is requested is available thorough astronomer very quickly compared to opensource version of Airflow, this increase the productivity and help us focus on workflow rather than managing infra.

  ### 5. Getting Aiflow up and running is super easy but a bit pricy

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astronomer's UI is super intuitive and makes it easier to have multiple separate workspaces and Airflow deployments. This way, each team can have its own Airflow in a few minutes.

Astronomer also has an integrated cloud IDE and the Astro CLI, which increases a lot the development speed.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

It can be very expensive and smaller companies may not have the budget to afford it. The self-hosted solution can easily increase your AWS monthly bill by USD 1.000,00 with just a few DAGs running. The plan entirely hosted by Astronomer looks like a black box where you don't have much visibility about what is being charged.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer is making it much easier to get our Airflow deployments up and running. It also speeds up the development of DAGs with its cloud IDE and the astro CLI.

**Official Response from Juliana ODonohue:**

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

I like the UI and that is able to give me a summary of what is happening in each of my airflow environments. I also like the documentation that gives a lot of examples of how to do stuff.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I would like to see more detailed documentation as well as some best practices regarding testing, me and my team find it very easy to use the astronomer environment and write DAGs in Airflow but we struggle to write tests...

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro helps us manage our Airflow environment that is responsible for automating various tasks related to call center, such as every morning running a workflow that is responsible for generating calling lists.

  ### 9. Astro - Easy Scheduling Tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The Astro CLI is definitely the thing I find the most useful. It enables you to get started with Airflow in a very simple manner without having to go through the complicated setup.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I dislike the fact that the cost model has you try to run as few tasks as possible since the pricing is done task based... This means that you have to go against best practices if you don't want to run out of tasks sometimes.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Doing ETL and orchestrating data pipelines. We use Astronomer for all extractions and anything that needs to be custom made. It enables us to get started very quickly without needing to deploy anything.

  ### 11. Orchestration and Management of data pipelines made easy by Astro

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It takes away the complexity of setting up and managing DAGs from an user's view. Its easy to understand the flow through the graph and grid even for Non-tech users and catching up the failures is so easy with the UI.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Nothing siginificant at this point but local setup relies on docker which could be a hassle for few users as docker is restricting Its free usage for commercial purposes

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Day to day DAG creation for simple and complex pipelines
-Multiple operator support which is maintained by astro.
-Easy debugging through the UI and backfill in a breeze

It has all the necessary operators.
Easy to integrate with cloud platforms.
Cross dependencies between pipelines.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Documentation could have been a bit better for the people who are new to Astro.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps with orchestrating my pipelines.

  ### 14. Data Engineer use case.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manikannan M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It is quite simple to start using Airflow. The UI is very good.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

It will be good if the price is little much affordable.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer solves the complexities of workflow management by simplifying task creation, scheduling, and monitoring. The visualisation is too good; it helps me  identify the individual dags in the airflow and work on that.

  ### 15. Performance of Astronomer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaishnavi S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It's best, I has auto refresh feature that I liked the most in astronomer.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

some feature are locked due to permission level. but It would be better if I know that feature exists so that I know

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it automates my works and easy to stream the process on daily basis

  ### 16. Workflow orchestration is easily doable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

  ### 18. Astronomer is easy to deploy and manage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jay R. | Head of Data & Analytics, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

I love the ease of using Astronomer to manage our Airflow instance. We don't have to worry about devops or compete for internal engineering resources. We can can spend our time building data pipelines instead of keep the system up.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I'd love for more robust cli options for backfilling on the production cluster. I'd also love for Astronomer (or the community) to share code in the `include` section of Astro for how people manage various generic data operations. I bet that many companies are writing very similar generic Pyhon for the include section. Astro could start pushing packages for trasformation similar to the way Fivetran is pushing data models in DBT to help customers. That would help customers move even faster.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1-click ETL tools like Fivetran don't fit all our use cases and we need to be able to run real ETL jobs and write real code to do it.

  ### 19. Protective and easy way for Astro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thanigaivel J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

User acess , auto refresing and visual upgrades are best in astronomer then normal astro

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astro by Astronomer made only improvements for using astro so none.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

workload automation makes the work easy managable

  ### 20. Astro is taking Airflow to the next level

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anton P. | Data Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The docker setup is great for scaling and not having to worry about inconsistent local development, the support provided by the Astro team is unmatched, and the guides/registry provided complement the Airflow repository wonderfully.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

So far, nothing! If a feature in Astro doesn't already have a guide to use, the support team will help out in a quick and responsive manner. Any feature that needs to be modified can be because of Astro's ability to be customized, so there is nothing that I can say I don't like.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem that Astro is solving is the issue of inconsistent local development, and the managed docker images that Astronomer provides solve this issue. Now resources don't need to be spent setting up local development and worrying about version differences when deploying DAGs to production.

  ### 21. I am satisfied

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It is quite intuitive and easy to use. Much simpler than the previous company system.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I don't like metrics in Astronomer since you cannot use a custom time range and the aggregations are often misleading. I am also looking forward to scale to zero. There were also some issues that we are trying to sort out.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We don't have to care about the underlying architecture under Airflow very much.

  ### 22. Migrated from MWAA - pleased with transition and product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cory J. | Director of Analytics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Most helpful part is definitely the pre-packaged docker container that comes with the local astro environment. It was way less bloated than our original self-built docker image and ran way better on my M1 mac.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I think their pricing structure could have some odd incentives if you were a really large enterprise who wanted to use astro. It could incentivize you to write bulky tasks to reduce your task count which is antithetical to the philosophies of Airflow.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro is handling all of the dev ops related to standing up and maintaining a data pipeline. Until you've tried to do this at an enterprise scale, you don't realize that writing the code is the EASY part, and that making all the services talk to each other is the hard part.

  ### 23. Astronomer is a great tool for managing airflow.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Being able to have multiple workspaces for each team. Also, the Astro CLI is a great tool for being able to replicate your environment locally.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Airflow has a beefy architecture, so naturally the cost isn't the best. Not super flexible if I need to access private resources on a different cloud account.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to isolate different airflow deployments between teams.
Running an identical environment locally.

  ### 24. A white glove experience for integrating Airflow

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David F. | Data Science Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

I don't need to know dev ops or data engineering. I can stick with python code and have top of the line orchestration without having to worry about servers and clusters and everything that blocks me from doing my job as a data scientist. Astronomer has a great push-button solution and wonderful support.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

The pricing by task makes me not want to use Airflow to its best capability. I am writing inefficient DAGs with monolithic tasks so that I don't spend too much of our spend on modularized tasks.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Airflow is a nightmare to setup and upkeep. Astronomer is taking all of the setup and infrastructure and letting me just worry about the code and pipeline. I now am off of Microsoft Scheduler and have much better control and monitoring of my data pipelines without having to hire a data engineer or dev ops person.

  ### 25. Smooth and Amazing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The customer support and reliability, also easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

They can maybe do the alerts more configurable in terms of the data to show in the alert.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro solves all the infrastructure support and maintenance, also any updates/patches are 100% managed by astro and they do it really well.

  ### 26. Astro allowed us to get more from Airflow

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damian G. | Director Of Engineering - Data Platform, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astro allowed us to get more out of Airflow by scaling up our deployments without the need to increase resources spent on managing the infrastructure. Version upgrades became easier, professional support is very friendly and efficient, and on top of that allowing us to take advantage of the Astro runtimes which provide us with wealth of improvements in top of the open source airflow flavour.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Not much comes to mind. It has been an overall improvement moving to Astro, and will do it again if we had to go back and take the decision again.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro Runtimes give us tried and tested ways how we can improve our code base when writing pipelines

Managed infrastructure allow us to focus on other areas, rather than managing the infrastructure

  ### 27. Data Pipeline use case

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vineeth D. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Easy integration of APIs and professional support is Good.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Pricing based on task runs.It makes bit costlier.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supporting integerations with different platforms.

  ### 28. Amazing from the first contact

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tomáš H. | Senior Backend Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Where to start? First, the sales were super keen on understanding our business and our technical needs, were very helpful in putting together several presentations about specific Airflow and dbt related topics we are interested in, and brought in an experienced engineer with whom we could go deep about technical questions. The whole sales process was as smooth as I could imagine such a thing to be. After signing the contract, I'm happy to say that our dedicated account manager and a dedicated engineer have raised the bar even higher. I loved the structure and amount of the related training materials we received; I can't thank enough the engineer who's been regularly discussing with us and advising us on how to best use the product - both the Astronomer platform and, more importantly, the Airflow itself. She's been super diligent in following up quickly whenever there was anything that required more research on her end. Last but not least - the Astro CLI and the Astronomer cloud just work, are pleasant to work with and take away any of the headaches we'd have if we were to manage Apache Airflow ourselves.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I only wish I discovered and started using the service sooner.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer is taking care of the Apache Airflow deployment, management and monitoring for its customers. On top of that, it offers customers access to a vast amount of knowledge and experience implementing data-engineering pipelines in Apache Airflow.

  ### 29. great product / great company / great people

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Will F. | Head Of Data, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astronomer's control plane provides fantastic visibility into our data operations. Astronomer offered the best mix of capabilities and structure of the managed data orchestration vendors we evaluated.

The thought leadership and support the Astronomer team provides are "best in class." Astronomer cares deeply about the success of their customers. Their approach is so unique that I have encouraged other vendors to look at how Astronomer supports customer success.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Nothing significant at this point. Astronomer is a company that will address and resolve issues. (See my: "What do you like best?")

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer allows us to focus more on our data flows and less on Airflow configuration and maintenance. Astronomer's frameworks for addressing common problems have become a major accelerator for our team.

  ### 30. My 'seamless' experience with Astronomer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed A. | Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The ability to create multiple deployments inside a single workspace or as per user-types and an all-new analytics page where we can see the DAGrun statistics. This helps the platform keep a check on resource usage and gives us more options to look out for a while monitoring our deployments.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I think the IAM needs attention as it does not help provide different permissions to users inside the same workspace. Right now individual users are able to create their own deployments inside a workspace, whereas that is not required. Hopefully Astronomer will look into this issue soon.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro helps in categorizing workspaces for different user types or deployment types. This benefits my company and me by separating our deployments for different user groups eg. Data Engineers and Data Analysts.

  ### 31. It is easy to learn and best scheduler which I came across

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

It is easy to learn and best scheduler which I came across.
Easy to learn

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Sometimes new features doesn't work staright forward.
Dependency on docker should be reduced

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All scheduling is taken care by astro. It takes the load off and focus only on logic part.
Yes, I am more prodcutive

  ### 32. Deploying Airflow for your Enterprise Level Needs Can be Challenging; Don't go Alone, Use Astronomer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommy G. | Data Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Onboarding process & Technical support. Airflow and AWS Configuration Expertise. ROI is unmatched vs. building teams internally to build Enterprise Airflow. Ability to implement the newest version of Airflow without the headaches of managing EKS clusters on AWS. Their team is always there to provide support and make recommendations to improve our DAG ecosystem.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I hope that Airflow will grow and be able to do larger data movement operations and eventually replace the need for separate Spark clusters. The expansion of XCOM's and Dynamic Task instances has been great but would still like to see more.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing infrastructure and code of Airflow. Plus, the ability to develop code locally and push through a well-defined CICD process is a big seller for us.

  ### 33. Great product for Data Engineers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric C. | Lead Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astro contains all the tooling we had planned on building ourselves internally. Not having to re-invent the wheel is great and saves us time. Having an environment that supports the most recent versions of Airflow is also nice.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

The OpenLineage offering from Astro is not nearly as robust or well-documented as we expected. The lack of robustness is not a huge deal breaker, but it is somewhat annoying.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro provides us (Data Engineer's at FreightWaves) with the most recent and up-to-date tools for developing within Airflow while not having to reinvent the wheel. This helps to increase our development speed and allows us to incorporate engineering best practices into our pipelines.

  ### 34. Fantastic Support While Onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron T. | DVP, Data Solutions, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The support we received from Victoria Varney and Philippe Gagnon has been incredible while we're migrating over to astro (we're about 50% there - and would not be without Victoria and Philippe's patience and time to get us here). The astro ui, ability to dynamically spin up environments for various teams / use cases, and not having to worry about the infra is important to me as a data leader.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Currently the only downside was the security hoops we had to go through to get everything connected properly in order for our initial dags to run. Once that was set up we had to tackle how to migrate our home grown packages but we finally got there, and now the migration is smooth.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Infrastructure management; environment management. Our current airflow (ec2 in aws) constantly goes down due to capacity and we don't have a cloud engineer on staff.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly not having to manage the infrastructure

  ### 37. Happy to be working in Astronomer!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian W. | Senior Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

I love the easy CLI integrations, Docker-based deployments, and ease of development on Astro. These features make it a significant improvement over Google Cloud Composer.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Honestly, so far, it has been great. The only thing I would point out is setting up the secrets manager and environment variables proved to be a bit confusing. But support was great, and we got through it.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes managing our Airflow instances much easier and provides a significantly improved developer experience. It is speeding up or development cycles and will set us up for a more maintainable and flexible architecture moving forward.

  ### 38. Enabling Data Mesh with Astronomer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francesco C. | Manager Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Having different deployments, easy to create helped us a lot in enabling several teams within the company. In the past was difficult for us to manage different deployments, Astronomer did solve that.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

It requires non python expert users to adapt quite a lot to the language used. Even though this will be partially tackled with the IDE, it will cost us many more tasks.
Templating is missing! we had to create our repo that people clone and then adapt to have some examples

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer is providing a super simple interface to enable teams across the company to have their dedicated environment to use. This allows separation without extra difficulties.

  ### 39. Start writing DAG instead of debugging celery workers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard F. | Director of Data Engineering, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2022

- Get started with Airflow quickly
- Great learning resources created by Astronomer
- The Astro CLI enables an easy local development process
- Easy CI/CD through GitHub action
- Don't need to worry too much about the infrastructure

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

- The pricing tier based on task runs limits the use cases for Airflow if you are not at scale.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Enable your small data engineering team to start writing DAGs quickly without the need to figure out how to set up, host, or scale Airflow.
- Enable the deployment of Airflow in our VPC to comply with our industry security standards.

  ### 40. Great tool for Cron Jobs and Job Automation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Cloud platform to help support the jobs that need to run at any cadence. Integrates well with all the platforms used like Databricks and cloud services

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

The initial setup can be challenging on the internal cloud services

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running ML models and Data Engineering jobs at an automated frequency

  ### 41. Astronomer improved our developer experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristian N. | Manager, Data Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The ability to test DAGs locally is second to none. You get complete exposure to what the DAG _should_ do locally so that there are no surprises when you move onto the staging or production environments.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astronomer forces you to learn Docker. The curse here is that you may stumble upon a strange error message when running astro dev start from the command line if something in your Dockerfile is not correct.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can experiment with new features to DAGs at a much faster rate than when we were not using Astro by Astronomer. It's that ability to test small features quickly that has won us over.

  ### 42. Worked in a big data engineering project

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It's Simplicity makes it very fun to use.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Well, from my experience, I find that the documentation could be more comprehensive.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro helps streamline data pipeline deployment and management, saving time and reducing complexity. This benefits me by making it easier to handle data workflows efficiently.

  ### 43. Takes care of a lot of issues for us so we don't need to reinvent the wheel!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Our team already had some experience using Airflow but we had managed it completely ourselves. Wanting to avoid some of the pain points there, we were looking for a fully managed service. We found Airflow to solve our problems without us having to reinvent the wheel. We also found the onboarding process relatively smooth and Astro offered significant resources to get us started.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

We didn't find anything that we disliked

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main one is fully managed Airflow of course. Another thing we appreciate is access to the academy tutorials which allow others in the company to get up to speed.

  ### 44. The best cloud-managed data orchestration product on the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

It has aided in building infrastructure that supports CI/CD, environment management, and it's significantly increased the rate at which we can develop, test, and deploy ETL/ELT pipelines for analytics, machine learning, and business insight at our company.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Some of the functionality in my local Apache Airflow instance is not available in the managed Apache Airflow instances in Astronomer. If they were consistent in functionality, we wouldn't run into environment issues when deploying dags to Astro.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing our business to utilize the benefits of a data orchestration tool such as Apache Airflow without the headache and operational overhead of hosting Apache Airflow in a cloud platform ourselves.

  ### 45. Definitely Recommend Astro

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor B. | Sr. Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

I like the ease of spinning up new deployments, as well as being able to see DAG run stats and Worker CPU/Memory usage in one place.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

I would prefer if Worker CPU/Memory could be more granular so a specific process can be identified in the case of high CPU/Memory usage.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives us a singular interface through which we can access all of our Airflow deployments. That allows us to more easily direct users to the correct deployments, and also to identify which deployments may be having issues or need updates.

  ### 46. Great experience

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Detailed dash, great permission allocation.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

A bit hard to find the link to airflow. the link button is a bit small.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting airflow, user permission control

  ### 47. Excellent experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Ability to seemlessly connect to Airflow jobs

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Nothing actually. Everything seems to work quite well.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astronomer makes monitroing and running airflow jobs quite easy

  ### 48. Easy transition from MWAA, hit few snags along the way

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Newspapers | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Setup and deployment of Astronomer was easy, and it gets out of the way to make our Airflow environment simple to work with.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

A few things are hidden behind the CLI tool, and require using hidden features to, for example, mount volumes when spinning up the containers.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

MWAA was hanging on "queued" a lot, which would silently cause our pipeline to fail. We need a more reliable Airflow deployment, and we were able to get that in Astronomer after some tweaking. It also makes the dev process a lot easier, since mwaa-local-runner is kind of a pain to use.

  ### 49. Airflow Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

The Astronomer customer success team was extremely helpful throughout the onboarding process and was always available to help answer questions. Astronomer as a product has made our hosting of Airflow smooth and especially simplified local developer experiences.

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Astro still has room for improvement in the IAC (infrastructure-as-code) space. Being able to do things like edit user access through code would be helpful, as well as more granular permission-based user controls.

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Astro does a great job of abstracting away a lot of the headache and ops around setting up Airflow deployments. They make spinning up new instances as well as monitoring existing instances very straightforward.

  ### 50. Airflow managed service to make Data Engineers sleep better

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Van Duc N. | Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Astro by Astronomer?**

Built on top of popular open source with timely update of new release

**What do you dislike about Astro by Astronomer?**

Infra customization in which related to stuff we can customize on EKS cluster (we are using AWS for Astro Plan deployment)

**What problems is Astro by Astronomer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provide a solid infra where save us time to maintain.
