Ease of use! What takes hours in other platforms, is mere minutes in Wix. i.e. Animations, integrations, transitions)... transfering a paid website rights between differnt designs, and much functionality other sites do not offer, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
UX is not consistent throughout the experience.... foir example type styling and theme management. They appear in different manner, and with different options (i.e. sometimes you can modify font weight or size, but sometimes you can only use pre-exiting styles).
Also, the canned animations sometimes miss important properties (for example, the ability to change a logo on a moving top menu (important, as menu can shift from transparent to solid color and logo needs to turn negative, or be smaller).
Another pet peeve is the limited site versioning, and the confusing internal staging, the inability for an agency to duplicate sites for a customer, an a few other UX incositencies throughout.
Despite offering a pretty robust user management dashborad, they should also shift to collaborative design (like Webflow, Figma, and others) where you can leave comments on parts of the site to other editiors and designers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's become a fully-integrated marketing platform (lite version)... so if you need bare minimum CRM, email marketing, shopping cart, etc. with a no-code website builder it's not a bad place to start and their template library is pretty good. But that is also why it's not a great platform if you think your business will grow - none of the tools are as robust as something else - sort of a jack-of-all-trades platform that's not great at any of it but can be an okay entry point.
Their live chat is also pretty responsive and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All of their tech is okay but not great. For example: their email marketing is okay but not as good as Mailchimp/competitors that specialize in email, their CRM is better than nothing, but not as good as Pipedrive/NutshellCRM or other SMB-targeted CRMs (not even talking about Hubspot which I consider more for larger orgs). And their web builder is good, with good templates and decent capabilities, but not as intuitive/easy to use as Webflow, Squarespace or Tilda - and doesn't have near the SEO capabilities or tech customization native in Webflow or Tilda.
In short, you can get okay ecommerce, but would be better off with Shopify or BigCommerce. You can get okay email marketing and CRM but would be better off getting specialized apps and then dropping their form fields into your site. You can build a decent website with Wix, but for advanced and custom design/integrations/actions as you grow your business - and better SEO tools - you'd be better off with Webflow or Tilda.
Additionally, in my opinion, they've gotten more scammy over time as their tech has been surpassed by competitors. I used to build client sites in Wix all the time (between 2016 - 2019 I built 5 client sites plus my own there)... but they've instituted hidden upcharges, confusing subscription plans and a super shady renewal practice where they bill you 14 days before your renewal ends and then tell you it can't be refunded even if you cancel before your newly-purhcased-but-not-wanted renewal starts. I don't like doing business with companies I feel like are trying to screw me so I'd have stopped using them for that reason alone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I needed to get a website online ASAP - with zero experience! After a lot of research, I came across Wix (with the help of Ai of course). From registering to publishing my website took less than 6 hours, that's how simple it is to use. I now log into the console daily, tweaking my website but also monitoring the traffic to the website. Even with the basic plan I'm using, the analytics are pretty impressive. Designing the website pages, adding photos, and links to social media was a breeze. They also have a host of apps that integrate easily with Wix. I've used 2 already. If you need help, customer support is just a click away, with a live chat option as well. I never thought launching my very own website would be so easy. I'm well and truly impressed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The initial pricing guide is a little misleading, especially if you are a total newbie. The monthly subscription is pretty reasonable. Only after you've paid for the subscription, they inform you that you need to pay an annual domain registration fee which is like 3x the subscription price (it is for 12 months tough). My review title says it all. Wix is the easiest platform I have ever used. From the dashboard and managing multiple sites, to editing web pages within the studio...every step of building and maintaining a website on Wix is perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Im being squeezed to find any problems with Wix. If I was to choose, it would be the pricing. While I believe the pricing is fairly reasonable, it wouldn't hurt to lower the cost for loyal customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wix is very user-friendly. You don't have to know a whole lot about building websites. They basically hold your hand through the process and make it easy for you to create a very nice-looking site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a couple of issues I had with trying to do the SEO (which I know nothing about, but I've tried to research it myself to save money) and I wanted to update a couple things (per some suggestions) and found I could not because of the how the Wix platform worked. Maybe I could if I knew how to get into the proper editor and knew more about what I was doing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wix helps new businesses like me to bring our personal brand into reality. I was able to customize my website with blog integration and e commerce shop where I am able to promote my affiliate products.
For my career development I used wix to build a project portfolio for showcasing my generative AI engineer skills. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There's nothing to dislike. Wix has many customizable, minimalistic or elegant templates to build website or landing page. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I own the business Passionate Motivation Volleyball and also Sparks Miracles. Wix has allowed me to operate my business and design websites that are super creative with great, easy to use tools! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I liked the older platform better. It fit on the mobile website automatically. Now the mobile website is tougher to create. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm a compulsive do-it-yourselfer and started with wordpress based on it's full function list but damn, it was confusing and I got way too impatient. I've also used squarespace (it's been a few years so assume many updates since then) and of the three Wix is the best. Squarespace is an easy editor as well but sometimes the default templates / layouts and the mobile versions didn't line up / present the way I was expecting. When using Wix I never even had that thought once. it was perfect.
Also, from start of implementation to first presentable site took less than an hour. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They hide the web editor / blog post manager in their massive menu. why not put those front and center and spare us all the digging every time it's time for anew blog post. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's pretty wasy to use and you do not have to deal with software upgrades and other issues that open-source platforms have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I get a lot of notifications from third parties telling me that the site is not SEO optimized. However, as long as I am aware it performs pretty well. No concerns about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wix's customer service is, by far, their most appealing quality to me. By far the best, most responsive and willing to help team I have encountered. Every platform has flaws, but at least Wix is always available to help. It is also one of the simplest platforms to create a website using. Very user friendly, so I can quickly educate my clients how to use it. They provide numbers of good features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When adding items from another source, customisation options may be limited. For Example, if you intended to utilize it as a platform for an integrated database, it is not necessarily compatible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
