I find Workiva easy to use. The support from Workiva has been great; they typically respond to a ticket within a few hours. I also like the search functions within Workiva, which makes it easy to find a control. The initial setup for Workiva was good, and they have a dedicated implementation team that assists you with building your Workiva environment. I use Workiva for SEC filing, reporting with W Data, and other minor entities. I like how Workiva keeps our version control in check and allows for commenting and workflow on shared documents. It also enables us to conduct SOX testing, perform markups, and handle sample selections and requests efficiently. Some areas that can be improved are markups, uploading support for audit and SOX testing. The sampling tool isn't as useful as I would like it to be, plus the request section and attaching things to spreadsheets can be a little finicky. Workiva's linking is the feature I value most. I link every number once, and it updates everywhere it appears, from the income statement to the footnotes to the MD&A. That saves me hours of manual tie-outs each quarter and gives me confidence that our financials are consistent. For an SEC reporting team, the efficiency and accuracy gains are hard to overstate. Formatting and functionality can feel clunky, and the platform is sometimes slow to respond, especially in larger documents. When I hit a problem, it's hard to troubleshoot on my own, so I often contact my customer success manager. That works, but it adds time when I'm up against a deadline. I like Workiva's linking and collaborative functions. The linking functions help reduce potential errors by ensuring last-minute changes are updated automatically, while the collaborative features allow us to see who is in the document and what changes are made. The security code. Sometimes, I am still working in the document, and then it kicked me out to ask for another security code. Reduce the frequency of the security code and it shouldn't ask for the security code when people are still working in the document. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the word/excel document feature within the online portal compared to other Company's versions of an excel add on. It is easy to link numbers and compare documents to prior versions. It is also easy to collaborate with team members and have multiple people edit a document at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I do find it hard to apply user access changes to various folders and files in a given workspace. Sometimes I give someone access to the folder, but then i need to do the same for all sub folders and files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Workiva is how it brings the entire financial reporting process into one connected platform. In fund accounting, we prepare financial statements for multiple entities, and the biggest pain point is always keeping the numbers consistent between Excel workbooks, the statements, and the footnotes. Workiva solves this very well. Because the data is linked directly to the source, any update flows through to every place that number appears, which cuts down on manual tie-outs, copy-paste errors, and casting or articulation mistakes.

The collaboration features are another big strength. Multiple preparers and reviewers can work in the same document at the same time, with clear comments, task assignments, and an audit trail of who changed what. That makes review cycles much smoother, especially when senior reviewers need to sign off on many entities under tight deadlines.

I also appreciate that linked content, like paragraphs and values reused across entities, can be updated once and refreshed everywhere. After four years in financial reporting, I've seen how much time this saves, and how much more confident I feel in the accuracy of the final published statements. Link management is plus plus thing with using workiva but it can get complicated some time. When a source workbook is restructured, such as when rows or columns are moved, links can break or point to the wrong cells, and tracing them back takes effort. I'd also like more flexibility in formatting, since small layout adjustments sometimes take more clicks than they should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really like the Wdata feature and how it enables live changes within all interconnections. We have integrations set up that bring data from FCCS and other journal entry applications, and with Workiva as the source, the way Wdata is designed as an end-to-end ETL tool really helps us get everything updated live at one go. Currently providing access to checklists and reports is a bit of a problem for us. We have to create an additional report just to manage access. Unlike the files and folders, which offer an 'update all permissions' option to grant permissions at once, we're missing something similar for checklists and reports. Track changes is not different for each person. So if somebody makes a change in track changes, then another person removes that change, you'd never know it was ever there/drafted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really appreciate using Workiva for its ease of use, especially the Wdesk's Linking features, which make it simple to roll forward dates and financial values when reporting to the SEC. Updating each period is straightforward. The abundance of tutorials, training materials, help articles, and other resources are always helpful. The Help icon visibility and easy access to the 'Help & articles' and 'Troubleshooting' areas are incredibly valuable whenever I have questions or difficulties. I find it beneficial that it's easy to find community questions from others who have faced similar issues. I also like the forward-looking nature of the company, as Workiva always seems to be rolling out new, preparer-friendly solutions to assist customers. One of my team’s favorite features in Wdesk Documents is the 'Outline labels' feature, which, when connected with Automations, helps create an excellent project management tool by visually indicating status and providing email notifications for any changes. I'd love to see expanded features within Automations. Viewing activity allows a user to see when an automation was run, but it does NOT allow the user to see which outline label was changed. This would make Outline Labels/Automations an even more powerful project management tool by providing a detailed audit trail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The user experience is great. Rating: 5/5; the interface is overall clean and easy to navigate. Finding coversheets, process flowcharts, and testing folders is straightforward. I especially like the track changes mode and the commenting feature, being able to @mention someone directly in a document or sample makes collaborating with reviewers and control owners super quick and easy. Integrations rating: 4/5. The integrations I use on a day-to-day basis include Single Sign On, uploading PDF's, etc. and everything works fine for me. Performance rating: 5/5. Workiva is always running or when its down it up and running super fast. its also nice to work inside the same document when several teammates are also working without worrying its going to crash. Pricing/ROI rating: N/A. As an auditor, I don't have much visibility into how much we pay but from a practical standpoint, I can see how Workiva definitely saves our team a lot of time. Support/Onboarding rating: 4/5: It was really easy to get up to speed on Workiva but I haven't had to reach out to any external customer support. AI/intelligence rating: 3/5.
