this is a little less user friendly than say Salesforce which appeals to the masses. You can get a lot out of ACT but much of your success will depend upon your consultant - be sure to talk with other clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Act!?

My firm does Employment Candidate Generation. Act gives me the ability to store my contacts and find them very quickly if I receive a call. It is great to be able to look up previous contacts and sort them in seconds. I can also store resumes and documents with the contact.

I have clients in industries where I work with them many times. With the look-up feature, it is very easy to find and create a list of the names that I have previously generated Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Act!?

The transfer of contacts from Excel into Act has some problems. I get databases rejected all of the time. In addition, when I import contacts, I should be able to import either by first and last name or by full name. You can't import First Name - Last Name in separate field contacts.

When I paste an email address into an Act contact, Act puts the email in the last field that I used, instead of the email field. The only way to fix the problem is to restart ACT. This happens probably 50% of the time that I use ACT. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?

Act gives me access to the information that I want in seconds. It, also, gives me the ability to segment information however I want it which is a major advantage. I can bring up a record on a person who calls me in a matter of seconds while they are on the phone. I can also use the database to make calls and send emails. What do you like best about Act!?

During "business hours" it is very important for me to arrange my day in order to get the most contacts out of it. Every body is Sooooo busy these days and even when you nail people down to a meeting on the phone they still often don't answer the phone. Nothing gets accomplished unless you have a live person on the phone and act helps me to arrange my day, my week to maximize these contacts and turn them into business. What do you dislike about Act!?

the cloud version is so slow to interface with what I am doning on my desktop. I make more than a hundred calls a day. When I make changes in my data base and send those changes to my cloud to keep, the buffering sometimes takes a minute -or two. Multiply a minute or two aby 100 callls and you are talking about a wasted hour and a half of waiting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I see you recently made some changes to the History tab. You people could let me know when you make changes like that after using it for a year. What do you like best about Act!?

What do you dislike about Act!?

The one feature wish it had the ability to tie a company to a group instead of just a contact. For example, I work with a wide variety of alternative lenders that provide different kinds of commercial financing. I differentiate the lenders by placing contacts that work for that lender in appropriate groups for the landing programs they provide, ie "Commercial Real estate Lenders that Lend to Bars & Restaurants". If the contact for that lender leaves that lending company, I would still like to maintain the company name in that group as a lender that provides that specific type of financing. What do you like best about Act!?

The ability to have every client at your fingertips, along with a detailed history of every meeting and/or activity, is monumental to the proper professional management of prospects and clients. ACT! has always been the main focal point of my business relationship process to ensure that I can be up-to-date and relevant and stay ahead of my marketing, sales and support communications with my prospects and clients. The program is extremely easy to use and has always continued to improve and fine-tune the performance and benefits. I also use Handheld Contact to keep the synchronization between my mobile device and my computer up to date. I have used ACT! from the very first day of its' launch back in April of 1987 and will continue to be a loyal user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Act!?

Very few items come up that cause me to be concerned or frustrated with ACT!. After using this incredible program for over 35 years, When I see that there are some areas that might need some updating or possibly new capabilities that need to be added, it seems that they are included in one of the future updates that come along. Complete and accurate details of every prospect and client that I work with, as well as all of my agents across the country that work with me. I never have the challenge of not having the details or contact information that I need as well as what phase a person is in within my sales process or training process. What do you like best about Act!?

What do you dislike about Act!?

The web-based version does not have any shortcut tools it's a shame the act has been around a long time, and you're ahead of the curve as far as shortcut tools. Those tools would be a game changer. Mid-management and upper management company I'm not sure if you're not looking forward or considering the fact a lot of people have used the desktop version in the past and are switching to other products, think a little out-of-the-box and how you can recapture some of those clients and be different than everyone else. I'm happy to give you half an hour of my time to consult with you to drive the company forward if you like. I'm guessing it's more profitable to move everyone off the desktop version to the web-based product, but you still need to retain some of the key elements you have printing printing labels also to with the shortcut tools, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Act! solving and how is that benefiting you?

Not the best question we use it as a glorified rolodex in phone book the marketing tools that you have built into it don't quite integrate into other products out there for marketing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Act!?

What do you dislike about Act!?

To do, Call and meeting notes need a date and time stamp. I've communicated this for years to ACT! but to no avail. One of the add-on companies include it in their array and it was one of the main reasons I bought their product. You finally cleaned up the iPhone app, but it was a long time coming. There's still no Mac version, which forces me to maintain a separate PC computer basically just for ACT!. Intergration with Outlook doesn't function well even with aftermarket add-ons. What do you like best about Act!?

We just started with Act in February 2025 and has been using for 1 month. It's amazing how everything works. Easy to set up, good communication with a customer service. Very user-friendly interface comparing to our previous software. I found it's easy and fun to work on layouts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Act!?

I can look up people without knowing their names. For example, if I recall the person lives in Montana and that he or she is a laywer, I can look up that category and presto I can easily recognize the name from a short list of attorneys in Montana. ACT is easy to use and the support is good. I am a one person company and have over 8,000 names in my database which I have built over the past 27 years. Thus, it appears that I have entered slightly less than one person a day on average into my database for the past 27 years. ACT has been a lifesaver and has greatly increased the my efficiency which is what it is all about in my business. Because of my database, clients and even competitors call me to help them find certain types of people in various parts of the country. Thus, in my case ACT has become a marketing tool beyond my direct use of the software. People call me and say that they heard that "If Jeff can't help you, he will help you find the right person." I frequently get such calls. Becuase I tell my cleints and competitors about my ACT database, the word has spread and prospective clients call me out of the blue for help. I almost always can help them directly or from my ACT database. I am delighted. I call my ACT, my secret weapon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Act!?

President and Board of Directors at ACT: I am concerned that when I retire that I wouldn't have access to my database of over 8,000 names. I made my concern known to ACT and because the regular support people didn't know how to address my concern, the President of ACT called me with a suitable solution. I am very happy. What do you like best about Act!?

I can keep a database of my clients and can see all contact made as well as see their annual spending. I can svgecuke follow up reminders and can email all clients at one time saving hours of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ever since they went to a mandatory annual renewal I have had continued problems with mail merge and it seems no one I talk to understands how to fix the issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Act!?

Four things:

1. Holds all of my contact history

2. Allows for detailed notes

3. Content can be exported for analysis

4. It's a PC client app so it works when I don't have internet (for example, when in Zambia, on a plane w/o internet, etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
