What do you like best about Decision Master Warehouse?

DMW is pretty simple to use. The level of detail on the claims is incredibly insightful to brokers and employers as you review how their plans are running mid-year or at renewal. The reporting is a nice visual for employers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Decision Master Warehouse?

I wish we could use it for groups with fewer members enrolled, but that's really on the carrier side. I'd like to be able to print/run a report on some of the drill-down details. I also would like an update on the graphs since they've looked the same for some time--need some updated graphics/colors to freshen it up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Decision Master Warehouse:

Make sure you have enough employer groups to reap the rewards of the software. The carriers will not work with DMW if the group does not have enough employees enrolled, and that differs for each carrier. The product is not cheap, but is fairly priced when we vetted it against others. However, if you don't have that many groups that could take advantage of it, you may not get enough ROI. The training was good -- Zywave has consistently done well there. Make sure you understand the time it takes to get the reporting so you don't run into roadblocks--you need several weeks lead time. We've always received great feedback from clients when we present this information to them. Worth the time and effort, and larger employers expect to see this type of info from their broker. What problems is Decision Master Warehouse solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use it to not only shed light on how the plan is running, but to craft the renewal strategy and improve the health and quality of life for employees/members. We use it to tailor messaging at renewal and open enrollment; to create health education campaigns throughout the year; and to show the value of a wellness plan and even to help develop a wellness plan. What do you like best about PlanAdvisor?

This tool helps us win and retain clients. The training was thorough and it's fairly easy to use. The cost is fair. Employers with 100+ employees expect to see this type of info. When we present it, it helps build confidence in our expertise and experience. We are able to successfully negotiate with carriers to ensure a fair and accurate renewal for our clients. What do you dislike about PlanAdvisor?

No major dislikes. It's pretty user friendly once you get the hang of it. You need two years of data to have an accurate picture. It would be very cool if you could go back and add the initial renewal and final/negotiated renewal so that you could show the client how accurate the tool is. It would also be impactful if you could pull a report to show a client this info year-over-year so they could see how hard we are working to get them a fair renewal. It's a very useful tool and impactful for clients. Employers with 100+ employees expect to see this type of info. When we present it, it helps build confidence in our expertise and experience. Underwriters respect our arguments because we are speaking their language when we are negotiating with them. What problems is PlanAdvisor solving and how is that benefiting you?

Mid-year conversations with clients to prepare them for the upcoming renewal. We have also successfully used it in negotiations with carriers to leverage a more fair and accurate renewal for our clients. We feel like it's a little bit of a science and little bit of an art when using the tool. The tool projections have been on-point a majority of the time so it is trustworthy and clients are impressed when our mid-year projections have been so close to the carrier renewals. My company switched from ModMaster to Modgic and the difference is amazing. Modgic is extremely user friendly, not to mention their great customer service. If you have a question or really any feedback, they are open to all suggests. Their turn-around time is the fastest we have ever experienced. Recommendations to others considering ModMaster:

This product is primarily for people who are heavy in workers comp and need to compete with the large brokers. The simple fact is for small market (<$100k) and even a lot of middle market accounts (<1 Mill) many of the large brokers simply cannot afford to supply all of the services that were listed in their brochures. Once a broker has made a sale, they typically have to rush off to make another one or salvage a renewal. Very little time is left to do the real work that was promised during the sales pitch. This is a great place for a smaller practitioner to step in and calculate the value of the labor that goes into providing a higher level of involvement with each client. What problems is ModMaster solving and how is that benefiting you?

Every broker uses the same pitch. We are great at claims and service. The problem is that unless you have real programs and services to back that up, it's simply a talking point. I like to detail the work i do, how i get involved in case management, return to work, and claims reviews with the customer and then show them what it does for their bottom line.
