# Why is it so hard to give sharepoint access to staff outside the company

I use my site to collaborate with business partners outside my organization and it is always a pain to share access to files with them

Outside sharing has a risk of leakage oof data, and thus firms limit it to avoid leakage of sensitive information.

This is because of security concerns, authentication, compliance, costs, and technical integration. Microsoft also has to ensure data protection, user identity verification, and be compliant with regulations
