I'm quite new to video editing, but I've used a couple other programs to do it. Nothing else I've used comes close to Descript in the pure ease and simplicity of editing video. The program automatically creates a transcript when you upload your video, and ties the transcript to the video. So if you delete a word in the transcript, it will edit out that part of the video automatically. But you can also just change a word, or a string of words, to correct it, and it still does a pretty good job of syncing the video to the correction. It's super slick and well-done. It really feels like the creators do video editing themselves and created the product they would want for their editing needs. For places where some super fine-point editing is required, that's possible, too, using a more traditional timeline selection tool at the bottom of the screen. It also has great features for transitions, effects, audio, captions, green screen, layering elements in the video, etc., as well as some beta AI features that aren't quite there yet in my experience (e.g. studio sound, automatic eye contact) but I'm excited to see what improvements come in the coming months. I'm super impressed, and I will definitely continue using this going forward

Descript changes the game in content creation, by allowing you to grab the flow of what people are saying and use that to transform what people are seeing. Editing a transcript and seeing that change the audio/video is magic, and freeing. No longer worrying about marking up waveforms or keeping track of clips based on visual alone opens up new possibilities for telling stories in audio and video.
